    Great views of the sound

Oxford Suites in Silverdale is a great place to stay when visiting the Pacific North West. The hotel is situated in the heart of Silverdale and great location for just parking your car and walking around Silverdale and exploring. Lots of places to eat just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is located right across from the sound, very nice views and lots of walking paths. The hotel room is comfortable, large and clean. Ask for a room facing the sound. Parking is free and there are plenty of spots in the front and side of the hotel. They will clean your room twice a week and more if you request it. Free breakfast every morning that's pretty good and has everything you can possibly want. The hotel will give you a drink coupon for a free drink during Happy Hour. Service at the hotel is awesome. Everyone is very nice and hospitable and they really do everything possible to make you feel at home. I had to work a few days from the hotel, and the internet worked perfectly. I will definitely stay at Oxford Suites, great place.

We ended up here after a horrible experience at the Best Western across the street. This hotel was clean, spacious, friendly, and had several cool perks. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean. They give you tickets for a free drink every night, complimentary soup & salad, and free breakfast (not great, but pretty decent!). We had a plumbing issue and they were quick to help and left things clean. We had a two queen room with a view. The rain pools on the balcony floor (you need a squeegee) but it was still a lovely place, overall!

AWARENESS: Plans for this month were to be sipping on vino and snacking on antipasto in Italy but the Rona and politics killed that noise. So, the wife and I did the next best thing. With both of our boys in port, stateside and in they're respective duty bases - ROAD TRIP! First stop. Naval Sub Base in Bangor Washington. NARRATIVE: With our planned trip to Italy cancelled. The wife and I decided to visit our boys. Both are currently on active duty in the Navy. Our oldest is in San Diego and our middle on a submarine, home ported in Bangor Washington. We decided to visit our middle son first. While making travel plans to travel to Bangor, WA, I contacted several hotels in and around the sub base. The Navy Lodge, Navy Gateway Inn & Suites and Hilton. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. The Rona took a toll on those hotels too. Then I defaulted to my Yelp app and got a solid hit. The Oxford Suites in Silverdale Washington, which is only a few minutes from Bangor. SCENE: The Oxford Inn & Suites sits on and overlooks the waterways of the Dyes Inlet. The hotel is also surrounded by many shops, restaurants and beautiful, tall evergreen trees. The views in the morning as the sun begins to crest and warm the bays water is breathtaking. EVIDENCE: I'll do this with the Pros and Cons approach: Pros: 1. Cleanliness is Godliness has to be this hotels model. 2. The staff - all professional. Helpful. Friendly and, approachable. They are by far the best I've encountered during any of my hotel stays. 3. The hotel - a bit old and outdated but, they've done a great job with the cleanliness to keep it looking sharp, welcoming and inviting. 4. The food - their complimentary breakfast is the bomb. For those of you who know me and my picky ways. Saying the food is great does NOT come easy. Cons: 1. The stairwells - really need corner mirrors so one can see who is coming around or maybe lurking around the corners. 2. Lighting - in and around the property could greatly be improved by installing LED bright white light bulbs. The bathrooms in our room were a bit too dark. 3. Bathroom mirrors - the lack of good light in the room bathrooms could be fix by installing LED lighted mirrors with defogging. It's costly but, the guest would welcome it. RECOMMENDATION(S): This hotel has it all. Scenic views. A close proximity to shopping and restaurants. Great food and a super friendly and helpful staff. An A+ in my book and hopefully yours if you need a place to stay while in the Bangor area. CUDOS Oxford and its staff for a job well done!

Very comfy and clean place to rest your head. They gave me a discount because my mom was in the hospital. The bed was very comfortable and the room was large. I would have given it a better rating if the breakfast would have been better. The eggs were cold and that's not good. The oatmeal was cold too. I really look forward to a nice breakfast. Especially since it was not a cheap Place to stay. Nice location on the bay.

Overheard the "manager" female, talking loudly outside on her smoke break gossiping about a conversation I had with here at check in. 1. Phone in room by broken 2. No toilet paper 3. While the room was clean, I have no problems with that, the water never fully turned off in the shower. Always dripped, and not a small drip. So much wasted water. I took the lightbulb out of the microwave, it was burnt out, took it to the front desk, and they never did replace it. I also had to reprogram the tv remote because it wasn't set up for the tv, only the cable box, so the power button and volume buttons didn't work. After a little goggle search, I learned how to program it, so you're welcome if you get our room. The clientele is a bit sketchy. Some one was arrested when we were there, our next door neighbor. Of course heard and saw all the cops and heard the entire situation happen. People pushing shopping carts going into rooms. The breakfast was ok, although all the bread items were still frozen. This is a place I would not stay if I was alone.

