I would give them a zero if I could. When I called to set up an appointment for pain in my tooth I gave them my insurance information. They called back to say they accepted it and an appointment was set up for 2 months later. When I called 2 days before my appointment to confirm they told me that they would not accept my insurance as I was out of network but they would only give me a 15% discount on the cost of the exam. The person I spoke to Joey was rude. I then received a text from them saying I has confirmed my appointment and would have to pay a $75 cancellation fee. When I called back I spoke to another staff member who said the insurance misinformation happens a lot so I would not be responsible for the cancelation fee. I had a satisfactory dental cleaning; the hygienist was friendly, thorough, and professional. Unfortunately, the positives stop here as far as I'm concerned. The receptionist, Amanda, is absolutely deplorable and Dr. Syed should be embarrassed to have her as representation for his practice. To say she needs an attitude check and perhaps some workplace etiquette lessons would be the understatement of the century. I made a March 6th cleaning appointment for my husband. On Thursday, February 16th, I received a voicemail from Amanda. She had an earlier appointment available and wanted to know if he wanted to switch. It didn't work with his schedule, so I didn't call back. On Monday, February 20th, I received another voicemail from Amanda. She let us know that she needed my husband's insurance information. This was at 3:13pm. At 5:34pm, I received a text message. Amanda informed me that she had called "a bunch" and that she needed my husband's information or they can't keep his appointment. I let her know that a) calling twice hardly qualifies as "a bunch" and b) only one of those calls pertained to needing insurance info. I was also perplexed as to why this was so incredibly pressing that it warranted a text message less than 3 hours after the initial request. We were enjoying our long weekend and would have gladly provided the information the next morning. I didn't find the text message to be at all professional and certainly didn't appreciate being made to feel like I was dropping the ball on anything. I told Amanda to go ahead and cancel the appointment and to have a wonderful evening. Rather than attempt to rectify a situation that resulted in losing two new patients, she opted to wait a good 12 hours to respond, "Great! Have a blessed day!" Do yourself a favor and steer clear. I'm a new patient coming in to see them they made me wait 40 minutes passed my appointment time, i asked for a cleaning and a x ray of my wisdom teeth and an opinion on whether or not they should be extracted. they ignored my request for the cleaning took an x-ray and just said "its up to you if you want to get them removed" provided no insight. complete waste of time seeing them. said they could refer me to an oral surgeon but also the guy they referred me to they don't know if he accepts my insurance so what good are they? none. very displeased, a useless office doctor seemed uninterested didn't care I won't be coming back. read more

Absolutely worst dentist I have ever had. Dr Syed attempted a root canal after giving me 4 shots of novacaine in the wrong area of my gums. Every time he tried to drill it caused severe pain. He actually rolled his eyes at me like it was my fault that it caused so much pain. He left the room frustrated at me! Guy is a sadist awful excuse for a dentist. read more

The dental hygienists have always been good to my kids and I. I haven't had any dental procedures there in order to comment or rate them.

Avoid at all costs. They constantly cancel appointments an hour before. For those of us that work that is an issue. They are only interested in billing the insurance company and getting you to pay a second deductible for extra visits. They try to get an additional deductible from you by having you come in for a cleaning (1st deductible) and then have you come back and see the dentist (2nd deductible) because he is not available to review your x-rays. Then if the doctor finds an issue, you need to come back to have the work done (3rd deductible). The hygienist must work on commission because they were arguing in front of me that one of their coworkers took their next patient because they were running behind schedule. read more

I have brought my son here twice now after failed attempts at finding a good dentist in our area. The hygienist was great with him on his first trip ever to the dentist, he trusted her immensely. They have tv's in the rooms with cartoons to distract the little ones from getting their teeth cleaned. They did find a small surface cavity on one of his upper canine teeth. I was nervous bringing my child in to be drilled but the dentist had his tooth drilled and filled in under one minute. My son freaked out just a little bit because of the bite plate, probably causing some claustrophobia not being able to close his mouth but the dentist was so fast and so precise that in a matter of seconds he was finished. The one thing that I wish that had was a little toy box or stickers or something to give to the kids after a visit of such stress. They gave him nothing. So I took it upon myself to bring him out for a toy for a job well done! read more

I would recommend this dentist as I always feel welcome, and comfortable. I have had many things done here and have always been pleased. He also is very good at giving a needle to numb you.. gets an "A" from me as I get very nervous about that part of my visit. I have been going here for years.. never had a bad experience. Joe who is there to greet you in my opinion is the best! He always is knowledgeable and helpful. Eli is my favorite dental hygienist.. I am in the middle of getting an implant done, not as bad as I thought it would be. read more

I went to one appointment with this dental office. The dentist hit a cracked tooth-with much force- with a dental instrument to determine a pain level. After I told her I rarely experience discomfort with that tooth. It certainly hurt after that. Plus a terrible chair-side attitude. I wouldn't bring my dog to this office. read more

