I called a dozen different dental practices in the area, but none of them was able to accommodate my daughter until well into the following week. When I called Lafayette Family dentistry, they made a very positive first impression by agreeing to fit us in that evening with only 45 minutes notice. I was even more impressed when they scheduled her for additional work that Saturday. On Sunday, when the office is normally closed, we were able to reach one of the dentists on the emergency line with a question about my daughter's new crown. I was grateful for the good customer service, but I wanted a little more experience with the practice before switching my whole family of 8 to Lafayette. After nine months of experience with this office, here are my observations: This practice is a very low-pressure, non-threatening environment for patients. Dr. Lepelletier is friendly, knowledgeable, technically proficient, and practical in his approach to dental care. The evening and Saturday hours make life very easy. The office staff are very pleasant. I'm especially impressed with the ability of this office to address insurance matters. Before we have a procedure, the billing manager let's us know what we will be paying out of pocket. I'm grateful to have stumbled on these dentists, and I look forward to seeing them for years to come! I'm seldom this enthusiastic about a medical provider, but they're really doing this right.

I told the person at the time that I scheduled that I had had bad experiences in other offices with vague and evasive pricing practices. I said I wanted the price stated in writing and signed by the doctor. Very simple. I said they could either mail it to me or have it ready the day of the appointment. After more than seven months of waiting when they wanted me to confirm the appointment ,I said it was conditionally confirmed pending my review of the price quote when I arrived since they had not mailed it and there was no longer enough time. Sue acted as if she had never heard any of this before even though she is who scheduled the appointment in April. Then she said she needed to check with the doctor to see if he would be willing to put a price in writing. What kind of legitimate service provider is unwilling to give a first time customer a simple written price quote on a straight forward item like a standard cleaning and associated x rays??? I could understand if it was an unknown item. Or if something was found during the cleaning then of course there would need to be a price adjustment. She claimed that they didn't do the things that I detailed to her from other offices. But as soon as they were asked for a simple item to reassure me they refused and said my appointment was cancelled. I didn't even make into the office and it all fell apart. I strongly suggest that you avoid this office entirely. I rated at one star because I wasn't able to go any lower.

I have used Family Smiles Dentistry for many years. They are nice people and make you feel at home…read more With that being said the fillings they put in would always chip away within months. I thought it could be me since my teeth are not the greatest. I had my previous dentures on top for almost thirty years. They were getting worn down and not fitting the same as I aged. I decided it was time for a new upper plate. Family Smiles made me an upper plate and within 4 months a tooth fell out when a little bit of licorice got near the front. I went back and it took two weeks of no teeth. I received them back and within a month the same tooth came out again. I had no insurance and paid for these dentures with my own money. I also paid $225 to have the tooth repaired. The second time the dentist said they will fix them right this time. So now they wanted another $225.00 for this repair. This would bring the grand total of $1800.00 out of my pocket. I told them I was not going to pay for the same tooth. After that tooth was repaired a hairline crack started up the middle of the plate. The dentures were thin where you can see through them. The teeth were slightly recessed into the plate so there was no way these teeth would stay in. What garbage! They have the nerve to keep sending me bills for the second repair. They said they used Ark Labs in Brooklyn Ny. If you want to go for a cleaning, that's fine. But if you need fillings or plates don't waste your money or your insurance money because you will walk around toothless while repairs are made over and over again. All that money for dentures I threw out not even 14 months after receiving them. I went to Aspen Dental and had another set made which I paid for out of pocket again. However these teeth look more natural, fit tightly without any adhesive. Don't let Family Smiles cut corners with cheap products in your mouth.

The dentist was friendly,funny and down to earth and for a teenager that means a lot! He told her what to do and didn't try to push any unnecessary treatments or procedures on us. They were able to fit her in for a cleaning later in the day and Sarah the hygienist was wonderful..my daughter really liked that she explained what she doing and why. Also told my daughter how to maintain her "bright whites" until the next visit. I liked them so much I made an appointment! Let's see how it goes for mom..but so far so good!