They had a decent sized kitchen, fully equipped with a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and an induction cooktop. Pots/pans, toaster, coffee maker, dishes and utensils were also included. The staff were also very accommodating whenever we requested anything such as towels or dish soap, and if we needed their help with anything. They have 4 washers and 4 dryers for guests to use (I'm not sure if there were more upstairs). It was $1 for the washer, and 0.25 for 10 mins of drying. They offered a complimentary breakfast for guests in the lobby. Some of the items were individual sized milk, cereal, fruit cup, sliced apple packs, boiled eggs, pastries, and sometimes breakfast sandwiches. They are usually really good at refilling the refrigerated items if they notice it's running low....but get there early if you want your coffee. I usually picked up breakfast around 8:30-8:50 and sometimes the coffee canisters are already empty, which is understandable. It isn't a big deal because you can make a pot in your own room, or you can go across the street to the Mini Nex and just buy some there. The only problem I noticed with our stay was that the rug around the AC unit in the bedroom was soaking wet. We would turn the AC/heater off whenever we left the hotel but it would still be wet. We mentioned it to the house keepers and they put towels around it for about a few days, but it was still wet. We didn't mind too much because we were out and about most of the time so it didn't bother us. Even with this complaint, I still give our stay at the Navy Lodge-Bangor a 5 star rating because of the professionalism of the staff, and the price that can't be beat!

The rooms were reasonably priced. The rooms were very clean. Housekeeping staff were all great and kept our room nice and clean throughout our lengthy stay. Everyone at the front desk were helpful and professional but Grace at the front desk was amazing. Grace was friendly yet professional and went out of her way to accommodate our needs with an ADA room due to my recent back surgery and car accident after arriving to the area. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and so firm/hard that neither my husband or myself had a good nights sleep. Each morning we would wake up feeling like we were run over by a truck. The free breakfast was good. Very limited but worked fine for us. The coffee was terrible. The AC/Heater unit in our room was unpredictable, and made it hard to find a comfortable temperature to set it at. We had a few interactions with the manager, Elizabeth Levit. She was rude and unprofessional. It's obvious by her demeanor that she does not like her job. Luckily we didn't have to deal the manager often during our stay, but the few times we did were unpleasant.

Next she brought me, then we brought our kids, then I stayed here for 10 days while doing business in Bremerton... it has become our regular digs whenever we are in the PNW (Seattle area anyway). Each member of my family loved it from the first night's stay, and our appreciation deepens every time we go back to it. It is aptly named. Weather permitting, the views from "Bird's Eye View" are wonderful. When the place is socked in with drizzle and grey skies, the views are still wonderful-- Darryl and Jody keep the property garden-lovely in all seasons. It is equally lovely indoors, with a cozy Northwestern vibe that makes it good news to "have to" simply relax around the home. Darryl and Jody genuinely make you feel at home, too. Both are great hosts, open and friendly, yet unobtrusive when you need your space. You'll have a lot of space here too. At least one of the three bedrooms was more spacious than our entire 3-bedroom apartment back in LA, without even including the attached full-size bathroom! The main floor of the house is also available to guests, including the family room with its cheery fireplace and the nap-magnet couch. (I'll let you discover which of the couches is the nap magnet) It is easy to find, but the hill getting up to Kaster from the highway is respectably steep. Call Darryl & Jody before you come, if the weather is bad, and they will advise you-- there is actually another way to get up to the top of that hill, a much less steep way, but it requires some careful directions from your hosts. Your hosts, it must be said, are amazing cooks. The breakfasts here are delicious, wonderful, amazing, generous, and served in a dedicated dining room with linen, crystal glassware, candles and silverware, giving it a very formal and Northwest-elegant feel. (So, think cashmere sweater-vest, not tuxedo-vest). All sorts of happy anecdotes are coming to mind but I don't have the time to regale you with all of them. Suffice to say that you will love this place.
