Information on Skatterbrain is next to non-existent, but I can tell you that my "research" revealed all of their whiskeys share one thing in common (well maybe two if you include they're all fun flavors). That commonality is they all have an animal wearing sunglasses on the bottle. In the case of the Dark Chocolate banana Whiskey, it's appropriately a gorilla. Total Wine (where I purchased it) describes it as smooth Canadian whisky blended with the flavors of dark chocolate and banana with rich, fruity, and complex qualities. I question the reliability of that though as Skatterbrain spells it as "whiskey" on their bottle, which is typical of American and Irish Whiskey, but not Canadian "Whisky". I found the chocolate flavor to be stronger than the banana, but the two make an interesting combo. I wasn't bananas about it initially, but it grew on me, making it an acquired taste. I don't know how others drink this, but I found it worked nicely in my version of a "Dirty Monkey" (recipe below). Although I found this whiskey to my liking, I still prefer my go to banana rum for this type of drink. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews Doughboy Dirty Monkey: -30-50ml Dark Chocolate Banana Whiskey -5 oz milk of choice -1 tsp sugar free chocolate syrup -21g chocolate protein powder -1/4 diced large banana or 1/3 medium banana -1 tsp peanut butter -4 medium sized ice cubs -approximately 1/2 tsp xanthan gum to thicken -Blend well in a standard blender, pour and enjoy

You know I love a good hidden gem…read more Old Germantown is just that. We were in the general area-ish doing some shopping and wanted to get some pizza for takeout some place closeby to enjoy at home while watching the Olympics (because it's in Italy--so pizza seemed like just the thing). A search on Yelp brought up this place as somewhat closeby. It was after dark when we went in search of it. We drove down a rural road past what appeared to be a driveway that led to a farm. This can't be it. We tried again. Navigation brought us to the same driveway. My husband was ready to give up. I decided to call the business. A kindly gentleman answered and said--yep! It will look like you're driving to a farm but we're here! As we got closer to the end of the drive we saw a bustling parking area. While it might be hard to find--the people have found it. And, so did we. We entered to find beer hall vibes with tons of communal seating. We asked if we could order to go which they were more than willing to accommodate. We found a couple bar stools at their bar, ordered our salads and pizza, and then enjoyed a couple of stout beers while we waited. The beers, salad, and the pizza straight from their wood fired pizza oven were all fantastic. We got one of their specialty pizzas which was a white pie that comes with ricotta (as well as mozz) mushrooms, and basil on a crust that has just the right amount of chewiness and char. Lovely! The folks working here were above-and-beyond friendly. And, one told us that they have a large outdoor patio during pleasant months. We will definitely be back during the pleasant months. And, let's be real--during the less than pleasant months as well. Get to it!

This is definitely a hidden gem that you'd never just stumble across. There is no signage at all…read moreand from the street it looks like an old barn off the road. Upon driving in there is a building for the restaurant along with nice outdoor seating, and area for kids to play! We went in mid May on a sunny but cool evening. The kids loved having the sand area and toys to play with while waiting for dinner to arrive. They have a good menu, but there seemed to be a decent amount of items unavailable especially the sausages my friends wanted to try. We ended up with the spring pizza, sassy pig, a plain cheese, and then a three combo of sausages. I thought the pizza was all good, not the best I've ever had but solid. The spring pizza was my favorite. The sassy pig was very unique but good! Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the sausages but others in my group liked them. We upgraded that to include fries and there was only a very small amount. We will definitely be back, seems like a great spot for groups!

Family owned and operated. If you aren't from the area than you don't realize what this liquor store offers. If you are from this area or the one in West Allis, then you probably are spoiled with what they have to offer! I rarely go in and not find what I am looking for (except at times beers and sometimes wines). That's not a knock... what place provides you with any wine you want? What sets Discount Liquor apart is the knowledge experts in wines. They were voted as 50 best wine stores in America... you have a question, ask and you shall receive. Price is good on most, cheaper than some but the variety is unsurpassed... maybe besides Total Wines. If you can't find something talk to an employee and they will help you with ordering it or find a close replacement. I have been looking for Rombauer Zin and they made a suggestion to go with Truett-Hurst Zin and we agreed, it is a close match. I love how they divide the store and categorize sections and again, you will find it difficult to find a better value and service.
