An update, after completion, as promised! WE ARE SO HAPPY WITH EVERYTHING! Sol ended up also doing our landscaping and drip irrigation. He got me great deals on beautiful trees and plants and had everything finished and looking wonderful in time for our annual Labor Day weekend party. The pool and spa are great. We have been using them a lot with this ridiculous hot fall weather and the bike path gets used by my daughter and her friends every day. My dogs even love it and run around it like a racetrack. LOL! I couldn't be happier with Outdoors and Beyond. Customer service has been awesome, design and execution was great, the admin in the office was prompt and professional when I had billing questions. I had a few small issues with some of the workers but nothing out of the ordinary, nothing major that wasn't corrected right away after talking to Sol. He always was quick in dealing with any concerns. I'm so glad I went with Sol and I'm sure I'll do business with him again, in the future! read more

We were really concern and very hesitant at first. We went through maybe 8-10 proposals from other pool companies including family member who owns a pool construction company. When we met Sol, owner of outdoors and beyond, my wife and I had a good feeling that outdoor and beyond was going to be the company to build our pool. Sol, was very honest and his price was great. Sol promised us that the pool would be built in six weeks or he would pays us $100 a day for everyday he passes from due date. Sol, also told me that we don't pay for any work he does not do that week. Sol, kept his promise and it was a very pleasant experience to deal with a true professional. As a retired cop, I had my guard up but Sol and his team really came through and delivered a beautiful pool and built in BBQ. We have our dream back yard!! Well done Sol!! read more

Sol was a pleasure to work with. We had Outdoors and Beyond do quite a bit in our backyard: they put in artificial turf, stamped concrete, a firepit, a bbq, landscaping, and some ambiance lighting. The work was done with great quality and within the original time frame they had given us. Sol and his team are very professional and courteous. Sol definitely cares about his reputation and that is important when it comes to working with contractors. His desire to have a satisfied customer permeates into everything: schedule, workmanship, and pricing. We would definitely use Outdoors and Beyond again! read more

My family and I were very impressed with Outdoors & Beyond. I've dealt with a lot of contractors throughout my time and quite frankly, Sol and his team executed flawlessly. From the first time Sol and I met, he was very forthcoming as to what I should expect from our pool project. He was very clear on costs, timeframe and each phase of the project. Once we signed with Sol, a few days later we received the 3D mock-up of how our pool would look. A few days later, we broke ground 5/1/14 and completed the project and started filling water in our pool by 5/30/14. Each week, Sol would inform me as to what to expect for that given week. He would explain which team (demo, plumbing/electrical, gunite, hardscapers, plaster etc.) would be onsite, what they will be doing and the timeframe for that specific phase. I appreciated the communication as it kept my family and I well informed and we literally saw our backyard transform each and every week. I couldn't ask for anything else as Outdoors & Beyond certainly delivered on their promise and exceeded my expectations. Our family will enjoy our pool for years to come and thank you again to Sol and his team, great job guys! read more

As I do every year, I have recently called Outdoors and Beyond to Power wash and seal the concrete and conduct other maintenance tasks in my backyard, which they have constructed for me several years ago. As always, they have done a great job. Sol always makes sure that he addresses all my concerns and that I am fully satisfied with his service. With great appreciation for the service and support from Outdoors and Beyond, I decided to write a review once again and let everyone know how great this company really is, and how they go out of their way to provide supports to its clients for years. This year I decided to post a review once again (my first review was written following the original installation). I was shocked to read a recent negative review, which was posted on this platform. It is totally inconsistent with not only my view of Outdoors and Beyond, but also with all the other posts ever written about this company. When the Homeowner, who has written the negative review, suggested that Outdoors and Beyond may have closed its doors, it became clear to me that the review was disingenuous and may be loaded with personal motives. I do not care to be a judge on this matter, but posting non factual information on this platform does disservice to all of us who are benefiting from this review board. What ever the case maybe, Outdoors and Beyond never shuts its doors. Sol is always there, caring, trustworthy professional who shows his appreciation for the opportunity to serve you. Sol deserves better that that. read more

