This is hands down one of the BEST hotels i have ever stayed in! Super funky, and amazing amenities. I don't know many hotels that have a free laundry room, free happy hour with free drinks! And an amazing breakfast buffet. Also free snacks whenever you want if you go to the bar. The location is a bit out of the way for the core of the city but it was so peaceful and quiet and there are some amazing restaurants on the water side to eat at. I spent two weeks in Sydney and am so glad that I called ovolo my home! First of all, the staff is always welcoming and accommodating. As we got a very early flight in, they had us use the gym and shower facilities to clean up and change (19 hour flight, eek!). They were also able to get us into our room a couple hours early (much appreciated). In the meantime, they had our luggage stored securely. Secondly, I LOVED our room. It was roomy, comfortable, and had an AMAZING view. We ordered to city-voo king and had a gorgeous daytime and nighttime view of the local Harbour (not Sydney or darling) and city skyline. Also, the window opened up to the Harbour and it was a wonderful breeze each evening. We were on the fourth floor, and just felt it couldn't be beat. We also appreciated the self serve laundry, very handy on a two week trip! There are three washers and three dryers. Side note: though much appreciated, I wish I had brought my own detergent, as dry detergent seemed to irritate me (not their fault). They are also in close proximity (as in part of the same building or wharf) with multiple restaurants. See my reviews on Alibi, Kingsley's, and Aki's Indian, all part of the wharf or the building. Also, Harry's Cafe de Wheels is just a few steps away (I also have a review on that). Though we didn't have any bad dining experiences, I do think there are many other more interesting dining experiences in the city. That being said, alibi was very interesting and unique and Harry's is a must try. They also have free WiFi, free mini bar (red wine, white wine, beer, water, sparking water, juice, milk) all restocked daily. Also a free happy hour with various cocktails and very yummy avocado and chips as well as other bar food (to order). Location was ideal. It was in a quieter part of town, but a very short walk to Sydney Harbour, Darling Harbour, the Rocks, CBD, and multiple city green spaces. There are some stairs to climb depending on where you're going, but there are also multiple cabs at your disposal if you're not into walking. Personally, my husband and I walked almost everywhere to get a feel for the city. Almost everything was within a 10-30 minute walk, depending on how far we went (we went well into Darlinghurst and King's Cross as well as some further destinations). Anyway, this is one of my FAVORITE hotel experiences. Hip, fun, but also quiet upstairs and out of the way. Gorgeous views (with the right room), and lots of freebies. Easy access to anywhere and everywhere. You can't go wrong. read more

What a fantastic hotel! The staff are very helpful and make you feel welcome. The style is very modern throughout and you even have a tablet and amazon Alexa in your room. Our room had two floors with the bedroom and full bathroom upstairs. A half bath, couch, table and mini fridge etc was on the first floor. The hotel is in a great location to walk to the gardens and even view the opera house. We did have one unfortunate occurrence. We decided to order food in for dinner as it was very smoky outside with the fires (this was December 2019). We had wanted to eat at the bar/lounge area in the lobby during happy hour but the second a bartender saw our food he told us we could not eat there. Apparently that area was vegan only and we would get in trouble with the other bartenders if we ate there. This was very confusing as there is no sign and we were not told of this beforehand otherwise we may have made a different choice. He was nice enough to let us take a drink to our room where we ate dinner. It's a bit odd that that area is vegan only considering it is right beside where breakfast is served and it is most definitely not vegan. Overall we would recommend this hotel and would love to stay at another in another city. read more

Our stay at the Hotel Ovolo Woolloomooloo was a disappointing experience overall. The rooms are new and nice but the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything (and I mean everything) going on in the room next to you. Normal conversations, coughing, their TV, everything was crystal clear in our loft which made it really difficult to go to sleep. It was like they were in our room. We moved rooms and when I went down to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I was greeted by a squishy carpet from a leak in the wall. I notified management and they put a fan in the room and offered to move us but we were tired of dealing with all the nonsense at this point and just checked out early. The customer service here was strange overall in our experience. For example, we ordered food for delivery and it came with garlic which was not on the menu which I have an allergy to. I called downstairs and was told there was nothing they could do. No offer of anything, they just charged us and picked the food back up. This level of customer service was consistent throughout our stay here unfortunately. If you are looking for a "5-star" experience, this isn't it and I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. read more

