I try to recognize excellent Boulder businesses when I see them - and this is one of them. Most great retail businesses put a priority on personality and you can see that here as uniformly the staff excels on the customer side (without any fakery I would add). The coffee bar is efficient but maintains high and consistent standards. The espresso blends are not those questionable trendy types (often just plain sour) but retain a classic, fuller profile for deep and complex flavors. A somewhat hidden gem are their homemade soups which are always quite excellent and served with fresh bread. It has a funky but diverse vibe so anyone sporting full-body tatoos to a tailored suit will feel at home. This is a well-run establishment evidenced by a loyal following. read more

I asked for a bone dry cappuccino, I even specified no poured milk. I was terribly I dissatisfied when the barista poured my milk instead of scooping the foam. I've had the Isabella roast at Laughing Goat coffee in Boulder before but these guys must burn it in the espresso machine. A total waste of $5 on what really isn't a hard drink to make if you take the time to listen to your customer and scoop the milk! Completely disappointed again. read more

I love, love, love your Blue Sky whole-bean blend, but it is so hard to find where I live (south-west of Denver). I've ended up just having it shipped to my house, which is a bummer since I pay more this way. Regardless, I find myself not as satisfied with other coffee blends because yours is so smooth and not at all bitter. read more

Read the really great reviews about this place, and since I love a good cup of coffee, decided to visit yesterday. Wow, my friends and I waited five minutes at the order counter before the barista even glanced at us. A man and a woman who looked like they worked at the place emerged from the room behind the counter but did not even look at us. And so, we left. read more

I work across the street so I go in about twice a week. Great coffee every time but I have yet to have experience a friendly interaction with the baristas. Definitely takes away from the experience. read more

This was the worst coffee experience I have ever had. I have been a barista for two years and I KNOW what I like. The barista here had the audacity to inform me I "changed" what I drink and he would make it "better." I ordered my usual- an extra dry cappuccino with two pumps of white chocolate. I was informed that the white chocolate sauce they used would make it "too sweet" and when I asked what they used they told me the name of the exact same brand I use. Then, I was informed he was going to use a "light roast" espresso. I asked for dark. When I got my order back, it was called out as I ordered it but after approaching the counter the barista informed me that he had made it "his way," and not "my way." I got a wet cappuccino, with light roast espresso, and half a pump of white chocolate. I am a coffee snob. I know what I am doing. I know how I like my drink. It was rude to assume I had no idea what I was talking about and to assume that "you're way" is better. Do not presume to tell me what I like. Worst. Coffee. Experience. Ever. read more

Boulder is a town of great coffee shops! Never. Ever. Go to Starbucks. Seriously. You would be doing yourself a disservice. Trust me. And my absolute favorite is Ozo. The atmosphere is the artsy hippie thing that Boulder does so well. I judge all coffee shops on the latte. The crema is AH-MAZE-ING! The espresso is so velvety smooth and combines so perfectly with the crema that it seriously is a little piece of heaven. This IS the coffee shop to which all others are compared. read more

Typical for a Boulder establishment. The coffee is great but the barista is a snob. The AM girl thinks that she is the greatest barista that has ever walked into Boulder. She is rude, she can't hold a tune but sings along with the music, and she made me a awful latte. The other employees are great and I got the feeling that they don't like the blond AM barista either. Get rid of her and I will return. read more

I am a coffee snob who lives in Louisville. And I drive almost every day to get Ozo, which is the best darn coffee in Boulder County (and I've been to every single independent coffee shop here--really). The only downside of their place as far as I can see is that it's always busy, and parking can be a pain around lunchtime. But there's a good reason WHY Ozo is such a hoppin' joint, and you can taste it in their wonderful, chocolately, not-a-bit-bitter espresso. Ask one of the baristas if you can have a mocha made with their dark, single-origin mixes that they keep behind the counter, and then order a piece of their chocolate zucchini bread. Your tongue will be in heaven. I don't know where the rest of you will be . . . probably trying to fight your way out of the parking lot. But it's worth it. read more

I like Ozo. I think they are the best coffee in the county. That being said, since their new shop opened on Pearl, this location has really dropped on quality and service! BUT... They are still the best in Boulder, which tells you how good they are! read more

Not the place to go for craft coffee. Their focus is on drip coffee and specialty drinks. They talk about single origin as if it doesn't matter. I was told my best bet option for single origin is to come in on Thursdays or Fridays. What they claim is a light roast is in fact dark, burned, and should have been thrown out months ago. The smallest size French Press you can get here is a 16oz. They don't offer a Pour Over, or any other "fussy" brew method for that matter. When you start getting into 16oz and bigger, you begin to loose quality. The fact that you can't get a proper cup in a reasonable size is saddening. If you want a good cup of quality, craft coffee, Ozo is not the place to go. Watching them pull a shot doesn't give me any confidence either. There's seemingly no quality control. Granted, I've not had any of their espresso. read more

