This is a nice little Oxfam book shop in leafy Highgate. But for me it's overpriced.
On the good side the staff were friendly and they seemed to have a nice selection, including a smattering of first editions and rarities.
But it is small compared with other branches I've been in. Also the prices seemed too high. A few examples, I saw a comic (unknown soldier, vol. 1) for £7, it's currently £7.50 new from Amazon, or 93p used. Zadie Smith's NW was £3.50. I understand that it is for charity but they're selling used items and the prices should reflect that.
So just don't expect to get a bargain I guess, which is how I prefer my charity shopping. read more
