From the owner: Hello! For those of you who don’t know us our names are Sara Scollan, Alex Plis, and Joe Plis, and…read morewe are the proud new proprietors of Sennett Still and Barrel. Our goal is to provide the area with a wine and spirit packaging store with knowledgeable and friendly customer service in a clean and convenient fashion. We have all lived in the area our whole lives and love this community. We have owned businesses locally for several years and greatly appreciate everything this area has to offer. We love working with others and up until about two years ago it was always our plan to someday open a wedding venue. Unfortunately for us, and the rest of the world, Covid-19 changed our plans. The business’s we own were some of the most effected by Covid restrictions and that forced us to change our outlook and lead us to where we are today. It’s funny how things work out sometimes but we couldn’t be more happy and proud with the business we have established. We are located at 354 Grant Ave Road in the town of Sennett in the former Moran, Moran, and Daulphin building and can not wait to open our doors to everyone this Tuesday, March 15th. We are looking forward to serving you and can’t wait for you to tell us what you think we’ve done right and more importantly what you think we can do better in hopes to make each experience with us more enjoyable. Thank you in advance for your patronage and we can’t wait to see you soon. Cheers!

During my last visit, I came with a friend and the staff member behind the counter was not only friendly but also had a great sense of humor. I couldn't find my ID (it was hiding behind my phone, classic me), and the staff cracked a joke that had us both laughing. I can't really comment on how helpful the staff are with giving suggestions since we knew what we wanted, but their friendliness definitely made a positive impression. We picked up a whole bunch of wine and some soju, and there was still so much more to explore. The selection here is pretty extensive as they have some local options. Cheers!

They also have a good array of sake at the back. Wide price range from $8 bottles of crap to $60 bottles of excellent wines from legit names. They also have decent hours: I believe they're open every day and stay open fairly late (although the hours on Google were incorrect today, it said until 10 and they closed at 8 so I was glad I called). Their main downside is the staff working. It's a slew of very very nice, young college age women who are as sweet as can be but know nothing about wine. This is not meant as judgmental, I also knew nothing about wine at their age, but you simply cannot establish yourself as a serious wine shop without employees who can answer basic questions about what's in stock. Again, they have all been extremely nice. I don't blame the employees for this but just a note to the owners that some training would be extremely beneficial. Overall will absolutely go back. No competition in collegetown.

Sammy's NYC Deli and Grill opens early & stays open late. (6 AM during the week/8 AM on the weekend. 10 PM or later every night.) Looking for a quick bite with variety and generous servings? Sammy's NYC Deli delivers on the essentials. The name pays homage to the Big Apple, (where the owner has two other deli establishments) but doesn't have typical New York City prices, crowds, or rushed NYC edge! Instead, you're greeted by genuinely friendly staff eager to help with the ordering. Sammy's seems to operate primarily as a high-volume takeout spot, perfectly suited for grabbing a quick, freshly made lunch on the go. The team working the grill & fryer moves fast, making it a reliable pick when you need quick service without sacrificing quality. Here is what really stands out: The serving sizes are generous across the board. You definitely get your money's worth, making the overall value hard to beat. My Italian sub was so large, it was lunch for two days in a row. It came with 6 chicken wings in the flavor of my choice. The garlic parm were very tasty, but just a bit bready. Another item ordered was a double Smashburger and it was excellent! Came with lots of melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, crispy french fries and a soda for around $20. The menu spans a wide array of options, so whether you're in the mood for a packed deli sandwich, a warm hot dish, a salad, or even breakfast , everything tastes fresh and is made-to-order. If there is one area that could use a little streamlining, it's the number of combo specials, which can be a little confusing. Trimming down or simplifying those descriptions would make ordering even smoother. All in all, Sammy's NYC Deli is a great Main St., North Syracuse spot for takeout (or DoorDash, GrubHub or Uber eats ) top-tier friendliness, huge fresh portions, and great value that leaves both your wallet and your appetite satisfied.

When my partner and I walked in, we were greeted by a man at the counter and mentioned it was our first time visiting. His response was about as uninterested as it gets. Instead of offering a menu or any guidance, he simply pointed off to the side and told us to order when we were ready. Not exactly a welcoming first impression. The space itself was small, with a few tables, drink coolers, baked goods, and smoothie options. After placing our order, we waited...and waited. After exactly 40 minutes, I finally asked about the status, especially after watching another couple come in after us, order, and leave with their food before we received ours. I understand that takeout and delivery orders are part of the business, but in-house customers should not be completely overlooked. There was no communication, no sense of urgency, and no effort to acknowledge the delay. It genuinely felt like we didn't matter as customers. And for what? Two sandwiches--a roast beef and a turkey. Having worked in restaurants myself, I can confidently say that should not take 40 minutes under normal circumstances. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough to warrant one. We will not be returning. Save yourself the time and look elsewhere.