From the moment of inception to the very final details at the end, Outdoors and Beyond delivered and went beyond the imaginable. Sol's designing and creative talents exceeded what I could have hoped for. Everything is perfect, the pool, the spa, landscape, stone work, concrete, lights, music and so much more. I cannot stop looking outside to my backyard and be so happy I met everyone at Outdoors and Beyond. A team of true professionals that not only are talented, but love their work. They take care of everything. I would recommend them for any and all outdoor projects, no matter how big or small. It's the first time in 20 years I hired a contractor and actually miss them after they are gone. I know, unheard of but it's very true. Thank you to the entire staff at Outdoors and Beyond for making our dream pool come true. read more

I have had the experience to work with many contractors in the different homes I have owned and remolded. I have NEVER had this kind of experience. For the first time I had a contractor promise something and actually do it ahead of time. Sol and Scott were honest, straight forward, and trustworthy... they are truly the definition of "professional". We did a major makeover of your back yard with a brand new infinity pool, BBQ pit with kitchen, large kids play ground including a go-cart track... lots of money at risk and lots that could go wrong and the job went as smooth as I could imagine. Sol never asked for payment before the job was done and gave me little time to pay the invoicesGreat Job guys and I will never work with anyone else.... read more

I called the first time around 11/7/14 and again on 11/14/14. After waiting another week for a callback I gave up. I didn't mention that I found their name on Angie's List so that might have gotten a response. But, then again, I don't want someone just motivated by possible repercussions from a bad review. This project will be large and expensive. Glad I can weed out at least one choice. read more

After 25 years of living in San Francisco, my husband and I relocated to Southern California. I immediately knew I wanted a beautiful backyard and a pool - that is what Southern California living is all about! I love swimming for exercise, escape from the heat and a place to entertain friends (especially those caught in the fog up north!) When I began researching the best pool designers and contractors, Sol Navanna and Outdoors and Beyond popped to the front of the list. All reviews talked about quality work, solid pricing and beautiful design. This is all true, but let me go a bit further. Installing a pool is a serious investment of time and money. Sol and his team (and family) did a several critical things well: 1) reviewed and modified the design (at no additional cost) with me until I was happy, including supporting me when I actually asked the stakes to be moved a half foot to line up with my house lines; 2) carefully took us through engineering, demolition, pump and heating systems, salt versus chlorine, garden and landscape design, fencing, security, permits, pool start-up and transition to daily use. I never questioned the professionalism; 3) remained responsive - calls and texts were always answered quickly - including a question a month post-project when our Project Manager, Scott, came out personally to attend to the issue. We spent $85,000+ for a gorgeous salt water heated pool, built in 8ft spa with waterfall, stamped concrete and brick patio entertaining areas, new fencing, lawn, flower and vegetable gardens. Start to finish it took 3+ months despite the rains. It is stunning! I highly recommend Outdoors and Beyond to create your oasis. read more

I was nervous about redoing our backyard. I had heard plenty of contractor horror stories. When I saw the reviews of this place I felt comfortable giving them a shot. I'm glad I did. Sol was everything I'd hoped for. He was honest about price and helpful in figuring out ways to make things more affordable (what I could save on and still have a lovely backyard). He was easy to reach and never made me feel like my questions were dumb or that I was wasting his time with my indecision about what tile to use etc. The work is top quality and he made sure every last detail I asked for was completed. The work was done BEFORE our estimate. And I just plain liked him. Sol's crew were also fantastic. Clean, courteous and hard working. They went above and beyond their job to make sure my family was comfortable thought the entire process. When we decide to add the hot tub I know who I am going to call ;) read more

We had an amazing, positive experience working with Sol at Outdoors & Beyond for our total backyard make-over with pool, spa, fire-pit, patio, BBQ and landscaping. Sol has a great eye for design and his decisions have paid off in a gorgeous end product that have received many rave reviews. Sol's crews were always on time and really knew what they were doing and would clean up at the end of the day. Sol made us feel that we were his #1 client even though he was very busy with other clients. He was available to answer questions and guide us through some of the more difficult decisions. Sol provided us with a detailed cost breakdown upfront that was pretty close to accurate. He was also very responsive and honest about costs for changes we wanted to make. I can't say enough positive things about the quality of the materials and workmanship that went into this job. Even after the job was complete, Sol was there for us when we had some questions and needed some support for the pool equipment. If you want a great looking pool and backyard, an entertainer's dream or a stay-cation paradise, look no further than Sol and Outdoors & Beyond. They have my trust and I would absolutely work with them again. read more

