We were seated right away and food came out pretty fast. I had the shrimp pan roast and really enjoyed it. It was creamy, flavorful and comforting. I also tried the Bloody Mary and liked that too. If 5 stars is Palace Station Oyster Bar, 4 stars is a close-enough second, and 3 stars is some copycat/wannabe, this place somehow has managed a paltry 2 stars. Oyster Bar at Green Valley Ranch was recently rebranded, dropping the "Tides" while not improving upon its poor reputation. We all know that all the Station Casinos have the same ownership, so surely there should be a similar level of quality among all locations of their Oyster Bar brand. To be clear, service was solid. I don't have complaints about that. It's all about the execution of the Combo Pan Roast ($33.99), which was not just lacking, but perplexing. The main issue is that the depth of flavor is simply not there, suggesting that they didn't use enough of ingredients like seafood stock or even salt. There is also an unexpected presence of diced bell peppers, which could possibly have worked if they were cooked enough to soften but otherwise were distracting and maybe watered down the whole thing with their presence? The seafood portion and cooking seems fine, as does the white rice, but those are bare minimum types of expectations. I didn't get much if any spiciness from my requested 3 out of 10, but better that than chugging water on top of having a stew I guess. Oh, and the bread is not the same. I've always had rolls at other Station-owned Oyster Bars, but here they had some sort of strange sourdough baguette with chewy, not crispy skin. It's a very strange discrepancy and obviously for the worse. The atmosphere also didn't help. It's somewhere between generic restaurant and generic hospital with all that teal and, I hate to ding them for this, uniformly bright lighting. There is no sense of intimacy or uniqueness. I was comfortable giving this Oyster Bar a try because Green Valley Ranch had a $15 dining offer available, but I'd rather have tried any of their other eligible restaurants at this point. I was looking for a laid-back spot for some oysters and was excited to try this newly revamped Oyster Bar (formerly Tides Oyster Bar). It is located inside Green Valley Ranch (Casino) near the main entrance. There was plenty of signage to help you find it, but several of their signs still say Tides. The name change seems recent, but folks at GVR are friendly and will send you in the right direction. I was here on a Sunday evening so it wasn't super busy, but there was a steady stream of patrons and to-go orders. I was seated at the bar (a favorite of mine while dining solo) and was immediately approached by Sheree who informed me I was just in time for their Sunday Happy Hour, with half off oysters and beer (Sundays only, 4-9pm). Score! Their menu is seafood focused, and their cocktail menu looked intriguing. When I'm settling in for oysters and other seafood, I typically stick with wine, so I would try one of their cocktails on my next visit (or if I was with my plus one). Here's a breakdown of what I ordered: - Seasonal Oysters (1 dozen, mix of Miyagi, Blue Point, Kumamoto, Chesapeake): I really liked the variety they had for their seasonal oysters. My favorites were the Miyagi and Chesapeake, but the flavors all seemed relatively mild and there were quite a few shell pieces in some. - Gulf Oysters (1 dozen): These were pretty disappointing; they are large but super watery and bland. Several of the oysters I had were icy in the middle as though they were frozen, then thawed. I know getting fresh oysters in LV is a challenge, but it was a bit of a let down from an oyster bar. - Steamed Mussels (garlic herb broth): This was a fantastic dinner portion! Every mussel was open and had a good texture and quality. I got these with the garlic herb broth, but you can also order these in a red beer-style broth. I was so glad I went classic since I also used it on my pasta side (below), and took my leftover broth home to sip as a soup. - Pasta (side): I needed to add some starch to my meal, and I wanted something that would yield some leftovers. The side of pasta comes plain, but Sheree offered to have it tossed in some butter and garlic to give it a little flavor. This was a great hack, in addition to putting some of the garlic herb broth on top! - Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio: Crisp, light and refreshing! This went particularly well with both the oysters and the garlicky broth with the mussels. Overall my experience here was fantastic, I was just a little disappointed with the quality of some of the oysters. Delicious and come hungry!! Fresh seafood all the time and they know how to do seafood right. Everything is cooked fresh and we saw the cooks make our house gumbo. The