An update, after completion, as promised! WE ARE SO HAPPY WITH EVERYTHING! Sol ended up also doing our landscaping and drip irrigation. He got me great deals on beautiful trees and plants and had everything finished and looking wonderful in time for our annual Labor Day weekend party. The pool and spa are great. We have been using them a lot with this ridiculous hot fall weather and the bike path gets used by my daughter and her friends every day. My dogs even love it and run around it like a racetrack. LOL! I couldn't be happier with Outdoors and Beyond. Customer service has been awesome, design and execution was great, the admin in the office was prompt and professional when I had billing questions. I had a few small issues with some of the workers but nothing out of the ordinary, nothing major that wasn't corrected right away after talking to Sol. We were really concern and very hesitant at first. We went through maybe 8-10 proposals from other pool companies including family member who owns a pool construction company. When we met Sol, owner of outdoors and beyond, my wife and I had a good feeling that outdoor and beyond was going to be the company to build our pool. Sol, was very honest and his price was great. Sol promised us that the pool would be built in six weeks or he would pays us $100 a day for everyday he passes from due date. My family and I were very impressed with Outdoors & Beyond. I've dealt with a lot of contractors throughout my time and quite frankly, Sol and his team executed flawlessly. From the first time Sol and I met, he was very forthcoming as to what I should expect from our pool project. He was very clear on costs, timeframe and each phase of the project. Once we signed with Sol, a few days later we received the 3D mock-up of how our pool would look. A few days later, we broke ground 5/1/14 and completed the project and started filling water in our pool by 5/30/14. Each week, Sol would inform me as to what to expect for that given week. He would explain which team (demo, plumbing/electrical, gunite, hardscapers, plaster etc.) would be onsite, what they will be doing and the timeframe for that specific phase. I appreciated the communication as it kept my family and I well informed and we literally saw our backyard transform each and every week. As I do every year, I have recently called Outdoors and Beyond to Power wash and seal the concrete and conduct other maintenance tasks in my backyard, which they have constructed for me several years ago. As always, they have done a great job. Sol always makes sure that he addresses all my concerns and that I am fully satisfied with his service. With great appreciation for the service and support from Outdoors and Beyond, I decided to write a review once again and let everyone know how great this company really is, and how they go out of their way to provide supports to its clients for years. This year I decided to post a review once again (my first review was written following the original installation). I was shocked to read a recent negative review, which was posted on this platform. It is totally inconsistent with not only my view of Outdoors and Beyond, but also with all the other posts ever written about this company. When the Homeowner, who has written the negative review, suggested that Outdoors and Beyond may have closed its doors, it became clear to me that the review was disingenuous and may be loaded with personal motives. I do not care to be a judge on this matter, but posting non factual information on this platform does disservice to all of us who are benefiting from this review board. For the first time I had a contractor promise something and actually do it ahead of time. After 25 years of living in San Francisco, my husband and I relocated to Southern California. I immediately knew I wanted a beautiful backyard and a pool - that is what Southern California living is all about! I love swimming for exercise, escape from the heat and a place to entertain friends (especially those caught in the fog up north!) When I began researching the best pool designers and contractors, Sol Navanna and Outdoors and Beyond popped to the front of the list. All reviews talked about quality work, solid pricing and beautiful design. This is all true, but let me go a bit further. Installing a pool is a serious investment of time and money. Sol and his team (and family) did a several critical things well: 1) reviewed and modified the design (at no additional cost) with me until I was happy, including supporting me when I actually asked the stakes to be moved a half foot to line up with my house lines; 2) carefully took us through engineering, demolition, pump and heating systems, salt versus chlorine, garden and landscape design, fencing, security, permits, pool start-up and transition to daily use. I never questioned the professionalism; 3) remained responsive - calls and texts were always answered quickly - including a question a month post-project when our Project Manager, Scott, came out personally to attend to the issue. We spent $85,000+ for a gorgeous salt water heated pool, built in 8ft spa with waterfall, stamped concrete and brick patio entertaining areas, new fencing, lawn, flower and vegetable gardens. We had an amazing, positive experience working with Sol at Outdoors & Beyond for our total backyard make-over with pool, spa, fire-pit, patio, BBQ and landscaping. Sol has a great eye for design and his decisions have paid