C & J Dryer Vent Cleaning - Burnt lint in a dryer

C & J Dryer Vent Cleaning

It has become an unusual experience to find a service company that combines quality, expertise,…read moretimeliness, and just damn nice people: C & J Dryer Vent is definitely one of those companies. For most folks - like my wife and I - the dryer vent is not a major thought. We take the filter out, clean it, and return it - and believe we have done all we can to keep our dryer clean and safe (i.e., fires do result from a build-up of lint). But we were surprised - and shocked--one day to find the dryer filter would no longer fit. A flashlight look revealed a horrible build-up of lint, packed so hard it could not be scraped. My wife contacted C & J for no particular reason, and wow: they fixed the problem, to be sure. But they did more than that: showing me before and after pictures of the lint build up, cleaning the vents, and charging an extremely fair price. On top of that the two folks - Chris and Joann - were friendly, engaging, and patient with my questions. I recommend this service 100% -- it is impossible to fathom another such service better than C & J. Errol Craig Sull

Green Genie - Mold that was hidden by a kitchen cabinet

I had a baby on the way, so I was kind of in a panic to get someone out before the due date (literally two days away). I called Green Genie and Mike (the owner) was over within a couple hours. Unlike some of the other companies that I called, Mike was reassuring and didn't try to play on my fears as a means to extract more money. Mike provided his analysis and then scheduled to come back the next day to do the actual work (he stated that an assessment wasn't required because the mold was less than 10 sq ft). In terms of what he actually did: 1) he cut out some of the compromised drywall, 2) he treated the studs and 3) he cleaned the carpet to remove any of the mold from the carpet fibers. Ultimately he was punctual, friendly, and very thorough. I'm quite satisfied with the service I received from Mike and would highly recommend Green Genie to anyone who (unfortunately) may be looking for similar services.

They were supposed to clean my cabinets, furniture, and walls of soot that accumulated from a kitchen fire. Terrible. They took a wet cloth and dragged it across my cabinets and furniture leaving water marks everywhere. They did not remove soot from cabinet handles, corners or inside the cabinets. Also when I asked them about the inside and dishes they took a wet cloth and wiped my dishes. I had to wash every cabinet and dish over. They mopped the floor but did not get up the soot that was ground in to the floor. It was money waisted. I am extremely disappointed. I had to hire another company to finished what Green Genie started. UGH!

I would recommend them,…read moreand I would use them again but below are some areas that I feel like they need to work on to make them a five star rating company. Their price is reasonable, however during their intake information they should have recorded that it was a two family house or at least ask a series of questions so that when they arrive the price is not nearly double of what I was initially quoted. When they arrive at the house they didn't seem like they wanted to do the job and I would give them the benefit of the doubt just because it is the holiday season and nobody wants to go to work, but that first impression is they weren't wanting to do the work. Pros -When they left it smelled clean -Feel as if they did a thorough job Cons -Didn't wear a mask during the service -Didn't wear booties for their feet, so they were tracking outside dirt -Left dirt behind and both the downstairs and upstairs bathroom which I had to clean up -Could've been more tactful with customer service not pleasant and they were complaining about things they encountered during the job within earshot so I heard everything

I can definitely tell the difference- less dust in air and waking up with no congestion since they were here. (Then made a phone call to his boss, who called us lots of names while the kid's volume was all the way up. My husband had a few choice words, then he was summarily removed from the premesis.) IAP were very professional from start to finish. We found them at the Buffalo Home Show initially, and were able to make an appointment very quickly with a quote over the phone. The guys who came out were quick and efficient. They have a completely enclosed vacuuming system, so no gross stuff gets away. When they are done, they show you the filters they used and all your bagged vent bunnies. Our system was resealed, and we have had no problems since. It has been 3 years, so we are due to get our system cleaned again, and as an added reminder, IAP was at my school last week cleaning the vents before the kids start. The guys there were very friendly and spent 2 days making sure the entire system was good. Can't wait to work with them again.

The only reason I called was for a receipt.. but I did accept. I would use them again if it was a different crew.. I am happy with the work that was completed. If they did the job properly, it would've been four or five stars instead of just three.

Having heard wonderful things about the service and with a recommendation from a friend I had high expectations. Joe arrived right on time, which I appreciated, and he was friendly and took care to review everything with me, especially since the charges were quite high. For this appointment, I had a couch, loveseat (both with loose back cushions), two chairs, an ottoman, and an area rug cleaned. Joe spent about an hour and a half on the actual cleaning process, though he was here for a total of two hours. At the end of the visit, he explained that some stains, particularly those caused by my elder mom, wouldn't budge, and that the couches were heavily soiled, but he did his best. Yes, I have two dogs, the couches are dirty hence the cleaning service. In addition too coffee stains on the one chair, that the advertise to be able to take care of. After everything dried, I was unfortunately disappointed with the results, especially given the cost, $700 plus. Just to see if there was any improvement possible, I used my own little green machine with carpet cleaner. In less than 15 minutes, it collected a bucket full of filthy water, indicating that there was still a lot of dirt left behind. I understand that not all stains can be removed, but I do believe that dirt should come out during cleaning. I also attempted to clean the stained chairs myself and was able to make some progress. Because of this, I requested my area rug back, as I am unsure about their cleaning process and feel it did not meet my expectations of clean. See pictures showing the dirty water from my green machine along with a comparison of the cushions after both cleanings. I wanted to bring this to your attention and hope you won't make the same mistake and waste your money and time.
