I called 4-5 plumbers to fix it. 3 came out before Jeff and his son and they all had different things they all wanted to do which were all expensive and included opening walls, pressure checks and very invasive solutions. When I spoke with Jeff on the phone he had me send a picture of where the leak was detected and he said he had a good idea of what he thought would be due to his years of experience. He came out and tightened the key valve at the fireplace and that's exactly what the problem was. They were responsive and came out within an hour after speaking with him. He fixed it for a reasonable price. He told me to call pge to turn it back on and check it which I did and the leak was fixed. More importantly he said to call him when pge was there and if that wasn't it he would come right out when pge was there. Fortunately that wasn't necessary as he fixed it perfectly. Recently, my wife and I called Matt at Main St. Plumbing via a referral from one of our good friends. We were trying to decide whether to replace our 25 year old Jacuzzi shower pan that had cracked (due some underbelly softening), or to get it repaired and resurfaced via a fiberglass redo, and just have a new drain and seals put in. After chatting with Matt (via a phone consult) and sending him some pictures, it became quite evident that the original drain pipe seals, crown nut (missing), and surrounding flange seal had failed. That has most likely caused the under-pan softening (water damage) and eventual cracking. While that isn't great news, knowing this information (based upon Matt's expertise), has prevented us from spending a couple thousand dollars trying to repair and resurface the fiberglass pan only to have the cracking problem reappear (i.e. a waste of money). Matt was easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and had seen this problem before... As such, he was able to guide us in the right direction. However, what sets them apart for us was that 3 months later an issue appeared in the same toilet- water started slowly trickling from the tank to the toilet bowl. Now its possible the valve tore during the original repair, or was at the brink and got overlooked. Oly came back the same day I texted him and repaired it at no extra charge. Again, they had the new valve in their truck and fixed it in 10 minutes. This is what we need when we mean good customer service. They stand behind their work and is much appreciated.

Fortunately the previous owners had put little plastic bins under the sink, so it was able to catch a lot of the dripping water before it ruined the wood. Contacted our home warranty company last night and were assigned Mitchell's Plumbing. I think we've had them out 1-2 times in the past. Their scheduler called early this morning and said she would try to get us scheduled the same day. I loved that because I didn't realize how dependent I was on our kitchen sink to wash hands or rinse items! The scheduler (I can't remember her name!) called a few hours later and let me know that the tech would be on his way to us next. Soon the tech showed up (forgot to ask him his name) and took his shoes off outside! That was so considerate of him to do so. I don't think I would have asked him to take off his shoes since we were on a tile floor, but it was a nice touch. He quickly diagnosed the garbage disposal as needing replacement, which was fortunately covered by our awesome home warranty. An hour or so later, we had a new garbage disposal installed! Not the same brand as our old one (Insinkerator) but he said it was the same horsepower and the one the home warranty company covered. We didn't want to pay anything additional so we went with what was provided, WasteMaid. As we were walking towards the door, I asked the tech how long garbage disposals typically last. He said they could last anywhere from 3 to 20 years depending on your luck or how one uses it. Guess we will see how long this one lasts! Mitchell's Plumbing does a great job with getting things done fast. I do notice the techs don't do much small talk, which is probably why they can get same-day jobs done so efficiently. I guess I'm just used to contractors hanging around and chit chatting but for Mitchell's, they always seem to be rushing off to the next job, so I just stay out of their way instead of asking them if they want to be in my Yelp review photo lol. They get the job done, professionally and efficiently, so that's what's most important!
