That "Ancho Chile Beef" that was "cooked in a blend of chillies, spices, tomatoes and herbs"? I guess it had some herbiness to it, and it was in some red colored liquid, but there was no hint of salt or spice anywhere. And the carnitas was equally tasteless, unless you're okay with pork that has some slight hint of citrus but no savoriness. The only real upsides are we didn't get sick from eating the food and it was filling, if completely unsatisfying to the taste buds. In short, Mission Burrito is a pale imitation of a Chipotle, let alone the great Mexican food you can get at the actual Mission district in SF.

As a…read moreWhitchurch resident I've long been aware of this hidden secret, and always delight in introducing friends to the best Indian meal they've ever tasted (I imagine it would even rival New Delhi). The food is all well prepared and always appears incredibly fresh. I'm particularly partial to their prawn biryani and the samosas are delicious (if perhaps just a tiny bit too spicy), but I'm always open to trying out new things off the menu. However I do have one big qualm with the India Gate, which is that when collecting a takeaway, the food is never ready on time (usually 10-15 minutes after the time you were told). Yet time issues aside, the India Gate promises a great Indian meal.

I did not enjoy my Prawn Pathia at all, it was very watery, bland and only had a few prawns in, this was quite poor considering the slightly inflated prices compared to other Indian restaurants. I think you can always judge an Indian on its poppadums and naan bread, well there were two big fails there by the India Gate! The poppadums were so very thin and insubstantial with the naan bread pretty dry, tasteless and unappetizing. Basically I have had much better Indians for a cheaper price and will not be visiting again.

This is actually probably the nearest fish and chip shop to where I live, however due to the excellence that Five Star (Station Road) and the good reputation of Top Gun, until recently I'd never even been to Victoria Fish Bar. The food in my opinion is pretty average, in particular I really wasn't that keen on the fish. The staff on the other hand were incredibly friendly and chatty and I almost come back purely due to them. What is special about this place though, is that it's one of the only Fish and Chip shops which is open on a Sunday. So whilst from Monday to Saturday I'd recommend going somewhere else, if you find yourself on a Sunday with a desperate craving for Fish and Chips, you know just where to go.