Outdoors and Beyond is amazing. They completely redid our pool (shape, size, depth, pebbletec, coping, plumbing, gas, heater, salt water system, etc.) and put in a gorgeous bench with 3 waterfalls. Remodeled our entire barbecue/bar area (tile, counter, bbq, sink, etc.). Took out a large concrete area and put in astroturf. Put in beautiful planters. Redid landscape in front of house - retaining wall, grass, plants, flowers. Sol has an amazing eye for design and turned our home into our dream house. He also always kept in mind our children's safety. Everything was done efficiently and on schedule. Sol was always available to answer any questions and address concerns. We are absolutely thrilled with the end result and would do it again in a second. We have only good things to say. One thing we learned, and it's true of anyone you work with, when making a change or addition in the middle of a job or when approving a verbal suggestion, ask how much money it will cost first. Always make sure the budget and new expenses are very clearly stated. read more

Highest of praises. From the start of the process, Sol (the owner) was interested only in doing the work that was required and that fit with the design we wanted. There were no hard sales tactics or needless upselling. The job began with Sol preparing the plans and design for a complete pool renovation and spa addition. He not only got the specs, plans, engineering, and permits, but he also prepared the 3-D rendering so we could review and approve before getting into those details. With those plans, we were able to bid out the job to competitors. Sol gave no grief. To the contrary, he encouraged it. Ultimately, we picked Sol's bid for the job. We felt the price was fair, and you do get what you pay for. The work was top quality craftsmanship. Pictures say a thousand words, so look for yourself at the before and after (granted, these after pictures are washed out from the sun and were taken only with a phone camera). You cannot tell that the spa was never there before Sol's work. His crew is professional, and responsive. They work clean as well, keeping the construction debris actually within the reasonable boundaries of the construction area throughout the project. They quickly resolved the short punch list, without any grief, and then even power washed the driveway when it was over just to make sure we were happy with how clean everything was when the job was over. Sol also was available to answer questions at any time, and he'll answer his cell or call you back. Very professional. I would hire again, except the high quality work he did for me is going to last a very long time and he'll probably retire before I have to renovate the pool again! Description of work: Spa addition to existing pool and complete pool renovation, including new pool baja reef, pebbletec, plumbing, electrical, and equipment. read more

My husband found positive reviews for Outdoors and Beyond and met with the owner, Sol who was personable and knowledgeable during the introductory meeting. We hired Sol to resurface and tile our backyard pool and resurface the deck with stamped concrete. Unfortunately, the job did not go well. Sol kept adding more and more to the cost of the job and made several mistakes due to lack of planning and poor attention to detail. We were very clear that our spa jets should be measured carefully to hit the back in the right places. The spa jets were not measured carefully and hit the body in the anus, not the back. We asked that the deck lights be measured and symmetrical around the pool. The deck lights are not symmetrical and thus do not illuminate the pots we had in our plan. The spa handle was not ordered and installed as requested. We ended up having to hire someone to install a spa handle ourselves. We also have to hire someone to fix the tile and grout. We were told that our stamped concrete was sealed but it turns out the concrete was not sealed as Sol promised and it has water stains that require additional costs and repairs. Some of the tile has no grout left around it and the pool is only a year old. We wish we would have used a more reliable company. We are calling references in advance of work for the new company that we have to hire to fix Sol's mistakes. read more