house gumbo included lobster, crab and shrimp. We split it and added a cup of rice and perfect amount for the 2 of us. We ordered a level 5 spice and it definitely had a kick to it plus it was piping out temperature wise. We sat at the bar and it was great watching them cook all the food. It comes with complimentary bread as well that's perfect for dipping. The waitress was very sweet and efficient with everyone's order. There are a lot of tables inside, more than the other oyster bars at other station casinos. They do cut off seating at 9pm. We came the previous night at 9pm and they refused to let us in even though we were 1 minute late. We did get mad about that since we were starving too. My linguine and clams with iced tea totaled $31.34. It was excellent. I would like to recommend the linguine and clams. It is exactly as it's pictured by so many others. The oysters were good, though on the smaller side. The menu felt pretty limited, and nothing really stood out for me beyond sharing a dozen oysters with my friend. She ordered a cup of Manhattan. When I asked her to rate it from 1-10, she said negative 1. Ouch! That alone made me glad I didn't order anything else. They did serve some warm bread, which was a nice touch. The newly branded Oyster Bar (no more Tides) at GVR is the most recent of the original Oyster Bar locations for Station Casinos. The nice part here is that it's a much bigger restaurant with traditional table seating for those of you who don't like to sit on the high top chairs that are one of the key characteristics of the Palace Station (and Durango) Oyster Bars. And they don't charge for bread like you are at Santa Fe Station's version! (And the bread is delicious) Of course the popular trendy items are the Pan Roasts (which I've had but don't really fit my flavor profile), but we come because one of our group loves the cioppino. As always, the cioppino hit the mark. Lots of seafood and the tomato based broth was the perfect sauce. I have tried a number of items trying to find my go to... today's experiment was gumbo and I went with traditional shrimp. This was full of shrimp and andouille sausage, but I'm not a spicy person, so I went with a lower spice level and didn't feel like the flavor was as deep as when I've had gumbo before. I have to admit that I took home leftovers and it tasted better the next day so maybe there's something about the sauce sitting for awhile. That said, it was tasty and maybe those of you who love gumbo will tell me I'm wrong. Don't worry there are still a few other options out there. (The Bouilla-Roast - a Bouillabaisse with a little pan roast sauce - may be next). Service was great as there were plenty of staff there for the number of tables at the time. Favorite restaurant in Vegas hands down. And no one knows about it so it's always empty. In a back corner of GVR near the sports book. Everything seafood done perfectly. I only get one thing here. Étouffée. I lived in Houston for 6 years and know what a good etoufffee is. This thing has crab, shrimp and lobster in it. Massive amounts for ~$25 (plus tax and tip). Everything is perfect. Order on a heat scale of 1-10. I go 10 which is enough to hurt me but not prevent me from finishing. I even add some tobacco for vinegar. But I am a heatonista. This level might hurt most of you. For me it's the perfect level of amazing taste and pain. Anyway the do so much more like chowders, boils, Chopino, jambalaya.... Any thing seafood. And affordable! Best seafood in Vegas if you want it in a sauce of any kind. Not sure I would just get a piece of fish here - not what they do! read more

Way more convenient and we like the ambiance better as GVR is nicer than Sunset Station and this restaurant is bigger. This is totally now our go to location! My family has been telling me to try Tides for a while now. I have to say it lived up the the hype. Shrimp cocktail was great. Huge shrimp, not fishy, and with great cocktail sauce as well. No notes. I ordered 1/2 a dozen oysters...and let me tell you these things came out and were HUGE. One looked like a tongue it was so huge. I couldn't eat them. So I sent them back, and the server advised I needed to order the Market oysters. Which I did, and those were a normal size. Didn't blow me away but were not bad oysters. Had to try their clam chowder and Caesar salad with jumbo shrimp. Amazing! Chowder was served at a perfect temperature. The Caesar salad tasted excellent and the jumbo shrimp tasted fresh. It's the day after Christmas and didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Sheree is also amazing! She's quick and attentive. Restaurant is very clean and well lit. As well as James. What a great oyster bar inside GVR Resort! I've been wanting to come here for a long time and we finally made it in. You can find