While Dr. Oulette may be a good surgeon, my husband went to her able back in workers comp. My husband worked for his employer over 34 years and then was injured due to faulty equipment. Dr Oulette treated him like he was a leech and gave him a speech about mooching off the govt, which isn't even the case since WC is a type of insurance! And, my husband had worked for over 40 years of his life with not one other WC claim! It was the most demeaning and disgusting behavior a physician has ever displayed and actually should have been reported to the AMA since a doctor's oath is "First, do no harm". The quick review: 1. Brilliant, amazing, caring doctor 2. Wonderful staff that is caring & knowledgeable 3. Glenn the physical therapist there can help you achieve movements & reduce pain in many ways no other therapist at other places cared to offer. Detailed review: I was misdiagnosed at another hand doctor (pm me if you want to know who) & had a bad experience last year. I came to Dr. Ouellette & she knew what was wrong with my hand just by moving it around. She had me do nerve conduction tests, xrays, & an MRI to confirm. She was absolutely correct! My surgery, basically a complete hand reconstruction, was on 5/21/18. Her staff is always attentive at all my follow-up appointments. I'm still currently going to physical therapy. Her therapist Glenn is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, I took a fall 4 weeks ago (flip flop curled under & tripped me). Since I couldn't use my surgery hand to block the fall, I tried to block it with my good hand which ended up getting a break in the 5th metacarpal. The ER at South Miami Hospital misdiagnosed me! So grateful that Dr Ouellette's staff was able to get me in to see her asap. She treated me for that & I'm just so grateful because I know I will have a perfect recovery thanks to her & of course Glenn. I saw some people write stuff about how long the wait is. The truth is that I've had many appointments at this office with all of the drama I've had this year & only 2 times I had to wait a long time. I think she's worth it & I think my hand deserves for her to be the one to see me. I probably waited longer at the bad doctor's office last year & he did a horrible job. I am honestly at a lost for words. I am simply blown away. While everything that was previously said is 100% accurate, it is all water under the bridge once you see her. I promise you. Dr. Ouellette's bedside manner is absolutely phenomenal! She thoroughly explains EVERYTHING to you and makes sure that by the end of the visit you have no questions to ask. I had already gone to another hand "specialist" and was told that MRI images produced nothing and to come back if I experienced an pain. However, I had already booked an appointment with Ouellette for a second opinion. I am so happy that I did. Within 2 seconds of looking at the MRI of my wrist, Dr. Ouellette pointed out the issue with the same MRI images previously used by the other hand doctor. Of course with every good thing, there are cons. So the phone situation is atrocious. One Yelp, it says that the office opens at 8am. On their answering service, it says that open at 8:30am. I called after both times (including once again after 9am) to inquire about parking as this was my first location. All three times they still had the night answering service on as if they weren't open. So naturally once I got there, I inquired about their business hours. They actually open at 7:30!! So basically it's a choice to not answer the phone. You can request appointments by email, however if you're in the area; just stop in. The other con is yes the wait is long but not super long. At least not for me today. My appt was at 9:30am, they called me back to the room at 10:10am and she came in close to noon. However time seemed to pass quickly because I was actually doing things from my cell. So you barely notice it unless you're impatient or have nothing to take care of. Outside of these two cons. The place is great. There is also a physical therapy section there that I thought was pretty cool. Dr. Ouellette ordered for me to have a splint. The physical therapist fitted me and put on my splint right there. Everything was simple and quick. I will definitely be coming here from now on for all of my hand and wrist issues as they arise. I ask you to overlook these cons and give her a try. You will not be sorry and your extremities will thank you later. read more

