Very poor work, no supervision, workers threatening and unresponsive to damage they did. Owner nowhere to be seen..

Update: During the recent ice storm, one of my large oak trees was ripped out of the ground which created a large root ball which broke my septic line. Randy Bixby responded immediately to my call and brought out his tree removal team, removed the tree and root ball and leveled the ground so the septic repair crew could repair my septic line. Bottom Line: Rapid response, quality work, with a focus on customer satisfaction at a very fair price. That's why I've been doing business with this company for years--they're that good!! read more

I have used out on a limb numerous times now and never disappointed. I have had people tell me I pay to much, but I value great work. They always clean up any mess, go the extra mile to make d as Ute you are happy with the work. When they give you a quote it is never jacked up later, because this or that happened. Insured , bonded, licensed too protect you and them. The old saying you get what you pay for could never be more true. I trust them and if you need tree work done look no further. read more

I made an appointment for him to give us an estimate for trimming our trees. This was a couple of weeks out. We found someone else in the meantime who was able to come next day. I left a voicemail but Randy must not have gotten it as he showed up to my house. He called me to let me know he was here outside my house and even though he had never called to confirm prior to this and I did leave a voicemail to cancel the day before, I felt badly. Keep in mind: this was JUST for an estimate, not for actual work. In the middle of telling him I was sorry he had come to my house, he called me a "Bi***" and revved down the road in his truck. Very angry and irrational and as I was a single mom at home with my 2 young boys, this was extremely scary. Do not recommend him! read more

Out on a Limb came out. They were supposed to raise the canopy on one side of the Elm, cut out some of the dead branches and trim the branches hanging low on the roof. I was inside and heard these horrible sounds on the roof. This young man was cutting huge tree branches off (2.5 ft long and 6" dia) . They were falling on roof. I was afraid of damage to roof. Then he proceeded to cut off limb. While falling I thought the rain gutter was going to come off. It was a BIG piece covering 1/3 of patio. I called Randy and told him I had concerns. After explaining, I asked if he would get on the roof to make sure there was no damage. His reply, YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR ROOFER and have him check it. I could not believe he said that! After the men left, I was flabbergasted. They were to remove lower branches over the roof.. They removed EVERYTHING over the roof. I was so upset. I will never use again! Upset customer. read more

I don't understand why anyone in her or his right mind would do business with Out of a Limb tree service. I had the following problems: Crew arrived late I first met with owner Randy Bixby on Thursday, June 3. The company was unable to schedule an appointment until Monday, August 16. The week before August 16, the scheduler called to say that the appointment had been moved to Monday, August 23, the crew to arrive at 8:45 a.m. I got a call that morning to say that they would be late, because they still had work that had not been completed the previous Friday. Two young men arrived at 10 a.m., and three and a half hours had been alloted for them to complete the work on my property. Because the work was not done to my satisfaction, Bixby, in a very terse and angry phone call on Tuesday, April 24, called to say that he would come to my home on Wednesday, April 25, between 9 and 9:30 a.m. I waited until 10:30 a.m., and then had to run an important errand away from the house. I got a call that evening from Bixby, informing me that he had come onto my property, done some work without me being home, what I consider a form of trespass. Crew was young, unsupervised, not well-informed These young men went to a small tree in the backyard first, assuming that was the tree that I wanted to have removed. I had to lead them to the taller privet. I felt that I needed to babysit them in the backyard. They balked at removing one limb that I had told Bixby that I wanted to have removed, and it never was cut. They began to cut limbs that I didn't want cut. Worst of all, they massacred one of my two favorite trees on the property, a Texas redbud. My husband and I had carefully pruned it over the years, and now it is mangled, its beautiful limb structure and leafy canopy destroyed. How it now looks breaks my heart--it will never be the same! I explained to the one young man how I wanted it trimmed and he didn't follow my instructions. The 22-year-old man from Puerto Rico didn't speak English. Who knows how much English he understood? The other young man translated a great deal. I did not supervise these lads when they worked the front and sides of the house--to my lasting regret. Clean-up was horrible It is mid-day, August 26, and I, a 70-year-old woman, have spent seven hours cleaning up the property so that it looks like it did before the Out on a Limb two-man crew arrived. And I had helped them in the backyard removing limbs to a pile that was to be taken out front. My own work the last three mornings includes lifting and cutting apart two very large, heavy limbs in a flower bed, reaching high with a rake into the Eastern redbud to remove cut limbs that were still in the tree, raking all the lawns, front and back, where limbs had fallen, sweeping all sidewalks and gutters. Two-man crew was overbooked, overworked I think the reason why the clean-up was horrible was because they crew was overbooked. The crew had to take time to put back into place the things that I could not. Lift a heavy plant stand, screw a Talavera butterfly back on the fence, reinstall a 2-foot tall plant divider. The job for my property was supposed to take three and a half hours, it took four. I think the rush at the end accounted for the poor pruning job of all the three redbuds along one side of the house. I could see on the work slip that this crew had another job in Churchill Estates, and then yet another job after that. I have not even discussed Bixby's lack of anger management. For all these reasons outlined above, I will never use the services of Out on a Limb again, nor will I ever recommend them to another soul. read more

Excellent work done to my front yard. Crew was quick and my trees look amazing I had a infestation of ball moss and dead branches but now my trees are ball moss free. The clean up of the property exceeded my expectation. I would highly recommend Out On a Limb . I will definitely be calling for help with trees in my back yard. read more

We have used Out on a Limb several times and each time the owner himself gave the estimate and came out to check on his team. Not only were we impressed with the price, but in his knowledge of oaks trees and the care of them. We were losing our grass in the back yard due to too much shade, so he suggested only to remove enough limbs to bring in some sun to the grass as to not injure the trees by cutting off too many limbs. Randy and his crew arrived at the specified time, expertly trimmed my trees and cleaned up the debris when they were done. The only thing they left was beautiful trees! Don't use this service. I asked them to cut my neighbor's tree off my pear tree and they cut part of it back but not all. I asked them to come back and they replied that "the job was done." I had to get someone else to finish the job. I have also had negative feedback from neighbors on Next Door about their poor services. read more

I just called Out On a Limb... They answered on my call in 3 rings... The girl was extremely friendly... She took my info and said someone would call me back to set up appt... I got a call back within 30 minutes and I've got an appt set up for Monday... I will update this review is if/when work is complete should we decide to go with them... read more

Does not have a reliable way to get a hold of him. You can leave MULTIPLE messages(with an answering service because there is no staffed office or person), and you STILL don't get a call back. Work was incomplete and crew foreman had NO IDEA what was included in the bid. This has been a nightmare--will NEVER use again. read more