Tides right next to the sportsbook. I made a reservation on OpenTable on 11/17/23 at 7:30pm. Upon our arrival, we were immediately acknowledged and seated by the hostess. Because it was our first time here, she suggested some of our favorite dishes to try. Afterwards, we were greeted by Jon, our host for the night. We were given a thing of bread to start off with, and though it was some good bread, I told myself, don't fill up on bread! I had my eye on the New England Clam Chowder, which I ended up ordering in a bowl. All my family is from New England...which, by the way, ALWAYS has the most amazing clam chowder, hands down. Though it was only a starter and not an actual entree, it was excellent and it was just enough to fill me up. Clam chowder is never complete without oyster crackers, which I was given to put in my bowl. My boyfriend ordered the seafood jambalaya, which was topped with mussels and clams. Other ingredients included shrimp, crab, lobster, and andouille sausage. Even after warning him that it was going to be really hot and that he should wait a few minutes, he ate it right when he got it and complained that he burned his tongue, because he didn't want to wait to eat it. Despite this, he commented that this was a great meal. He tried to finish the whole thing, but he couldn't and asked for a to-go box. This ended up being his lunch the next day. Be going here for years, will only return on half pts day. The prices are out of control for a casino owned restaurant. It's pasta! I ordered the shrimp linguine with add on of crab. The crab was shredded to smaller than baby oysters. I said you forgot $9.99 add on of crab and they said no thats it. It has 5 shrimp which I used to cut in half, now they're 1 biters. The food is cooked right there and it was lukewarm warm. I used to make 2 meals out of it, it's pasta the stuff is cheap, it's barely a hand full. Won't be eating there again. It's not even worth my 1/2 pts on Wednesday. Service is good but I cannot tip someone 20% when the cost is too high for the amount of food you get which is too little. We sat at bar. Service was great! Fast & tentative. Ordered some New Orleans style food: Charbroiled Oysters, Bouillabaisse, and New Orleans Gumbo. The oyster while not as good as our favorite place in French Quarter in New Orleans, it is surly the best in Vegas that we have tried. Bouillabaisse is very good as well. Holy crap thee worst Gumbo I have ever had, I'm so sorry. It's the next to mama Tina gumbo. I pray I'm okay cause I'm 10 weeks pregnant. Starting with New England clam chowda. I'm from Boston and it was no New England chowda, no flavor had to add salt and pepper which you shouldn't have to do. 2nd the New Zealand mussels with garlic wine sauce I believe absolutely no flavor it taste like water also had to add salt to the sauce to really taste anything. At this time we were given bread and butter the best thing on the menu. Finally I got gumbo and my man got jambalaya... Gumbo: NO NO NO HELL NOOOOO NEVER again will I never come here after that taste. It's undescribable but it was nasty as hell sorry but I gave it back and just ate the bread and butter. If you have no tasted buds like a chickens you will love it, cause chickens eat there own shit. Ordered a straight up Tanqueray Gin Martini chilled. They brought me a tasteless swill gin martini. When I sent it back, the waitress returned to tell me the bartender said it tasted like that because the gin was served "out of the gun" that they have it on tap and not in a bottle. Even if Tanqueray could be served out of a gun or tap; you would expect that from a dive bar - not a nice establishment. Okay, insult me once. I then said please bring me a "double" Makers Mark, neat, instead. She brings me a single, and tells me it's a double. Strike two. We've gone to Tides a number of times over the years. I normally always get the Pan Roast because it is so good but I'm trying to sample most of their other dishes. Tonight's choice was the New Orleans Gumbo. It was loaded with large shrimp, crab, lobster, sausage, and okra. I wish there would have been a little more sausage, but I might be too picky. I liked the Gumbo, but I probably won't order it again as there are other entrees I like more, such as the Etouffee. You did get a large serving, I had to get a to-go container to finish it off at home. My wife got her usual fish and chips. They serve three pieces of haddock that are fried nicely. It is not loaded with breading and is quite tasty. The chips/fries are good, but nothing overly memorable. What is memorable is the delicious warm sourdough bread that is served upon your arrival. The service was good and it's fun to sit at the bar and watch the cooks in the open kitchen prepare your food. Just FYI, Tides is only open from 4 pm to 9 pm.