Amazing Dr and PA, but outside of that EVERYONE ELSE IS RUDE AND DOES NOT CARE. The only way to contact the office is by carrier pigeon. Maybe Dr. Ouellette is a good surgeon, maybe the best, I don't know, but I can't say that because it didn't get to the actual surgery. Here is my disappointment: I have a small finger cyst, I have an insurance, I want it to be surgically removed. I found my network hand surgeon. I made an appointment and have visit a doctor. Before I said what is my problem I ask them if my insurance will cover it. I have a specialty doctor visit co-pay $75. So doctor said I have to not worry about, it will be cover entirely. She took a look at my finger the most 5 minutes, and then I had a x-ray done. For some reason they did not charge my specialty co-pay at that day. Later, during the week somebody called to schedule appointment and representative said they will charge me $1000 extra out of my pocket, which I have to decline. After I received $500 bill for doctor diagnosis for 5 minutes. YES $100 per MINUTE! Part of my insurance covered part did not. I have to call to Baptist Health South Florida coordinator to discuss my billing problem, I did not have a success to do so. It is very disappointing, the name Baptist Health should reflect a honesty, not money making machine. I will skip this place if for some reason I want to go to doctors, I will look somewhere else. I waited 1 hour and :48 minutes in the waiting room to go into a room to wait again, I was a new patient and was not advised that the wait was going to be over 2 Hours!!! Needleless to say I left. If I had been advised that it would be a looong wait I would have A. taken the day off B. Taken my laptop and C. my phone charger! I am so aggravated and i also waited 3 weeks with pain to see this Doctor!!! this is so inconsiderate! I am certain there are other Hand Docs that are exceptional and their office advise their patients of the wait! So disappointed ! read more

CONS- Sometimes its REALLY hard to get someone on the phone. LONG wait time sometimes (BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT) Came across ONE rude staff member but i haven't really seen him there anymore. Even so he eventually became nice. PRO/CON?- Surgery wait time was crazy. Not sure if its the office or the hospital. I was told to come in at 6am and didnt go in to surgery till almost 3pm to wait another hour and a half in the prep room. Not a deal breaker though considering she fit me in her schedule to help me out. :) PROS- Another doctor made a complete mess of over the course of two surgeries. I was in extreme pain and it was my dominate hand. I couldnt paint anymore. She fixed it in ONE surgery and addressed other issues that were looked over or missed by the other doctor. My right hand is now fully functional and i am back to painting and drawing! She is continuing to help me out. The staff is helpful and understanding, helpful and goes out of there way to help you out. The doctors are amazing and understanding. Ouellette cares for her patients. She understood i had met my deductible and scheduled my surgery on the 29th of December to help me out! She really is the best. Clean and beautiful office. Everything is done there! Physical therapy, stitch removal, MRI! Overall, the only issue for me is the wait time but the end results are worth it. Will continue to go here. This place is the Bombdiggity!!!!!! read more

I personally am not the patient but my mom is. I have been present for most of her doctor's visits and during both of her surgeries. No joke...this lady is the female version of "House" for hand surgeons. She is top notch! She is professional, knows EXACTLY what she is doing, and only recommends the surgeries you REALLY need. I personally don't believe she's just in it for the money, it seems like she truly cares about her patients. I saw Dr. Ouellette after a fall and injury to my wrist. The reviews are correct, you do have to wait...my appointment was @ 9:45 and I wasn't seen until after 11a...Well worth the wait. She is phenomenal, well worth the wait. I welcome her conservative approach to my treatment. She actually saw a concern of another matter and gave me a referral. Her staff are pleasant and courteous...good customer service. Not glad for the injury...however glad I was referred to her. Well worth the wait. read more

We waited hours in her waiting room, only to be evaluated by completely uneducated and inept staff... seriously, she must hire her staff from dropouts. This is only fitting for a provider who is not only disrespectful to her patients, but absolutely cold and rude. Find a better option. I'm sure the doctor is great, she has the best reviews and I'm sure she is an amazing professional. Unfortunately, I asked for an appointment with her and got checked but a nurse practitioner that didn't even take an X-ray on my wrist. Gave me some pills and dismissed me after my $140 co-payment. Fast forward to 3 months after that, my hand got worst, and I called to get an appointment with the doctor, this time, please; but they informed me that if I want to see the doctor my wait time is an average of 3 hours. I work, I have a child at day care I need to pick up... really, 3 hours? I didn't even get to make the appointment, the operator was rude, placed me on hold several times, and did not care about anything I needed. read more