The pediatric dentist is impatient and rough (Go figure, since he works with kids). The hygienists always seem angry and they do not have a good bedside manner. The "sleepy juice" sends the kids into a rabid rage further angering the dentist, they do better without it. If they mess up, it's automatically your fault. Not to mention the wait. I literally waited 1 1/2 hours (guess my appointment time didn't matter). Maybe a decent place for adults who do not fear the dentist. Otherwise, my advice would be to look for a new place! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL PRACTICE!!! My husband, 4 year old son and I moved to the area and needed a new dentist. We decided to try out Merchant Square and the pediatric dentist. I tried it out first and the cleaning was ok but the hygienist told me I had the start of gingivitis!! I've had perfect teeth and healthy gums my entire life with no cavities, and then I hear this news!!! I found out later on that I didn't have gingivitis at all!!!! I brought my 4 year old son for his first hygiene appointment that went well until the pediatric dentist, Dr. Pak came in to do the exam. My son didn't like the idea of x-rays so we decided to do them next time. Dr. Pak did an exam and said my son had two cavities....without even seeing x-rays!! So we came back to get his two teeth fixed but only made it as far as the injection. My son had the nitrous oxide, but it wasn't working and didn't calm him down enough. The dentist insisted on doing the fillings still. He was very frustrated and mad, and began threatening my son that he would have to hold him down if he didn't listen. The dentist and staff were trying to convince me to have my son take the "sleepy juice" but then began to tell me all the side affects!!!! I said HECK no!!!! We didn't get the supposed cavities filled because my son was soooo upset I took him home! After all the trauma my son went through, he was absolutely afraid of dentists! About 6 months went by and I was able to take him to a dentist that I used to go to, and he said my son absolutely did NOT have any cavities. He even said his teeth were more than perfect! Dr Pak and that practice should be sued and SHUT down for all the malpractice he does!!!!! read more

I've had a crown done by Dr.Syed three years ago and it already needs to be replaced. It does not fit my tooth correctly and when it was first done I complained that I was in pain and could not close my mouth. My appointment was rushed so they could shave down my crown and it was left rough and still did not fit correctly. I would not recommend going to this dentist they are rude and sloppy with their work. read more

With my sons one front tooth knocked out and 2others dangling, the recording states to call 911 or call during office hours. When Finally getting in touch on Monday, best they could do was 4pm. The pediatric dentist is a nasty and impatient man! My daughter needed to have some teeth pulled and spacers a few years ago when she was 4 and they gave her so much "sleepy juice" she could walk straight or really talk for 2 days. Also I had a 2 year old and the dentist kicked me out of the room and I had to leave my daughter strapped down tight and screaming. I was TRAUMATIZED! I called her father immediately so he could come in the room with her. I hadn't made an appt for her until now, shes 8. Her aunt took her this time and she said he was extremely rough and verified by both her and my daughter he told her "stay still and behave, I dont have time for this today!" I had walked in with my son and the hygienist told me he needed 2 baby root canals BEFORE XRAYS were even done. I sat there for an hour, experienced another family go through EXACTLY what I went through years ago and I told her to plz email my children's xrays, I dont want that dr. Near my kids and I wont be coming back. AVOID THIS PLACE at least until they fire this guy and get someone who is actually better with children. The worst dentist, please do not take your family here!!! they broke one of my daughter's tooth and did not care about it and Monday my other daughter had some cavities taking care of and today is Friday and she's still has pain !! The denstist was very rough and rude the whole time my daughter said!! After switching insurances to my husband's insurance I called Merchant Square Dental prior to my routine cleaning to ensure they were able to accept my insurance . The receptionist stated that although my insurance was not in network they did accept the insurance. I asked for her to please review with me the cost of a routine exam at which time she did. I received my exam and the dentist stated that I needed to get 5 fillings redone. I asked the receptionist to please contact me with the cost of each filling before I scheduled my next appointment. I did not hear back so I called the office again at which time the receptionist stated that it would be $25.00 per filling. I booked my appointment to get two done first , and the cost was $50.00. After my visit one of the teeth that the dentist redid the filling on began causing me pain. The dentist stated that I would potentially need to get a root canal if the pain continued. I did not feel any pain until after he replaced the filling... I went tonight for a check up on the tooth that was causing me pain and to get the three final fillings redone. When I showed up for my appointment the receptionist stated that I was only scheduled to get two fillings redone and that it would cost $299.00 for TWO. No one called me stating that there was a change in charges and the receptionist could not explain to me why it would now be $299.00 for two fillings. There have been zero changes in my insurance, so it is very baffling that all of a sudden now it would be such a drastic increase. It is safe to say I did not stay for the appointment. read more

I have been a patient at Merchant Square Dental From 2012-May 2017. During the years I have had about 17 crowns done here. Many of which needed replacement in under three years one in as little as one year. I had to pay out of pocket thousands if dollars because they were placed too recently. I was told by dr syed that I was to blame for the crowns being replaced due to my lack of care. I have recently moved to Florida where I am under the care of another dentist who said all of my crowns were placed incorrectly causing food to get stuck and decay to form under my crowns. This is costing me my IRA savings plan and discomfort. I have sustained gum disease causing me to undergo painful expensive dental treatments to save my teeth. Just recently I have had another root canal in hopes of saving my tooth. Not sure if this was successful or not. I went to them because they took my coverage. I believed dr sied when he said it was my fault. It wasn't. They were placed so poorly which allowed the decay to form. I should have gone to another dentist and paid out of pocked but I didn't know. Please learn from my very very expensive mistake and stay away. It is costing me my retirement savings to correct his damage. read more

Shotty work, very unprofessional. Had cap on a tooth that had bleeding and infection because of poor fit on gum line and food trap between teeth because of poor fit. Wife had bridge and color was way off darker than her teeth and it was towards the front of the mouth. He informed her she should go some where else.....had temp in her mouth at the time..... the owner of the practice who was doing the work came back in the room and informed her he would give her one more chance. big of him.... had bridge installed at another dentist at our expense.
