    Osteria da Carmela, Napoli

This very tiny restaurant only has eight or so tables and they take reservations, so if you're not able to get a booking, then I suggest showing up just as they open for dinner at 7pm and hope for the best. My friend and I were first to show up and the manager/server seated us immediately and then the place really filled up. Two appetizers, two main courses and two desserts plus a bottle of wine: €82. Quite reasonable, really. I got the fried anchovies to start and they were amazing. Lightly battered and you can eat just about the whole thing in one bite. They were perfectly delicious with only a slight fish flavor but it was subtle and perfect with a tiny squeeze of lemon. My friend got the mussels and they looked perfect and tasted terrific. For main course, I chose the clams with linguine. A nice sized portion with lots of clams, lots of garlic and the pasta was perfect. Simply amazing and flavorful. For dessert, I got the chocolate torte and it was just the right size for finishing the meal. My friend's caramel panna cotta was beyond perfect. Creamy, rich and delicious desserts. Fantastic service, great food, a cute little restaurant that could be considered cozy and romantic. Five stars. [Review 19239 overall - 387 in Italy - 209 of 2023.]

I think this was my favorite meal from our entire Italy trip! It is small and busy - be sure to get a reservation- people walked in and were turned away even though we were there early. Service was kind and thoughtful. We ordered a half bottle of wine and 3 dishes. It was plenty of food for my husband and I. We shared the fried cod, frutti di Mare pasta, and a cheese plate. Everything was delicious- frutti di Mare became my favorite pasta after this meal. Not only was the food delicious, but it wasn't terribly expensive either. I would definitely go back next time in Naples.

Osteria da Carmela is a wonderful little restaurant that serves AMAZING food. We started with a couple antipasti - Mozzarella in carrozza and prosciutto con mozzarella. Each were fantastic in their own way, but the prosciutto con mozzarella was the star. The mozzarella was ridiculously amazing just by itself. For our first course my wife and I had the Spaghetti alla Nerano and it was a wonderfully creamy and flavorful dish that absolutely wowed our senses. We then shared a second course of Scaloppine with porcini mushrooms. Its simplicity belied how amazing the flavor was. We then ended with a couple desserts... our favorites were the cake and flan. If you can eat anywhere in Naples, we highly recommend Carmela - you won't be disappointed! (It's not a large place - come early so you can get a table before they're all spoken for)

Every slice was flavorful, well balanced, and unmistakably Neapolitan, with each one bringing something a little different to the table. The fried pizza really stood out, light, crisp, and not greasy at all. This place captures everything I love about pizza in Naples: confidence, tradition, and execution without overthinking it. A must-stop if you're serious about pizza.

We decided to come here for dinner and were craving a good seafood pasta. They also had their famous Seafood Risotto for two and we could decide, so we shared the seafood pasta as a starter and the Risotto for two for our entree. Service was great and friendly and our pasta was to die for! Spaghetti cooked perfectly al dente mixed with mussels and eggplant topped with parmigiano reggiano. Simple, straightforward, and super tasty. The vibe is awesome with outdoor dining and people watching going on, people are just in the moment of things and conversations the night away, NOT on their phones. I was expecting a pot of risotto to come to our table to split, but we were pleasantly surprised and super pumped that two full sized plates were delivered, fully loaded with clams, prawns and langoustines and a perfectly done risotto on the bottom. For 28 euros?(about $33 usd) You definitely won't get even ONE plate for that price in America! Needless to say, we were stuffed by the end of our meal and decided to walk it off in the bustling streets before seeking out dessert options.