The absolute worst pre-appointment phone experience I have ever had. After having been referred to Dr. Oullette by the Chair of a major hospital's orthopedics department, and after that Chair had contacted her office to inform her of the referral, I left 3 messages over a period of 4 days before getting a call-back -- from the answering service that handles appointments. During the call, I was placed on hold 5 times while the operator answered "other incoming calls." Once the appointment was made, I received a "confirmatory" email with the wrong time. Further, when I asked for confirmation that my records had been forwarded to Ouellette's office, the operator was said "he was only an answering service" and told me to have them faxed to another number. I commented that the process did not inspire confidence in a new patient, to which he advised me that I was "free to find find another doctor." Really?! Is this doctor so off-the-chain that she can tell new patients to F-off when they express dissatisfaction with her processes? Newsflash Dr. Oulette - there is NO medical event that will compel me to submit to the patient disrespect exhibited by representatives of your office. The wait time is a bit much and if you're not patient then it tends to be an issue. I don't have much patience but given i work in the medical field it becomes an understanding that waiting is part of good medical service. She has a good team! Terrible services. Waited over two hours and 15 minutes to see one doctor who never gave me a solution to my problem. Unprofessional office in which can careless about appointments and keeping them. It's not about how amazing a doctor seems to be it's about the quality of services rendered to the patients and this office only cares about billing the insurance. They even made me pay my co-payment before even seeing the doctor or having any services rendered to me. People tend to forget no matter how good they are with what type of medicine they practice there is always someone better then them. read more

I went to four hand surgeons in Miami with the same MRI taken of my right wrist. Being the lay person I'm complaining of wrist pain in both wrists. Of the "other four" hand surgeons, no one had a clue, one thought it was a tiny cyst under my thumb, another told me to consider aging gracefully (hello I was 45 to which I replied that aging does not involve passing out from pain). I will spare you the other opinions but let's just say I also visited 3 gynecologists, did lab tests for hormones only to find out I am not peri menopausal (yes, wrist pain made one male doctor conclude I was hormonal) but that my prostaglandins aka pain hormones were extremely high (yes, I'm passing out from the pain). Dr. Ouellette was the fifth and only one who realized that the reason the right hand hurt more than the left was because I had broken my right arm, clear as day 1/2 inch down from the wrist on my MRI. No cast necessary by then, I had healed that broken arm. Additionally, the other four unanimously refused to even look at my left hand because "it would be an insurance nightmare" & I swear that is a quote I heard from all four. When I repeated that to Dr. Ouellette, she called in her intern & explained that we are developing a relationship here, she asked me how far I drove, how long I waited in her lobby & said that I was investing in our relationship and she was going to do the same. Long story short, the left wrist was less stable, had broken bones (also healed) and I had four surgeries to the left 3/1/16. I want to add that Dr. Ouellette is patient, kind and is truly looking out for her patients. She explained everything thoroughly. Her staff is top notch and in a different league than everyone else. She performed four wrist surgeries at once which means insurance paid her 90% on the first surgery, 50% on the second surgery, 25% on the second surgery and she performed the last surgery for free. One of the other four was ready to perform a TFCC repair immediately. Let's do the math, cast 6 weeks then splint for 6 weeks then rehab for 9 weeks, would you rather do it once or drag it out for years? I just had four surgeries on my left hand, can you imagine how long that would take and the cost and the pain of dragging it out for four separate surgeries!? Remember, I still have the right hand on which to operate. Don't waste valuable time going to anyone but Dr. Elizabeth Anne Ouellette and the Ouellette Group Physicians. Ps. Several years ago, I went to see Dr. Ouilette with two hands that were terribly disfigured as a result of several botched arthroplasties done by another Miami hand surgeon. She looked at them, and, before doing any x-rays, said that she knew exactly what had been done, and how to correct the deformities and repair my hands. X-rays were then done, which confirmed her assumptions, and surgery scheduled for first one hand, then, later, the other. This woman is an artist of the highest order - when she had finished, and they were finally healed, my hands went from looking like claws, to being beautiful to look at, and fully functional once more. I have no idea if Dr. Ouellette is an outstanding doctor, I can't get anyone on the phone to schedule. Three (3) weeks out and I've called multiple times, only to be put on hold, then hung up on. Last week I sent a fax asking for someone call me for scheduling...no response. I was told by my Orthopedic doctor that Dr. Ouellette was someone I should see for my hands...time to move on to a doctor with better office staff and who will give patient's some respect. read more

I am sure she is a good doctor but be prepared to wait. This is a practice that does not respect it's patients. The staff that schedules appointments should be fired. Making people wait 2 hours is unacceptable. Most people who go to her are in pain. Going to her office is only going to increase your pain. They can fix this if they want to. read more

