Service can be a bit spotty, but good overall. Like many places, they do tend to do a lot of take out and that sometimes takes priority over paying guests in the restaurant (one of my biggest pet peeves), but ... again ... the food is worth it. No matter what I order, they always get it right (and I do make a few substitutions). It's always hot and delicious and comforting. Their Tom Kha Gai soup is incredible. Sooooo good. I love their Chicken Fried Rice and the Chicken Massaman is really flavourful. BUT ... I could lay a bet down, that their Coconut Rice is the BEST in Melbourne. It's beyond delicious. I swear, I could just eat a bowl of that and nothing else and I'd be happy having it as my meal ;-) Thai Village is in a semi busy street (big supermarket across the road that brings in extra traffic), but parking isn't too bad. Also, their pricing is very reasonable. Thai Village is a casual restaurant and one of the nicest Thai restaurants I've been to. Definitely in my Top 3 in Melbourne. Give it a go!

Tender juicy chicken. Good colour balance. Divine fragrance from herbs. Juicy eggs. Pretty little Carrot florets. Cute Kawaii plate as underlay for rice. Lots of juicy chicken pieces but not overwhelming. Succulent vegetables. Quick 3 mins under shelter walk from Carnegie train station. Best Deal: Value for $ at $11.50. It's a steal! Food: Generous Portion size. Good amount of Meat. Service: Waitresses are well presented, smiling & polite. Came quickly to us when we raised our hands for service. Atmosphere: Love the clean wooden white decoration theme. Temperature is Climate Controlled. Toilet is clean. Crowd: Young professionals with mixture of hip youngsters. Place is packed full of people eating and queuing thus the food must be good. The food turnover rate is high thus the food must be fresh. I give it 5 / 5 stars. I will surely come back again to try different dishes especially the tom yum & drinks as they all look tasty. I highly recommend you to bring your family, colleagues and friends there this week for a pleasant gastronomic experience. :) Best regards, Jianfa Ben Tsai Fat Guy with 35 years of Restaurant Dining Experience Managed Food Business Worked at 5 Star Hotels

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now!! But seems to be consistently busy / packed…read moreevery time I'm in the area so best to book! Unless you want to eat after the dinner rush hour. Anyhoooo I had to fight hard not to let my imaginary second stomach take control when ordering. The place was packed! No walking space with people waiting to pay and waitresses busting their chops to satisfy hungry people! I wanted to order one of each from the menu after spying what others were eating around me. It's a small place .. Easy to do.. :) The test benchmark for me when it comes to Thai is the green curry.. This was amazingly good! Not sweat to the level of drinking sugar water and the bamboo shoots used were thinly sliced and did not overpower the curry. Smooth coconut along with the herbs... oh man!! hmm this little piggy did not leave a drop! The glass noodle salad at first reminded me of fish sauce in the sun too long... think mild fish sauce that's watered down and ur there. I did like it though.. don't take it apart to eat... The coconut ice cream ... I kid u not .. I think one of the waitresses stole a bite ... found it odd that there was a small wedge missing when it was served. Our teaspoons were clean at least. In testing it out the theory .. we ordered another.. the second one had no wedge!! haha Oh the coconut ice cream served with salted nuts and mild / reduced condensed milk in a small beacon was really good! We could have had a tub of it. Light and not too sweat.

If you're getting a starter, beware that their portions are far smaller than any other Thai restaurant I've been to. The Chicken Curry Puffs only come in twos, where everywhere else comes in fours, but I guess you can then still fit in your main meal. I must say, I couldn't taste the chicken in the puffs, but either way, the flavour was lovely. The fried rice was beautiful, fresh, moist (sorry, I can't think of another adjective to say "not dry") and tasty. Onion lovers will rejoice with the massive chunks found in the dish, but I could have done with a bit more refined chopping (for my taste). Overall, Thai Saffron is a great local gem if you want a nice casual meal out. You can hear yourselves even over other tables, and the service and food were great. Parking CAN be challenging at times, but I wouldn't let that deter you from giving this a go. It's definitely well worth it!

The food was a bit cold, but that's not the reason for the 3 star rating, the food was way too sweet, these dishes are normally a bit sweet, but they were sickly sweet!! The starter satay chicken and veggie spring rolls were nice. Kids liked them!