Last year starting on April 15th, Sol and his team started the landscape, hard scape and pool remodel for my husband and I. There are no words to describe his artistry and professionalism, but that's not why I'm writing today, 13 months after the fact. The reason I am writing is because many contractors, once the job is done walk out of your life and if you have an issue at a later date and you call, they don't even remember your name. Through no fault of Sol's, the bulbs in my back yard lighting that he designed and installed, started to burn out. After weeks of trying to figure out what the problem was, and $250 later in bulbs, I decided to call Sol. He immediately said, don't worry, I will take care of it. Come to find out ( thanks to Sol), there was a small cut in the wire that was not allowing the lights to function properly. He came early this morning with his crew and within an hour it was fixed ! At no charge AND he even added an extra light that we were going to buy, but he just gave it to us as a gift. In today's world, that is unheard of. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sol, his abilities and work ethic-- a true gem. Thank you Sol for all you do-- you are like family to us. read more

Although I did my due diligence and made sure to pick a good contractor, I was still very nervous. You know, the horror stories everyone tells you. Then you started the work and shortly after that you removed some of the work your guys did saying "it was not good enough". Although it looked fine to me, I knew I had picked a good contractor that his concerns went beyond money. Your dedications, creativity and business manners have made this job what it is today. I feel compelled to write and let you know that if you are looking for a good company, this is the one for you. Thank you so much for making my dream come true. I will always be happy to talk to your potential client's and let them know how great you are. Mike C. - Sherman Oaks. read more

very pricey. I had more than one conversation about the workers leaving beer cans and sangria bottles in the yard. My hose disappeared and when I asked the foreman why it was in the back of his truck he denied taking it. The workmanship has been disappointing Cracks in the cement, rust coming through and we have had to replace numerous elbow joints that cracked under the deck, the water bill because the pool was leaking and the auto fill just kept flowing. I have photos but this vendor has blocked that option to post. read more

This company exceeded expectations on every level...service, communication, meeting deadlines and quality of work. Highly recommended.

So two more pieces of equipment have broken down that they installed. Completely unable to reach Sol assume that his company is closed for business now since he won't return calls or emails. I am out nearly another grand in repairs to the newest breakdowns. read more

Great Sales pitch, not much of craftsmanship. So it has been 3 years and 5 months since I had Outdoors and Beyond build pool and concrete decking around it at cost of close to $70,000 and it looked great, now that we have had some rain and project has aged things are happening, there is settling on one side deck, stones around the spa falling in to pool, tiles cracking, plaster patchy and areas of decking has these pop outs like someone has been hitting it with sledge hammer, I called on Shlomo Navama "Sol" owner of Outdoors & Beyond to have a look and may be can figure out a solution, it turns out there is nothing can be done since the concrete they have used has this material that is reacting to soil and popping out (I have 10 year old concrete in my back yard with same soil and no such issue), only solution would be to dig it out and redo the decking, and on settling on one side same issue the grounds have not been prepared properly so deck is separating from coping, again no solution but tear it out and start over again. I must say out the 3 different contractors I interviewed he sounded the most knowledgeable one, I turns out Sol is a great salesman but not much of craftsman, estimated cost of repair close to $18,000 and his response was we only give a year warranty on concrete, my suggestion to people trying to do business with him and his company ask for 5 years guarantee and hop he will be around to honor it, because no one should spend thousands for pool which has 10 year warranty on equipment but foundation and concrete work is not going to last as long. read more

I read the other reviews on here and I couldn't agree more! Hiring a contractor is a really tough decision and you are at their mercy with your money and your time! Hire Sol and Outdoors and Beyond and you will be relieved and have none of the stress you anticipated! They did a HUGE scope of work. He got the permits and permission needed from my Homeowners Assoc- not easy! They rebuilt my pool (Its gorgeous with fountains and a Baja reef!) We added an outdoor kitchen, a massive fireplace with a TV above it, a fire pit, several fountains, all new landscaping, walking paths and gardens, a new driveway and walkway and added new decorative pilasters and stone to the front of my house. Its gorgeous, its on budget, and on time. No shortcuts, all permitted and inspection passed and quality work, quality subs. Excellence on every level. Sol is one of the loveliest, most honest, and dedicated people I've ever had the pleasure to work with. I would give 10 stars! AND he also does INTERIORS! So Im hiring him AGAIN to do the inside of my house and my husband is hiring him to build out his office space. Cant say much more than that--- except he will be forever on our holiday card list too! Sol is like family. A True gem! read more

