Let's start with something very important to a review of a Mexican (strictly burrito) place in the…read moreUK; I'm American with about fifteen years in the food industry on the perpetual hunt for great food. Taco Macho is a hidden gem, and it shouldn't be surprising that it's the #1 place to eat in Exeter on TripAdvisor. Although I've constantly complained to him about how long it takes to make a burrito, it's also my fault because we're both talkers. He makes all his ingredients fresh, and hand picks all his ingredients because (we've discussed this) he'd rather pay more for supplies that are of a better quality which means he needs to do his shopping instead of going through a supplier. For about £7 you get a burrito that is the best you're going to find (I'll have another review of the taco place in London later) in the UK, I've searched. They're American sized burritos, and absolutely DESTROY the other "Mexican" place across the river, and is the third best burrito I've ever had; the two others are no longer in business and were toward Columbia MD, and the other was in York PA. The flavor is very well balanced and have a nice combination of spice and occasionally citrus notes. Many of the Brits have turned up their nose, and the only reason I've been able to put together is because they're not used to an abundance of flavor in their food - That's not a jab a British food, but an observation from living there for about two years. There are beef, chicken, and sometimes vegan/vegetarian options but that may change in the future; I've never asked about veggie options. Overall, the hours are short (about 1100-1600 Tuesday-Saturday, but that may have changed), so call ahead and hopefully the number provided is both accurate and if it's accurate hopefully he'll pick up; check Facebook for up-to-date hours. If you go in, you could probably tell him the Gringo that was always in flannel sent you, and you won't regret it. However, if you find a better burrito in the UK, somebody needs to tell me because I don't think it's going to happen. Hopefully that was helpful. Keep on eating.

I have had two such differing experiences that it should just about average out as a 3 star review,…read moreluckily you can't have half stars... The first time I visited here was last winter and lordy lord was it freezing! It was below 10 degrees outside and about minus 4 inside. It felt like the air conditioning was stuck on full blast, I don't remember the food/service or anything as I wanted to bolt out of there as quick as possible. The last time was at Valentines with my lovely and was a lot better, especially warmth wise. We were met by a compere that had the cheek to say there may not be any tables available, after letting him know that over half the restaurant was empty I wouldn't think that was a problem. No one likes to be made to look silly and he wasn't very friendly after that. That was the last problem with unfriendly staff as our water was so delightful. He did really make our day with his upbeat personality and we ended up having a good laugh with him. I do believe that this Chiquito does take aways too, which includes the full menu. I'm not sure the Cardiff Centre one does that, don't quote me on that though.

Located at the opposite end of the Red Dragon Centre's car park, the restaurant itself is in a distinctive looking building, with excellent furnishing inside and out. During the evenings, a time i'd recommend eating more so than lunch time, there's a vibrant and family orientated atmosphere. Once seated, the clean cut, contemporary surroundings aren't really in character with how one would imagine a Mexican restaurant, although it is very pleasant. The menu itself is stocked full of 'Mexican' dishes, although typically these consist of the more Westernised meals like fajitas and nachos, rather than genuinely authentic Mexican cuisine. Perfectly edible and tasty, the meals aren't anything to write home about. I do enjoy Mexican food particularly, but I wouldn't rank this as much higher than anything I could prepare for myself at home. Who knows, maybe i'm just a great chef.

Fresh, good value and delicious to boot, if you're after a sandwich Ozzy's is the place to go! Over…read morethe years I've seen many businesses come and go from this spot, none really knowing what to do with this small space. However with Ozzy's they've struck gold. On your typical weekday expect to find Ozzy's packed (peak times 12:00pm-1:30pm). Ozzy's serves sandwiches, baguettes, Panini's, and toasties all of which are prepared before your eyes (although you can order by phone in advance). There are a variety of food options, my sister is quite partial to their roast chicken baguette, but they'll generally make anything up for you as long as they have the filling. One word to the wise, if you like Panini's like myself I'd recommend getting there earlier as due to popularity they run out quickly. Don't worry if you're thirsty, Ozzy's has the usual fizzy drinks, water and most importantly coffee. The staff are all very friendly and have good memories when it comes to their regular patrons favourites (though not that difficult when it comes to myself, as my Panini of choice has become depressingly unoriginal). The only real downside to Ozzy's is that I've become utterly addicted to their cheese and tomato Panini's, and whenever out of Cardiff I tend to have withdrawal symptoms.