This is the most adequate coffee I've had in Boulder so far. Yes, that is the nicest thing I have said about any coffee shop around here. Their espresso is reasonable, no major peaks or valleys in the flavor profile, the drip coffee is single origin and the ambiance is great: Students, professionals, moms, just about anyone. It feels comfortable and accepting. The cashiers are friendly but the baristas can be hit-or-miss; sometimes they are quick and efficient but sometimes, not so much. I've waited 5 minutes for an Americano when there were only 2 or 3 other drinks ahead of me; good places with efficient baristas should keep me waiting 30 seconds per drink, tops. I don't give a crap about you making cute little leaf-in-the-milk latte art, get me my drink. Also, the last time I went, the barista didn't pull full clicks on the grinder (I see this so much... why is it such a challenge?). He ended up with an overfilled handle and scraped the extra grounds back into the top of the grinder reservoir. This is just so wrong on so many levels. I'll keep buying their espresso; they don't overextract the shots and the water is hot enough, but geez, train your baristas on the details guys. read more

Wow, never felt like I put out a barista like I did today. The fella making the coffee was nice but the girl was a sour brat. Hope the downtown location has better peeps. read more

I really I am probably going to catch hell for this, but I don't care about the atmosphere, it really doesn't matter how the place looks to me, all I care about is getting my fix. And this place does it, and does it well. It is one of the few places that you can actually drink the espresso as it is meant to be drank, in a little cup without milk, water or sugar. The coffee alone keeps me coming back but the staff is great (award winning two years in a row) very accommodating and did I mention how amazing their espresso is? read more

Well just went in to get a regular drip coffee for the first time. I ordered and paid and I waited about 15 minutes and watched about 10 people get their fancy lattes and espressos before me, the guy kept looking over so he knew I was waiting but never made my drink or asked why I was waiting if he somehow thought that I had already been helped. Won't be returning and am currently heading to another place nearby (without my coffee) where I can give my business. read more

Hands down the best espresso in Boulder. Try the house special, a small wet cappucino prepared perfectly, or a cortado, or a single espresso. The smaller the drink you order, the more attention the baristas pay to your shots, which means you might wait a few extra minutes for the perfect double shot as the barista makes a line of iced mochas with the less perfect shots. They roast their own beans on Tuesday and Wednesday, so you can get freshly roasted beans every thursday. The roaster is around the corner in the same plaza, and on Friday afternoons they offer free tastings of this week's roasts. Lots of single-origin lots available - you can order any of these in a french press. I like the Rwandan coffee and the Nicaraguan Segovia. From time to time they roast the exquisite Ethiopian Nekisse. Every so often they're pulling amazing single origin espresso shots without making a big deal about it or charging extra - it's worth checking what's in the hopper of the light roast grinder when you're there. In a town much more focused on cafe ambience than actual coffee quality, Ozo is raising the bar for taste. With a downtown location opening this fall within a block of Trident and Saxy's, hopefully the rest of the shops will be forced to increase their standards to match. read more

One of my favorite coffee shops, ever. (Which is saying a lot because I spend a good chunk of my time in LA and Orange County coffee shops). Not only is their coffee amazing but their staff is always so friendly. I've dappled with the menu a bit and would honestly recommend everything I've tried- Cold Brew (YAAAASSS), Drip Coffee, Matcha Latte, Almond Milk Cappuccino and their hibiscus tea. It is also a great place to study. read more

A nice coffee shop with a variety of options of how to have your coffee. The baristas are friendly and outgoing. I recommend trying the French press coffee. It takes about 5 minutes to brew but it is well worth it. read more

Ordered a latte, which had an odd smell and aftertaste. Later ordered a toasted bagel. 20 minutes go by and I walk back up to check up on my bagel, which they forgot. It had been sitting on the counter. They brought it to me burnt, room temperature, and hollow (?) -- easily the worst bagel i've had in awhile. Skip this place and go to Folsom Street or Buchanan's, both of which have better drinks and better tasting food. read more

Ozo Arapahoe--don't get me wrong, I've loved you for a very long time. Great coffee, better breakfast and lunch options than any other coffee shop in the greater Boulder area, awesome staff, super vibe in general. But the FLIES are out of control. Please, please do something about the flies. I work all over the world, outside, in tropical settings so I'm not afraid of some bugs. But the flies were just crazy-making today :( read more

