The first day it was an hour of diagnostic worn that I ok'd at $129 an hour rate. Then they said on day 2, it's another another 1/2 hour to an hour to do a compression test. I approve that. I had been a loyal customer for 11 years. Until recently, they provided consistently…read moreabove-and-beyond excellent service and always gave fair and honest accessments for all my car repairs needed on a mini cooper and mini countryman. When the countryman died of engine failure at over 110k miles, in June I purchased another older mini cooper. This is when our relationship changed. It was burning oil at an alarming rate, smoke was coming out of the exhaust, almost always after idling for a lengthy time and sometimes upon starting the car. I had it accessed by Murrysville Auto and a part replaced with the stipulation being that might and might not resolve the issue pointing to possible engine issues. Fair enough. I was glad to have honest information to make the decision. When it still exhibited smoke from the exhaust, I immediately made another appointment to have it reaccessed. This time, instead of Cody (owner) who always had relayed the information to me in the past, his mother, Jerrie (President) gave me info stating no further repairs were needed or recommended, that it was burning oil and the solution offered was for me to simply check the oil EVERY DAY. At this point, I questioned outloud to Jerrie in person if they were trying to tell me they didn't want my business any longer. She assured me that was not the case. We then talked and, with Cody in the conversation, as well, a rebuilt engine was found with a cost of installation being 15k. I agreed, thinking a total engine replacement would fix the issues. Before I could pay, I needed to transfer funds for next business day. In the meantime, a new light came on -- the engine reduced power light. This was a new symptom and my research showed it might mean more than an engine alone. I could not, with this new info, afford to pay 15k and not have a total solution so canceled the order for the engine. Now, Murrysville Auto lets me know the seller of the engine was charging a restock fee of 1600. This restock fee was not divulged to me on my paperwork which is unlawful and non-binding in PA. To just be done with the transaction and move on, I agreed to pay 1600. But then, Cody tells me it is actually more than 1600. I stand by the 1600 relayed to me and pay that. Soooo, bottom line I stand by my intuition that Murrysville Auto wanted to sever business relations with me, though I had been a long-time loyal customer and always paid my repairs in full, on the spot, with no questions on pricing or suggested repairs until this car purchased in June, less than 3 months and less than 1500 miles ago. By having Jerrie and not Cody give me the latest non-repair advice of simply checking oil EVERY.SINGLE.DAY which is ludicrous to charging and not divulging a restock fee (first, I would never back out of a contract except I had new vital info), it seems obvious that I will not be continuing my service with them for this car or any other. I have no idea what changed to come to their final ways of doing business, but it is what it is. They are not the same trusted business that I came to trust and rely on all these years.

He says "i expected you to be down here and I didnt schedule any other work because I thought you would show up and now you wasted my time and my money" i told him "yeah I understand how that could be frustrating but i didnt think it was a firm appointment, you didnt really make it seem like it was set in stone" and he just proceeded to tell me that i should have just picked up the phone (he never even tried to call me if that were the case) and he basically just told me to get the f*** out and that he wouldn't work on my car. Funny enough this is the second time I tried to take my car here. The first time I tried doing business with him he treated me like an idiot on the phone and was very belittling, BUT he did a diagnostic on my car and helped me get to the bottom of an issue i was having. He never did any work on my car so I cant speak to his mechanic abilities but WOW is his customer service skills terrible! The first thing that Glenshaw Auto did was to have a tech get in my car and drive around the neighborhood so that I could explain the issue. This didn't give any conclusive answers, but was something I thought was a smart thing to do on their part. I left my vehicle there, and within a couple of hours, their service rep (Matt) called to ask if he could email some documents (an auto-shop emailing me?! wow). The documents he sent were schematics of my car's suspension (the problem area). He then spent the next 15 minutes walking me through exactly what was wrong with the car and exactly what the other shop had not fixed properly. I gave them the go-ahead to do the work. Upon picking up the car, Matt asked that I text him to let him know if it seems that the issue was completely fixed after my drive home. He also let me know that I'd be receiving a follow-up call from them in 2 weeks to check that everything is still in order. What?! A follow-up call from a mechanic? I've never heard of such a thing. There were also a couple of things that he said they noticed on my vehicle that were not critical and didn't need to be addressed now (nice that I felt no pressure to make those fixes on the spot). He said that he would email me a quote on those other items in the next day. There's something that I really like about being emailed and/or texted as opposed to a phone call all the time. As far as price goes, it seems right inline with previous shops. I certainly did not feel that it was excessive, and they did fix the problem that the original shop could not properly do twice. I had also asked them to check a slow leak that I had on a tire. They removed and reseated the tire and charged me....nothing for it. It's not as if they forgot to charge me, it was right there on the invoice as $0. Other observations, very clean waiting room / reception area. Very friendly staff all-around. I'd certainly recommend these guys to anyone.

The good: They're usually done with the job on time, if not early. The price is reasonable. The customer service is excellent! They are straightforward, friendly, and seem to be honest. The bad: There is one single landline phone number, and it's like the one your grandparents have. No call waiting, no option to leave a voicemail if it's busy, just a line with a phone plugged into it. This is a problem because they do a lot of business and 4 out of 5 times I try to call them, the line's busy. Come on, guys, it's 2011. Let's update our phone systems out of the 1970s!
