Lisbon has got a lot of things figured out, but veg food isn't really one of them. There are not many exclusively vegetarian or vegan restaurants, and most of them tend to be buffets.
Of all the spots, Oásis tended to have higher ratings, and we discovered it was a few blocks from where we were around lunchtime, so we headed over.
The restaurant is vegetarian with vegan options. It's also Russian themed, in that the owners are apparently Russian, and the food is a vegetarian spin on that.
Inside is small, but there is an "outdoor" area, which is really an enclosed patio. We were seated quickly and there were a lot of people there, indicating that it's a pretty popular spot.
We opted for the three-item lunch, which includes a selection of three of the four "mains," along with rice and salad, and is for two people. This included seitan in a sauce, spinach lasagna, and a cabbage roll.
The food was fine--not spectacular, but good, on par with cafeteria-type food. I also get the feeling that it is pre-made and then just heated up and served. Our food was pretty lukewarm, and I think if it had been hotter or made fresh, it would have been a bit better. But overall not bad for a vegetarian meal.
Along with our food, we got a Sprite and a Super Bock. Altogether our meal was €11, which was definitely fair. The employees were also very friendly and attentive, which made it an enjoyable experience. read more
