Julia (1 hour) felt like a continuation of the work I was doing with Nikki, yet obviously with her own style. Each lesson is focused on growing the basics. Both instructors are very mindful of your body language, not just the mechanics and answer questions providing insight into horse behaviour based on your interactions. They keep the horse consistent . For all this I will continue to drive 2 hours round trip for two lessons (30 min ea) once a week! (perspective of this review: mature adult novice/beginner English rider, picking back up from childhood recreational riding. Recently started taking lessons and wanted to find a place to add another lesson each week.)

Very disappointing that they wouldn't reschedule us and only offered a 50% discount, citing their cancellation policy and having to adjust their staffing. To be clear, we did not ask to cancel; we asked to reschedule our trail ride due to a medical emergency. Their policy COULD allow for exceptions in circumstances like this, but they chose not to make one. Given the advance notice we provided, the ranch had the opportunity to adjust staffing accordingly. The Ranch also suggested that I could have purchased the optional ticket insurance at booking for added flexibility. But I did not plan to break my finger or require the flexibility to reschedule. Unexpected events happen, but unfortunately your response suggests that protecting revenue takes precedence over accommodating customers facing genuine emergencies. Their "well wishes" feels disingenuous when it is paired with a refusal to either (1) honor the ride at a later date without penalty or (2) provide a full refund. Extremely disappointing.

Donna was extremely accommodating regarding our arrangements (which were not straightforward!) and her flexibility and suggestions made our whole morning go incredibly smoothly. They delivered 8 single kayaks at 8:30 in the morning, which completely eliminated any hassle for us, and met us at the end of our kayaking and took care of everything. Mobile kayaking is a great concept! Donna and her 1st mate were super friendly and very pleasant and fun to work with. Simply fantastic and highly recommended.

It is the shortest trail however it is very steep and even though I'm from Massachusetts and I used to climb this mountain every year growing up, this was a challenge for me. I live in Florida and it's flat I had my map, a bottle of water, a protein bar, my phone and my windstorm whistle (the world's loudest). I felt pretty safe. With a lot of huffing and puffing and some encouragement by a few hikers along the way, I made it to the top. Just as I exited the trail, a park ranger stopped me and notified me that the summit was closed due to blasting! He said that by the time I go back down, I might be able to get to the summit. It was rather a disappointment, but I just laughed about it. Quirky things like this had happened my whole trip up to Massachusetts. On the way down, I found a walking stick that someone had made out of a branch and it really helped me because the rocks were huge and it was hard for me to maneuver. I then decided that I was going to take my shoes off and go, barefoot like I did as a child and it helped tremendously as my feet had better grip than with the shoes on. Once I hit the crossroads between trails and it was dirt, I had to put my shoes back on. I met a woman near the end of the trail and she hikes the pine tree trail all the time just for exercise. I highly recommend visiting these falls if you live within driving distance- They make an excellent…read moreday trip! These are one of three major waterfalls in the area (Tully Reservation). The hike is fairly rigorous, with pretty steep inclines and a lot of rocks. It's challenging, especially in winter while icy (which is when we went), and likely a moderate level hiking trail. It's a beautiful area, but the overlooks are fairly modest. Don't expect a spot on the trail to overlook a mountain range, but the trail itself runs along the river and there are nice smaller falls before reaching the main one. The trail markings are okay, not excellent, and likely harder to follow when it's not winter and leaves are on the trees. However, most of the trail does run basically right along the river, so it's pretty hard to get lost. There are some restaurants to eat at in Athol afterwards, which is within 20 minutes, but I wouldn't recommend trying to find anything very special there. I recommend bringing some sandwiches or something or go to another town to grab some food afterwards. It is a very rural area, so please remember to come prepared! Bring lots of water, food, and a flashlight just in case you get stuck out there at night- the light on your phone won't help you find the trail again at night ;) Be safe and have fun enjoying this beautiful gorge and waterfall!

From the second we pulled up, she looked at us with pure attitude, like we were beneath her. She made us feel like an inconvenience, snapping and acting like we didn't belong there. It was humiliating and completely uncalled for, especially considering she was literally with 2 different customers- how professional! After snapping at us for simply entering the premises, she continued to laugh at how she had just treated us in front of other customers (who experienced the whole thing) For reference, she was a blonde woman with neck tattoos, so there's no excuse for whoever in charge to not know exactly who this is and take action. I seriously don't understand how someone with that kind of nasty, hostile energy is allowed to work with the public. She has no business being employed anywhere near customers. She should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY. This woman ruined the entire experience, and because of her, they've permanently lost a loyal customer. Absolutely VILE behavior that will not be tolerated and this will be continually reported until action is taken. It's sad, because the gentlemen that work there are so kind and made our past experiences so wholesome. It was truly the place to go when you needed a break from the busy world. Super unfortunate how some nasty unhappy woman could ruin it.

Came here on a Sunday in June 2013. I called the visitor center (413) 323-7221 the day before and…read moreasked what's the best time to arrive to rent a motorboat. The person says that if I'm there between 6:30 and 7:15, I should get a boat. I arrived at "Gate 43" at 6:45, and they were already out of rental motorboats. They said the other 2 rental docks are also rented out of boats. The dock guy laughs and says I needed to be in line at 6am for a rental motorboats. Why didn't I get this guy on the phone yesterday? RENTAL BOAT take-away: Get there at 6:00AM, or you will not get a motorboat rental! Our alternative was to get a row boat for $20/day. Assuming all visitors are not boat experts, it would have been nice for Quabbin staff to tell us to ensure the drain plug was plugged into the boat. I found out later from an expert fisherman that Installing the drain plug is usually #1 on any boating checklist. We didn't know, so haha, we push off and there's water flooding into the boat. I head to the boat house, ask the staff about it, they tell me to put in the drain plug. Thanks for the advance notice guys. The row boats are essentially the aluminum motorboats without the motor. The boat has 3 metal rows to sit on. The oars are very old, and make the rowing a back-breaking job. We saw some pickerel and other fish, but didn't catch anything. The temp was very hot so that certainly played a factor. The views are gorgeous and breathtaking! Overall, try to avoid some of our mistakes. Based on our experience this weekend, some of the staff here are extremely unhelpful. Other than that, I'd come here again (only if I could get a motorboat.)