My husband calls me a "hotel snob" so it's a pretty big deal that I consider this this absolute best hotel I've ever stayed in. This hotel has ruined all other hotels for me. The ambieance is amazing with the most adorable restaurant/lounge in the center of the hotel ( I did my best to sit on all the adorable couches). There are multiple restaurants and a great coffee shop attached to the lobby. I have to say that the staff here act like they genuinely love working here. Everyone is so nice and friendly and trying to help make your stay better in every way. Leti (spelling??) is an absolute doll and that hotel is lucky to have her. What got us here? Hearing about the FREE mini bar ( no liquor. But still.) And free snacks in your room. How amazing! The rooms are adorable and each one is unique. The beds? amazing. All in all, I wish there was one of these in every city and I could never stay anywhere else ever again. read more

This quirky hotel is pretty fantastic. It's just east of CBD and about a 5 minute walk to the Royal Botanical Gardens. You are right next to a small marina and what looks to be a giant parking lot for big military ships, which is pretty neat. The location was a great excuse to walk through the botanical gardens everyday to get to the Syndey Opera house, Circular Quay, the Rocks, etc. If you don't want to walk, you're about a $7-8 USD Uber ride for the Opera house or the Quay. The rooms are nice, with funky design schemes, which is a nice change compared to the plain vanilla brands that you see most of the time. You're also supplied with a mini bar that's "free" (as long as you book directly through them). It consists of a beer, some small bottles of wine, bottles of water, juice, and soda. They refill it everyday when they come to clean your room. They also supplied an electric converter, which is thoughtful of them. Because it was the holidays, I was also gifted with a little mini bag and some holiday treats- always fun to get free stuff. The hotel also offers a free laundry room where you can wash your own clothes if you'd like. They have three washers and three dryers (one set was broken) and they even supply the laundry detergent, which is something you don't see everyday. If you schedule it right, you can toss in some laundry and head to the complimentary happy hour they have everyday while you wait for your clothes to finish washing. There's a small gym and pool nearby- you're supposed to take a lift to get to it, but it was broken when I was there so an employee had to walk me through another way. Not a big deal but probably annoying for staff. They also only posted a sign about the broken lift, at the lift- so you would walk all the way there, realize it's busted, then have to walk all the way back to bother a staff member to take you to the gym (I guess it helps you get your steps in?). The gym is pretty small, but they have a handful of dumbells, treadmills, bikes and an all-in-one cable machine. Only downside of it is that it's right next to the pool and so all you're breathing in is the chlorine from the pool. Not so fun. I made my workouts fast before inhaling too much. There's also a complimentary breakfast offered to hotel guests. Overall, it's pretty good- various pastries, some form of protein, fruit, and cereal. I'm not entirely sure when breakfast starts because one day I showed up around 6:30am (their booklet states it starts at 6:30) and the lady told me it doesn't start until 7. I go back up to my room and check the booklet again- 7 is for holidays, 6:30 for all normal days. It was not a holiday, unless they extend Christmas and Boxing day by another 2 days? So, that was a little weird and I had to miss breakfast because I had to head out. Overall, a pretty good experience. Good value for money, most of the staff is friendly and nice, and great location. read more

Was going to grab a coffee and bite to eat, went to level one, cafe down other end with a row of closed business stalls that does not add any vibe. Looked for a bathroom pre ordering only to be told back near reception on ground. Finally found them and they were in a disgraceful condition, dirty, and the whole bathroom needs a makeover and more regular attention. After seeing that I walked out, thank goodness I've never stayed as I've been tempted in past. read more

After attending the Sydney Opera House to watch West Side Story a couple of friends and I decide to go bar hopping our last night. We stumbled on this place on Instagram and saw all of the cute drinks they made that were instagram-able pictures. So, we took a cab and darted over there after the show. When we arrived the hotel was beautiful, absolutely stunning. We walked over to the bar and were told the closing was actually earlier then posted. Of course we were disappointed it was our last night and we told the bartender and explained the time listed online was incorrect. She saw our puppy dog faces and said she would make us 1 picture worthy drink. I unfortunately do not remember the name but it was made with dry ice and flowers and we were told to let the smoke dissipate before we drank it. I must say she did not disappoint and it was so good I was mad we were only able to get 1 drink. However, I was very satisfied we we able to get a drink. It was a perfect send off. I must say all the drinks in Australia were amazing but this drink had character. The drinks are a must maybe next time I can stay at the hotel. read more
