I'm so glad we did! The boat was equipped with everything we needed - had a bathroom, mini fridge for your lunch, they provided a cooler with plenty of water for the day which was very nice. We had fun catching a variety of fish, including mahi mahi, Bonita, one little tuna and the biggie: a white marlin, which was an unexpected surprise for us all and the highlight of our outing. Jesse worked tirelessly the entire time and it was an overall fantastic day. Once we returned back to the dock, he filleted our mahi for us and we took it over to Kaya Island eats per his recommendation which was the perfect end to a fun, tiring but successful day on the water. If you want a great day with nice, knowledgeable folks who will work hard to make your day memorable, I highly recommend booking with Linda D. UPDATE: Went out again on Wednesday and had an equally fantastic time w/captain Billy & Jesse. He got us on a school of Lady fish immediately and we all caught some. My husband caught an amberjack early too. We almost had a big barracuda but it ate some of our bait and then jumped high out of the water to give us a little show! My youngest really wanted to catch a shark so Captain Justin took us to a great spot and started throwing out bait trying to get some sharks in. We had so many! Several lemon sharks and nurse sharks and 1 bull shark. We reeled in 2 lemon sharks and 1 nurse shark. Captain Justin was so great helping us reel them in and cheering us on! Wow, were we lucky to find Finz when our charter to the Dry Tortugas canceled 5 days before our…read morescheduled excursion! Luckily, Finz had availability - and gratefully, we had Captain Rob and Holly to steer us there! His communication was EXCELLENT with texts in advance to keep me informed and prepared. We took their 37' Park Shark, which comfortably sat us in a cabin with plentiful views. The ride was a bit rougher than a catamaran, but it took us from Key West to the Dry Tortugas where Holly acted as our private tour guide, sharing insights about its history while we enjoyed the migrating birds. Afterwards, we zipped into wet suits that they provided to snorkel around a sunken ship. I'd recommend bringing your own lunch, especially if you have a vegetarian or pescatarian diet, but they kindly provide plenty of snacks and ice water. The crew was professional, friendly and attentive. We arrived at Fort Jefferson before the ferry, and enjoyed a private tour without the crowds. We visited two separate dive/snorkel sites (cool wrecks!) and lunch on the beach. Not cheap, but definitely the best way to visit the island from Key West, short of buying your own boat. ** Amazing Day with Salty Goat Deep Sea Fishing Charter**…read more On Sunday, March 1, our group had the absolute best experience with **Salty Goat Deep Sea Fishing Charter**. There were six people in our party plus two additional guests, and from start to finish the trip was incredible. Our captain, Ashley, and first mate, Paul, were fantastic. The entire five-hour trip was fun, relaxing, and full of great moments. On the way out to our private fishing spot--where there were *plenty* of fish--we saw so much wildlife including turtles, dolphins, jellyfish, and pelicans. It was an amazing way to start the trip. Once we reached the fishing spot, Ashley and Paul were incredibly helpful and patient, guiding us through the process and sharing their knowledge about the different fish we caught. Thanks to them, we ended up with a cooler full of fish! They were also very patient with me as I kept getting my line tangled and "making a nest" with my reel--LOL. The whole atmosphere on the boat was perfect. We had great music playing, lots of laughs, and really fun conversations. Ashley and Paul are clearly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoy what they do, which made the trip even better. One of the most memorable moments came on the way back when we noticed a young pelican struggling in the water. Ashley and Paul carefully rescued it, brought it onto the boat, and contacted Fish and Wildlife so the bird could be picked up safely when we returned to the dock. It was amazing to see how much they care about the wildlife around them. To top off an already incredible day, when we got back to the dock Ashley and Paul cleaned and filleted all of our fish and packaged it up for us. We brought it to a local restaurant that prepared one of the best meals we've ever had. This charter is the **real deal**--a knowledgeable, fun, and laid-back crew who clearly love the ocean and sharing the experience with others. Capt Mike was recommended to us by the Westin concierge (Becki, who by the way is extremely helpful!). We were looking for a half day private boat charter for my wife and I and our 3 children (11, 8 & 3). The most important thing to us was flexibility. We wanted fishing, a private island visit and dolphin watching, but we also knew our kids would lose interest in any one activity after about 45 minutes. I'm happy to say that Capt Mike delivered all three, and then some. We met at the Westin Harbor. We first started dolphin watching... within 15 minutes, he had about 6 to 8 dolphins all around us, jumping and playing all around the boat. After 30 minutes of this, the kids started getting bored and were ready to move on. So we left for a private island excursion. On the way, he showed the kids seaweed with crabs and shrimp (they thought it was so cool to see up close), a shipwreck and wild stingrays. We then arrived at the private island and had a 45 minute walk where the kids found cool shells, pieces of coral and hermit crabs. Our next stop was to head back towards key west for a 1 hour fishing stop. During the stop, each of the three kids all caught fish and felt special for having done so. Finally, we took a 15 minute pause to watch the sunset from the boat for a full Key West experience. Capt Mike was GREAT with kids. They absolutely loved his personality, his kids-friendly jokes and the experiences. My 11-year old kept saying "This is so awesome!!" every 30 minutes or so. Our 'captain' and 'guide', Bethany, was really good at handling the boat, and all that went with it (including us)!! Maximum number of guests is six, today we were four, we all got along well. The kayaking around the little mangrove island was easy despite the moderate wind. Those easily frightened need not be. Bethany imparted a lot of interesting mangrove facts as we went as well as pointing out the different birds that occupy the island. Not really an island as it's all mangroves and no sand, dirt or rock to stand on. Snorkeling that day wasn't great. It had recently rained and the water was a bit murky but we did see a variety of sponges and a few fish. The sail back to port was relaxing, snacks were put out, pineapple and those chunky pretzel things, and for a bit, all was right in the world.
