We went about 2 years ago and it was the BEST, however it was on a Tuesday so there was a couple of the actors up going through secret doors and whatever sorcery they were doing to pop out of nowhere. We went back last night (a Friday night and there was a bunch of actors this time making it ever more INSANE!!) The decor is legit, the actors are on point (scaring the crap outta me and literally running full speed out of the exit!!) The house seems (not sure if it is) like a for real very old three or four story house with all kinds of twists and turns, secret rooms and a (sorta) guide (who was horrifying lol) that will occasionally disappear and leave you paranoid (he always eventually came back for us) If I could give TEN stars, I would.

Attractions: Dollywood has some fun rides and especially fun if you like rollercoasters. My favorite being the Wild Eagle! They had a new 2026 attraction called Nightflight Expedition which is one part motion screen/one part rollercoaster/one part water flume and I have never experienced anything like it before. The Lightning Rod is another great coaster that really shows you the views in the Great Smokey Mountains! I loved the attractions here! Entertainment: Great shows if you like or love country music! They even had Gospel Entertainment and they were unapologetic about offering it which was refreshing to see. Plus Dolly Parton music pumping out throughout the park. Theme: It is Dolly Parton all the way with tons of Butterfly's and country charm. The 1950's town theme bled into the rural country theme that bled into the Fantasy Forest theme to the country Nashville town theme. No space or Superheroes themes but isn't Dolly Parton a superhero in her own way (we miss you Dolly!) Special Theme: We were here for Great Pumpkin Luminights and it sure did deliver on the Halloween themed fun. I suggest a fall trip to Dollywood if you can!

The scale is different but the experience is just as memorable and in some ways more personal. The coaster lineup is legitimately impressive. Big Bear Mountain is the longest in the park and a great ride for the whole family. Lightning Rod is one of the fastest wooden coasters in the world. Wild Eagle gives you incredible views of the Smoky Mountains from the top. Dragonflier in Wildwood Grove is perfect if you have younger kids who want in on the fun. The new NightFlight Expedition that opened in 2026 is a unique indoor hybrid coaster and river raft ride that works in any weather, a great addition. Beyond the rides the park has real soul to it. Live Appalachian music playing throughout, craftspeople demonstrating woodworking and glassblowing, the Dolly Parton Experience museum, seasonal festivals and theater performances at the Back Porch Theater. You could skip the rides entirely and still have a full day. The cleanliness here is consistently remarked on and it's earned. Every corner of the park is well maintained and the staff are the friendliest we've encountered at any theme park anywhere. Go on a weekday if you can, weekends get packed. Buy tickets in advance. Wear comfortable shoes. Worth every mile of the drive from the Carolinas.

I'm scared of big roller coasters due to a traumatic experience on one so I tend to go towards family friendly rides instead. Blazing Fury is just that! We sat in the very back and prepared ourselves for a gentle ride due to the tiny little lap bar and plastic seating. At first, I thought that this was the lamest ride ever, I mean...the mannequins and terrible animatronics were something else, it reminded me of one of those haunted house carnival rides. Then the first drop happened and OH BOY was that so incredibly unexpected, especially in the darkness. Then there were two more drops. The back seat really launches you unlike the very front. This was honestly one of our favorite rides, it's ridiculous and funny and the drops are unexpected but fun. I can see why people love it. It has a cool history, too!

We joined the queue and watched a video while waiting. After that first video, we were ushered into a second room to watch another video, but in this area we were shown postcards of the places we would see on the ride. Good thing, as otherwise you might not know what you are flying over. After the wait, you finally reach the boarding area with red, blue, and green dots on the floor. Red is the bottom row, and blue is the top. The attendant said the middle (green) is the best view--yet another video to watch about boarding and safety. Finally, we were seated on the ride. You have to thread your seatbelt through a center loop, so maybe don't wear a dress or skirt on the ride? The ride itself is very jerky, and the video is disappointingly low resolution. We ended up having a little motion sickness after the ride. For us, once was enough for this ride.
