Terrible experience. The owner (Pete) appears so miserable and acts like he can care less if he gets your business or not. He was unfriendly and detached when I first walked in with a Stihl chainsaw in hand; which I had purchased from them several years back. When I went to start it this Spring, it wouldn't turn over, so I decided to have them look at it. Pete tried to start it in front of me, but it wouldn't turn over for him either so he told me that I'd need to leave it. He called me the next day to let me know that it was ready for pickup. When I arrived, the bill was over $200! For what? He said he refurbished the carburetor and replaced the spark plug PLUS he decided to put a new chain because it was loose. Almost $40 for the chain itself, when I didn't need one! A total rip off business in my mind. He should have at least called me first to get my approval on the charges before surprising me at pickup. Of course it's the inflated price that bothers me, but more importantly it's their nasty attitude. I will never go back to this business again. read more

Like others have experienced, unless you are a major client, you will be treated as a 3rd class citizen. Don't buy into family-owned business or have been around for 35 years. It's all marketing bullsh*t. They have the worst service department; Pete and Jessica are both unapologetic and don't care. If they did you wouldn't read any negative reviews about the bad service. Yes, there are happy customers who say positive things about their service but remember, truly good people treat ALL their customers the same 100% of the time not most of the time. That's what makes them genuinely nice. So, save your hard-earned money and go elsewhere. They have enough existing business so don't need yours or respect and appreciate all customers. Maybe if a competitor opened shop down the road with better service taking away customers will OLM treat EVERYONE as a valued customer but I doubt it as people are consistent in their behavior and show their true personality over time. read more

Bought a Stihl chainsaw from them, and had them do a tune up and chain sharpening on another Stihl saw. Generally a friendly bunch who actually call you back. The purchase process was fine. They were sold out (right after Hurricane Sandy), but they took my name and called me when they got the saw I wanted in stock. The turn-around on my service job was pretty good (a few days). They called to let me know that the work was done. But when I got there to pick up the saw they couldn't find the paperwork, had to hunt around to find my saw, and when I got home I found that the chain was drum tight. I'm not actually sure the saw was finished and ready to go. So I'm knocking off one star for that. read more

I purchased my White Outdoor lawn mower (Briggs & Stratton motor) from them approximately 15 years ago and it's still running. Had it serviced a few times by Ossining Lawn Mower and the service was top notch. Recently, I went there to purchase my Husqvarna chainsaw and the sale and service were, once again, outstanding. Great selection of outdoor products and the prices seem very fair. Not the most conveniently located shop as parking is sometimes a bit difficult but still highly recommended. read more

One of the important criteria on a store that sells lawn mowers and snow blowers is in the service of these products. They have always been fair and knowledgeable in repairing the machines I have bought from them. I went in last week to buy a few products to insure that the blower would work well throughout the winter and the transmission oil, engine oil and even the shear bolts were all in stock and very reasonably priced. read more

Don't bother. Went in to get a oil filter - two men behind the counter had to finish there conversation before helping me. After about 90 seconds he asked if I need help? No I'm just standing here to see if I can help you!!!! I didn't have the engine type for my ride on mower, which is something he could have looked up in two seconds. Guy made no effort which is why I figured I'd put a review in. Heard mixed things over the years and won't ever walk in again. read more

It is a convenient location for me and the price seemed right for a tune up on my Honda lawn mower ($85, plus any parts). They were fast but when I picked up lawn mower it was $135 since they stated it was $50 in parts for things such as sharpen blades and spark plug. I told them I was quoted at $85 and no one called to say that any parts had to be replaced. I was informed that the $85 is the labor fee. They did take some money off but talked down to me and tried to compare it to getting a car tune up. I stated that when I get my car tuned it it includes basic things and they call me if something needs replaced. I feel that they were misleading and I am not going back. I have been to Ossining Mower a few times to purchase a tractor, Weed Wacker, and Blower. Everyone that works there knows their stuff, they even talked me out of spending $3500 on mower and talked me into a used tractor, they can be a little un-organized but all in all I would recommend them for sales/service. read more

I brought a snow blower in for service two months ago. They replaced the carburetor without asking me, charging me at least half the price of a new snow blower. The blower worked for 2 small storms and failed completely on the third. I have never been able to start it again. I will buy a new one, but certainly not from them. read more