off in a gorgeous end product that have received many rave reviews. I was nervous about redoing our backyard. I had heard plenty of contractor horror stories. When I saw the reviews of this place I felt comfortable giving them a shot. I'm glad I did. Sol was everything I'd hoped for. He was honest about price and helpful in figuring out ways to make things more affordable (what I could save on and still have a lovely backyard). He was easy to reach and never made me feel like my questions were dumb or that I was wasting his time with my indecision about what tile to use etc. The work is top quality and he made sure every last detail I asked for was completed. Highest of praises. From the start of the process, Sol (the owner) was interested only in doing the work that was required and that fit with the design we wanted. There were no hard sales tactics or needless upselling. The job began with Sol preparing the plans and design for a complete pool renovation and spa addition. He not only got the specs, plans, engineering, and permits, but he also prepared the 3-D rendering so we could review and approve before getting into those details. With those plans, we were able to bid out the job to competitors. Sol gave no grief. To the contrary, he encouraged it. Ultimately, we picked Sol's bid for the job. We felt the price was fair, and you do get what you pay for. The work was top quality craftsmanship. Pictures say a thousand words, so look for yourself at the before and after (granted, these after pictures are washed out from the sun and were taken only with a phone camera). You cannot tell that the spa was never there before Sol's work. His crew is professional, and responsive. They work clean as well, keeping the construction debris actually within the reasonable boundaries of the construction area throughout the project. They quickly resolved the short punch list, without any grief, and then even power washed the driveway when it was over just to make sure we were happy with how clean everything was when the job was over. Sol also was available to answer questions at any time, and he'll answer his cell or call you back. Very professional. I would hire again, except the high quality work he did for me is going to last a very long time and he'll probably retire before I have to renovate the pool again! My husband found positive reviews for Outdoors and Beyond and met with the owner, Sol who was personable and knowledgeable during the introductory meeting. We hired Sol to resurface and tile our backyard pool and resurface the deck with stamped concrete. Unfortunately, the job did not go well. Sol kept adding more and more to the cost of the job and made several mistakes due to lack of planning and poor attention to detail. We were very clear that our spa jets should be measured carefully to hit the back in the right places. The spa jets were not measured carefully and hit the body in the anus, not the back. We asked that the deck lights be measured and symmetrical around the pool. The deck lights are not symmetrical and thus do not illuminate the pots we had in our plan. The spa handle was not ordered and installed as requested. We ended up having to hire someone to install a spa handle ourselves. We also have to hire someone to fix the tile and grout. We were told that our stamped concrete was sealed but it turns out the concrete was not sealed as Sol promised and it has water stains that require additional costs and repairs. Some of the tile has no grout left around it and the pool is only a year old. We wish we would have used a more reliable company. We are calling references in advance of work for the new company that we have to hire to fix Sol's mistakes. read more

Outdoors and Beyond is amazing. They completely redid our pool (shape, size, depth, pebbletec, coping, plumbing, gas, heater, salt water system, etc.) and put in a gorgeous bench with 3 waterfalls. Remodeled our entire barbecue/bar area (tile, counter, bbq, sink, etc.). Took out a large concrete area and put in astroturf. Put in beautiful planters. Redid landscape in front of house - retaining wall, grass, plants, flowers. Sol has an amazing eye for design and turned our home into our dream house. He also always kept in mind our children's safety. Everything was done efficiently and on schedule. Sol was always available to answer any questions and address concerns. We are absolutely thrilled with the end result and would do it again in a second. We have only good things to say. One thing we learned, and it's true of anyone you work with, when making a change or addition in the middle of a job or when approving a verbal suggestion, ask how much money it will cost first. Last year starting on April 15th, Sol and his team started the landscape, hard scape and pool remodel for my husband and I. There are no words to describe his artistry and professionalism, but that's not why I'm writing today, 13 months after the fact. The reason I am writing is because many contractors, once the job is done walk out of your life and if you have an issue at a later date and you call, they don't even remember your name. Through no fault of Sol's, the bulbs in my back yard lighting that he designed and installed, started to burn out. After weeks of trying to figure out what the problem was, and $250 later in bulbs, I decided to call Sol. He immediately said, don't worry, I will take care of it. Come to find out ( thanks to Sol), there was a small cut