I had a very bad experience yesterday at this office. My appointment had been booked over a month in advance, for 8/6/15 at 1 pm. When I checked in, the receptionist told me that the doctor was running a little behind and it would take about an hour to see me. 1, 2, 3 hours passed and i had not yet been seen by the doctor. When I asked one of the assistants there how many patients i still had ahead of me, I was told that there were three more patients, and that it would take about one or one an a half more hours to wait. That would have represented about five hours later than my original appointment. To me, this is a clear case of overbooking as well as an unacceptable practice. Needless to say, I left the office after wasting more than 3 hours of my time, without having seen the doctor. While I understand her time is valuable; so is mine. I would not recommend this practice to anyone, nor will I be back. read more

Terrible experience, I went to the Miami Beach, area office. I had an injured hand, and I didnt even get to see dr. elizabeth ouellette, even though that's who I made and wanted the appointment with. I saw an assistant, who told me they would put my hand/fingers into a splint for me, after x-raying it., it sounded good to me, then they said, "oh, that will cost $300.00 extra dollars for the supplies". WHAT?? I had insurance, so I dont know why they would try to charge for supplies, a person is injured, comes to their office for help, has insurance, and its still not enough for them. VERY SELFISH and GREEDY is my opinion of this doctor. Greedy with her time as well, the office told me, i had an appt. with her, but when i got there,,, it all changed.... I do not recommend this doctor.... I had to leave, still hurt,,,, and having to make phone calls, with a hurt hand outside the office to see someone who would see me and not charge an arm and a leg for additional supplies. Ridiculous! I think they should have saved me the time, and stress and told me this before I went in,,, so I could have made an informed decision, that they over-charge.. read more

An update from 2013, my daughter's left hand that Dr. O operated on - is doing fantastic. Last year, as expected her other hand was injured wakeboarding. After getting a local diagnosis, we knew the only doctor on the planet that we would trust was Dr. Oullette. Even though she is almost 4 hours away, she really is the only option for a complicated case. Once again, my 16 year old is completely healed and back to her stunt training and mud runs! Elizabeth Anne believes it is perfectly O.K. to keep patients waiting hours beyond their appointment time. I left after cooling my heels for over 1 1/2 hrs without seeing her. Her game, of course, is to make sure she has not even a minute of down time despite the major inconvenience to patients. This is rude. and an insult to patients. The canned excuses by her staff..ie., emergencies, consultations taking longer than expected, etc.. don't cut it. She is never early for an appointment, so thid is clearly a matter of ovetr-scheduling. Elizabeth Anne will continue to abuse patients until people stop putting up with it..as I did. No matter how skilled a doctor is, it's not worth it. There are hundreds of really excellent hand surgeons in the Miami area as alternatives. (All of this ignores the office administrative procedures that suck. Eg., fill out a whole bunch of forms, than have a tech ask the same questions all over again.). read more

Dr. Ouellette saved my elbow! In Sept. 2016, I fell and broke my elbow very badly. I went to a local hospital in Boca Raton, FL, near where I lived and found I needed surgery which I had with a local orthopaedic surgeon. After a few weeks, the surgery failed -- my arm became stiff and painful. My follow-up appts. with the surgeon were useless as the surgeon had no use for follow-up appts. where there was no money to be made. In fact, he blamed me for not taking enough narcotic pain meds to do the physical therapy so as to increase my range of motion. I was lucky at that time to be referred to Dr. Ouellette by my wonderful physical therapist. After an initial visit to Dr. Ouellette's office, she performed surgery a few days later. Four months later, my elbow and my arm are functioning fairly well and I'm hoping for even more healing and range of motion. She is as nice as she is a great surgeon. I liked her immediately--she had a great deal of compassion for my painful arm and she does not encourage the use of narcotic meds. She is unlike many bright professionals I come across in daily life, in that she is also so warm and caring and positive! What other reviewers have said about a long wait can be true, but personally, I'd rather have the long wait and have a functioning limb, than a long wait (long wait at my former surgeon as well) and a useless and painful arm. They also make time for more urgent situations so that will slow up the schedule. She is really a wonderful, responsive doctor and human being.