These guys know good bean. Excellent espresso. Great coffee. Five star stuff. Very good soups and stews at lunchtime. Line wait takes a while, but they have improved on it somewhat by opening an extra register for simple orders. Atmosphere is o.k., often overhead music and conversations are loud. It's busy, so that's all expected. read more

Great neighborhood joint where all the regulars hang out. Pretty good latte, and really laid back atmosphere. When I went it was a challenge to get a table as the place was packed. I'd go back. read more

If all the coffee shops in the world made espresso like these guys then I wouldn't need to shop at Starbucks. 9 out of the 10 coffee shops in this area make crap/sludge These baristas know what they are doing. They pull shots from "manual" machines. I work across the street and I appreciate having this kind of quality close by. The only reason to go to Starbucks is that they are all pretty much consistent, defiantly not the best quality but you don't have to risk having a shot pulled by some 14yr old noob. read more

Crazy busy place and after having the coffee, I can understand why. Rich flavored and full bodied. I love good coffee and it was worth the line to get served. They need a bigger seating area. read more

Staff is very unfriendly! No one greets you. They act like it is a burden to take your order. Frustrating experiences at this location.

Ozo has the best coffee in Boulder. Greg Lefcourt, who works mornings, is the Rocky Mountain Barista Champion of the year, and he placed 16th in the nation. He will truly serve you one of the best cups of coffee available in the United Sates, much less in Boulder. And he does it in a quality atmosphere using Ozo coffee that is roasted across the street. Ask him for the Greg special, and enjoy an espresso drink as it should be. read more

I usually go to Peets to get some work done along with some coffee. I wanted some change so decided to try Ozo. Coffee was strictly ok and it was crowded when I went and looking at other reviews it seems like thats how it is most of the time. While its good for the coffee shop's business, it can get a little too noisy if you are thinking of a place to sit and get some work done. If you like a lot of people around you and dont mind the noise, go for it! read more

Best coffee in Boulder. The staff are skilled baristas that are friendly and make an outstanding cup of coffee. Location is a strip mall but it is worth a stop. read more

I'm a fan. But let me sum it up for you. Can be the best espresso in town. Inconsistent in taste AND preparation. One day it is a symphony and the next...WTheck? Odd, poorly lit and tabled interior. Good luck reading, and what is that pew thing about? I've been there enough times to know. Three stars plus a fourth for serious effort. read more

The best cafe in Boulder! The roast their own beans and have very talented barista's that know what they're doing. There's a lot of competition in Boulder (laughing goat, pico's, brewer's market) but Ozo definitely takes the cake. Not surprisingly, many restaurants brew Ozo themselves. A must try for anyone new to Boulder. read more

What a great place. I love just hanging our with Very good coffee nice intelligent people

Boulder is a great place for coffee, and Ozo's is our favorite place. Excellent baristas, espressos, and drip coffee.

The best coffee and service in boulder. I can't wait for the new downtown location to open. Love that they have all types of food (that isnt over priced). And I got the cutest little to go cup from them! read more

Much better than Starbucks. I enjoy the atmosphere. There wifi could be improved. It always goes slow and has issues which has kept me from coming in for work. I also like silver canyon brews better for take home coffee. read more

Good spro guys! I'd like for you to turn down the acidity by darkening it a little or giving it something with a little more body; I'd prefer the later to the former. Otherwise, don't change a thing. read more

Great coffee place and everyone knows about it because this place was packed. The line was pretty long even with 4 baristas taking orders. The pastries were very delicious and I really liked the atmosphere of this place too. read more

It's always a hit or miss with this place. Depending on the barista, I either get a great cup of coffee or a shit cup with attitude. Naturally, I find the older the barista the better the coffee. They should really reconsider who they hire, depending on experience and not on looks. I know there is a 20 something "hipster" type they are looking for, but I really don't want to pay 5 DOLLARS for a small cup of coffee that can't even be made properly. read more

I'm a tea-drinker so I really appreciate the wide variety of teas they serve. Plus they have my favorite Bhakti chai and rice milk. And tons of gluten-free treats. All topped with super speedy, friendly service! read more

nice atmosphere and great coffee. Best part is they roast their own beans next door.

The coffee is still consistantly very good. I have one and only one complaint. Their pastries are not good at all. The breakfast breads that they sell are actually very good. I am talking about muffins that are so dry I cannot even choke them down with the yummy coffee. Croissants that have the consistancy that they have been stored in tupperware overnight, no crusty yummy deliciousness there! My suggestion: Get a house special to go, look up where the tasterie truck will be that day and you will be set! read more