in the wire that was not allowing the lights to function properly. He came early this morning with his crew and within an hour it was fixed ! At no charge AND he even added an extra light that we were going to buy, but he just gave it to us as a gift. In today's world, that is unheard of. very pricey. I had more than one conversation about the workers leaving beer cans and sangria bottles in the yard. My hose disappeared and when I asked the foreman why it was in the back of his truck he denied taking it. The workmanship has been disappointing Cracks in the cement, rust coming through and we have had to replace numerous elbow joints that cracked under the deck, the water bill because the pool was leaking and the auto fill just kept flowing. Then you started the work and shortly after that you removed some of the work your guys did saying "it was not good enough". Great Sales pitch, not much of craftsmanship. So it has been 3 years and 5 months since I had Outdoors and Beyond build pool and concrete decking around it at cost of close to $70,000 and it looked great, now that we have had some rain and project has aged things are happening, there is settling on one side deck, stones around the spa falling in to pool, tiles cracking, plaster patchy and areas of decking has these pop outs like someone has been hitting it with sledge hammer, I called on Shlomo Navama "Sol" owner of Outdoors & Beyond to have a look and may be can figure out a solution, it turns out there is nothing can be done since the concrete they have used has this material that is reacting to soil and popping out (I have 10 year old concrete in my back yard with same soil and no such issue), only solution would be to dig it out and redo the decking, and on settling on one side same issue the grounds have not been prepared properly so deck is separating from coping, again no solution but tear it out and start over again. I must say out the 3 different contractors I interviewed he sounded the most knowledgeable one, I turns out Sol is a great salesman but not much of craftsman, estimated cost of repair close to $18,000 and his response was we only give a year warranty on concrete, my suggestion to people trying to do business with him and his company ask for 5 years guarantee and hop he will be around to honor it, because no one should spend thousands for pool which has 10 year warranty on equipment but foundation and concrete work is not going to last as long. read more

I read the other reviews on here and I couldn't agree more! Hiring a contractor is a really tough decision and you are at their mercy with your money and your time! Hire Sol and Outdoors and Beyond and you will be relieved and have none of the stress you anticipated! They did a HUGE scope of work. He got the permits and permission needed from my Homeowners Assoc- not easy! They rebuilt my pool (Its gorgeous with fountains and a Baja reef!) We added an outdoor kitchen, a massive fireplace with a TV above it, a fire pit, several fountains, all new landscaping, walking paths and gardens, a new driveway and walkway and added new decorative pilasters and stone to the front of my house. Its gorgeous, its on budget, and on time. No shortcuts, all permitted and inspection passed and quality work, quality subs. Excellence on every level. Sol is one of the loveliest, most honest, and dedicated people I've ever had the pleasure to work with. I would give 10 stars! AND he also does INTERIORS! So Im hiring him AGAIN to do the inside of my house and my husband is hiring him to build out his office space. Cant say much more than that--- except he will be forever on our holiday card list too! Sol and his team at Outdoors and Beyond did a fantastic job designing and constructing our pool! We bought our house in 2015 and did a huge renovation to the house and knew we wanted to put in a pool on our hillside lot. From the moment we met Sol to consult on what our parameters were with pool details and choices we felt like we were at the very top of his to-do list. Even though he had many projects going at the same time, he was always promptly responsive to questions as well as to adjusting design logistics according to bumps in the plan as we maneuvered Pasadena permitting policies and engineering issues. Fair, accurate in assessments/projections of scope of work and cost, fast and on top of permitting and inspections, and very informative regarding design and accessory choices, Outdoors and Beyond went above and beyond our expectations. Our house renovation was very stressful and complicated and Sol came in to do the pool construction and design in the least stressful and most take-charge way with his expertise. I've been meaning to write this review since my pool was finished in February but we've been having so much fun with it, I haven't found the time. I got a couple quotes and Sol's wasn't the lowest. But when I looked at his previous work and met him, I just knew he was the one that I wanted to work with. He has a great aesthetic. And he is really straight forward and honest. The construction went well and my pool is gorgeous. Sol was really good with all the handholding that such a big investment requires. But where he really impressed was helping me with problem solving...He outlined all the possible solutions and didn't rest until the problem was solved. Even after the last payment was cashed he calls me back immediately and answers any questions I have with lots of patience.
