The gorgeous courtyard boasts (in a non-showy/non-obnoxious way) a beautiful fountain and an inviting pool encased by a splendid tall wall. The stetting is reminiscent (to me) of all thing ancient Rome and goddess like. Our twin room cost $144 a night (during the week) and I reckon it was an absolute bargain. Some, shall we say, interesting art adorned one of the walls....see attached pic to see what I mean. The heavy mustard curtains kept all morning light out and made for a cozy night's sleep. We even had a dimmer in the room, alluring and romantic could be two words I'd use to describe the dimmed night light. Except I was staying there with my sister. But the dimmer was still a fun novelty. They always are. Complimentary muffins made us smile as we trotted out the door towards Sydney adventures and the $15 a pop buffet breakfast was worth every precious penny. I look forward to my next stay at Arts Hotel. I hope it's not too far off....

Rather than going to the trouble of hosting at someone's house, cooking and cleaning, we decided to have our dinner here as they offer a whole roasted pork with sides and everything for $350! We booked far in advance for a Saturday dinner but they only had either the Friday night or Saturday afternoon (boy it's popular!). So we decided to do the Saturday at 12:30, but for some reason they said they couldn't guarantee us a table and we should just come at 12 to try and get a seat. Anyways, we showed up and there was a table reserved for us. We ordered drinks at the bar and the bar staff was somewhat friendly, some were nicer than others. The manager came out and let us know that they'd need about 15-20 minutes to get everything ready. The pork came out and it was yummy. Could have done with more crackling but can't complain. Came with some potatoes, carrots, pumpkin and onions. Overall was pretty good, but it wasn't a huge portion. For $350, roughly 30 bucks a person, you'd expect to be stuffed. I think everyone was satisfied but maybe left a bit hungry? Overall, a cool pub with good drinks. I really like the Pink Lady Apple Cider.

This is one of those pubs that I have been meaning to visit for quite a while, but never quite got…read morearound to doing so. Well, on my last visit to Sydney I finally managed to do so, and I have to admit that I was impressed - very impressed. Okay, when I was there they didn't have any live music, which was a bit of a shame, but it didn't undermine the awesomeness of the place. This is basically a grunge pub, and if you know me, I love my grunge pubs. Oh, and they had a pretty decent selection of beers on tap as well.

It's a shit place to sleep granted, because it's right on the corner of a hectic intersection. I don't know why we stayed here, probabaly because it is close to COFA where I went to uni, but there was a Green day concert on at the Hordern so it was entertaining people watching none the less. Aside from my 90s nostalgia, this pub is a Cricket and more mainly an AFL pub. When the Ashes are on, it's on. I was here at 8:30 am for breakfast beers and a $7 Bacon and egg roll. The roll was naff, and $7 but what are you going to do at that time of day when you're having beers, for breakfast? Something needs to line the stomach. We were not alone. It was as if it was a Friday night, and full to the brim with pink shirted Cricket fans who were also going to the 3rd day of the Ashes test. Side note: If you arent a Swannies supporter then get out, forever. It still seems to cater mainly for backpackers. The interior was covered with old band posters such as the Annandale used to have. They have Coopers on tap. Win. They clearly cater for events like the Ashes and open early. Win. They seem to still have a stage, which I imagine supports live music. Double win. Good for a stop over on your way to some sports or a gig at the Entertainment Quarter.

True you can drink the soup, but it is not refreshing, nor does it quench ones thirst. So in order to rectify this drink free zone, a small shop, situated almost all alone in the north west corner of the centre lies. (This is a rough approximation, I rarely go to food courts with a compass.) This drink shop sells everything from water to fruit juices, bottle drinks, soda pop on tap and even alcohol; spirits, beer and cider. So often I have bought some spicy foods only to feel the need to coat my tongue in that liquid elixir known as water. That sweet soothing, scientifically labeled H2O. One of the only places to get a drink in the Sussex Centre. Definitely the only licensed place.

Fairly standard - pies, steaks, burgers, but done well and generously proportioned. The Olympic Hotel is a fun spot where everyone's welcome, everyone's friendly and there is absolutely no pretense - an increasing rarity in Sydney nightlife.

From the moment we checked in, we were greeted by friendly faces and made us feel welcomed. And after a 10 hour flight and having to wait for our car service it was greatly appreciated. They offered to take our bags to our room which was nice too. The hotel is stunning as from the front it looked small as the elevators to the rooms is right there to the right when you enter but when you turn to the left where check in is, it opens up to grandeur. It felt like we were in a movie. Maybe because I watched Crazy Rich Asians on the plane. Haha but it is really nice and open. There was also a restaurant that we didn't have a chance to eat at but maybe when we come back from Melbourne. After we checked in and went to our room, the bellman was telling us things about the hotel. I swear he looks like the guy on the hotel page on the TV. In fact I'm sure of it. He is a wealth of knowledge and very friendly. They have a rooftop bar that has a nice view of the city. The pool is more like. Lap pool type which is fine by us. You can grab towels over there as well. So grab a drink, watch the sunset and soak it all in. The rooms are big. The air-conditioning works really well. There is no drips or slow draining water. We had a walk in shower and it was big. So big you could throw a small party in it. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and we didn't hear any street noise at all either. Only downer but might have been good is that our windows were frosted so we couldn't see out. But hey who cares as people can't see in either. You know how most hotels use the cheapest soaps, shampoo and conditioners? I know you do. This hotel has and I can't believe I'm writing about it but they use really good stuff here. The soap doesn't dry your hands out and the shampoo and conditioner is awesome. They even have slippers and bathrobes. There is a mini fridge and safe which we used. The hotel is a short 8-10 minute walk to Central Rail Station. Very nice and convenient place, easily 5 stars.

I'd walked past the entrance prior to checking in but didn't pay it any notice as it is hidden under construction awning. However, do not judge a book by its cover, because the lobby and foyer is gorgeous and expansive. I also didn't realize how popular the rooftop bar of this hotel (Level 7) was! I wish I had known sooner, because I would have definitely spent more time checking out the hotel amenities rather than napping in my room. My room was decent sized. The person who checked me in claimed that they had upgraded me to a larger room..not sure how much smaller the rooms could get to be honest. There was a fancy nespresso machine in the room along with the usual amenities, and some pretty nice toiletries. My only gripe was that my toilet was literally pulling the wall down with it - I'm pretty sure a heavier person will take it down with them one day.. The gym is tiny and in the basement, but there is a fridge full of water bottles for patrons.
