What makes this worse is that the company initially responded with explanations that did not match reality. Only after I posted photos showing the damage did their response change, when the evidence could no longer be disputed. This has been an ongoing nightmare, and this update is being posted so others are fully informed. I am continuing to document everything and will be sharing additional photos and videos that show the full scope of the project, the condition it was left in, and the sequence of events that led here. I truly wish I didn't have to write updates like this, but the situation continues to deteriorate. At this point, my focus is on holding this company accountable and making sure others understand what they may be risking. More documentation to follow.

It's a 47 year old mobile home. They do that. Donovan came out and gave me an estimate that I accepted. They demolished the whole back room and half the front porch. They completed everything in eight working days. Donovan and Lee showed me what they were doing as work progressed. They kept in touch and updated the work progression, photos, and billing on a secure web site. The work they did is great! They're cool, friendly guys, too! I visited their showroom that Monday and chose a stone I'd previously seen and loved at Arizona Tile, which they were able to source for me. Ben got me scheduled for installation within the week. The crew that came out was fantastic--each one introduced themselves, explained what they'd be doing, asked a few questions, and got right to work. It was a big job, but they finished the same day and the result was absolutely beautiful. As the project manager, Mike Gast was extremely patient and accommodating, and provided lots of feedback to solve various issues. This was a large project that involved removing the garage door, retrofitting 3 sets of doors, framing and finishing for a custom look, inside and out. They even installed special thresholds so we could be assured of being able to roll equipment in and out of the space easily. After each stage of the job, the crew cleaned up the area and removed all debris. The price quoted us initially was in line with competitors, better than several, who failed to follow up with us. There was no cost-creep, and we finished at the price quoted us. Progress and payment was tracked on their online job project site, which was an added benefit and inspired confidence. What's even more concerning is that my mother, who also used Southland Carpet, is having the exact same problem in her home. We live in different cities--Murrieta and San Marcos--so this does not appear to be a coincidence or an isolated issue. When we contacted Southland Carpet, we were told the problem was not their responsibility. I stated that we should not be charged for an issue that appears to be related to installation and mentioned that I would be leaving a review. At that point, I was told that writing a review would be considered slander, which was both unprofessional and alarming. Do not use this company. Within a few years, your carpet may begin to lift, and when you call them for help, you may be dismissed and accused of slander instead of receiving support or accountability.