I've been meaning to write this review since my pool was finished in February but we've been having so much fun with it, I haven't found the time. I got a couple quotes and Sol's wasn't the lowest. But when I looked at his previous work and met him, I just knew he was the one that I wanted to work with. He has a great aesthetic. And he is really straight forward and honest. The construction went well and my pool is gorgeous. Sol was really good with all the handholding that such a big investment requires. But where he really impressed was helping me with problem solving...He outlined all the possible solutions and didn't rest until the problem was solved. Even after the last payment was cashed he calls me back immediately and answers any questions I have with lots of patience. I've done my bathroom, kitchen and roof in the last few years and Sol is my very favorite contractor ever. This is the guy you want to hire. read more

Sol and his team at Outdoors and Beyond did a fantastic job designing and constructing our pool! We bought our house in 2015 and did a huge renovation to the house and knew we wanted to put in a pool on our hillside lot. From the moment we met Sol to consult on what our parameters were with pool details and choices we felt like we were at the very top of his to-do list. Even though he had many projects going at the same time, he was always promptly responsive to questions as well as to adjusting design logistics according to bumps in the plan as we maneuvered Pasadena permitting policies and engineering issues. Fair, accurate in assessments/projections of scope of work and cost, fast and on top of permitting and inspections, and very informative regarding design and accessory choices, Outdoors and Beyond went above and beyond our expectations. Our house renovation was very stressful and complicated and Sol came in to do the pool construction and design in the least stressful and most take-charge way with his expertise. He made us feel taken care of like we were family (and some of his family we got to know because he runs a family business). Even now that we've had the pool in for 3.5 months, Outdoors and Beyond continues to be responsive to my pool-related questions (which have been many since we've never had a pool before). I highly recommend Outdoors and Beyond! read more

My Husband and I are so delighted and very impressed with Sol and "Outdoors and Beyond". Our Backyard is now a Beautiful Paradise with our new Salt Pool, Gas Fire pit, New Stamped Concrete Patio and Beautiful New Fencing and Gates. Sol is in our minds without a doubt, the most knowledgeable and Creative Contractor ever. In the beginning we were nervous about starting such a big job for us, but after meeting with Sol, our nervousness turned into excitement. The first day meeting with him, it was as though we had known him forever. Sol is so down to earth and genuinely cares about you and your visions for your home. Next, after the survey, virtual tour and Design they began to transform our disaster of a yard. Our Yard was in need of some serious Demolition. Not only that, but our yard was not an easy feat. Due to the narrow access to the back, Two large Outbuildings, some delicate fruit trees, difficult soil and a lot of old cement to be demolished and removed.Every bit of the job was handled by such diligent and courteous great workers. Every step of the way. Soon the Beautiful Transformation Began. The detailed craftsmanship on each project is incredible. My husband and I watched in Awe as These mastered workers performed their creations. Even the Gas Fire Pit is a true work of art. The time schedules were also done right on time and even completed way sooner than proposed. Sol is so punctual, you can set your watch by him. He always kept in touch with us, to keep us informed of the job schedules and what to expect. I could contact him day or night, and Sol was there to answer any questions or concerns. This Project has been so delightful. Our yard now is our own personal paradise, My husband and I have swam everyday since and had our family and friends for pool parties and get together's. We are so happy with Everything. Our next Home projects, we will Definitely Have Sol, and his expert workers perform the Jobs. Thank you Sol and your gracious staff for everything. read more

Sol, the owner of Outdoors and Beyond was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. I just purchased my first house this past February and I wanted to put in a swimming pool. I had never embarked on a construction project before and being brand new to home ownership and construction, I wanted to find someone to work with who I felt like I could trust. After contacting a few different companies, it became clear to me that Sol was the man for the job. He was very attentive to my project and took his time in answering all of my questions and walking me through every step of the project. The work was done in a timely manner and I was delighted with the finished product. My pool has been done for a few months now and there have been no problems at all. In fact, I'm getting ready to contact Sol soon for my next home-improvement project! Without a doubt, I would highly recommend Outdoors and Beyond! read more
