Apparently I'm not the first to have this problem. A guy came out and measured our kitchen (IKEA kitchen install) and said he'd be back to us within a week with a quote for the work. We would have installed it ourselves but we needed a new hole through the wall for the new range hood, so we needed professionals. I explained this was the only real reason we wanted to contract them for the install and he was sure to get the range hood product info and all the measurements for the quote. A week went by, then two. I reached out and didn't hear back for another week. He said he was traveling and someone else was handling the project. He would call them to check in. He emailed me the next day saying I should hear something in a day or two. Another week went by. I called and asked where my project was- someone at the office said they'd get back to me soon. The next day a woman left me a voice message saying she was taking over working on the quote and wanted to know if someone had come out to measure yet... I guess she could have checked the file but nope, she asked. I called back and said yes everything should be in the file. She said she'd get me the quote the next day. Another week went by. I called the original guy who had been traveling- he said he couldn't believe they hadn't gotten it to me yet. He called them and sent it over to me via email. The quote was missing the most important piece- the range hood installation. I asked him why it wasn't there as we made it quite clear that was a requirement. He said he gave the office the measurements and instructions so they should have factored it in. He said he'd ask again. The next day he emailed me back saying he didn't work there anymore and 'good luck' on getting what I needed. I contacted the home office in MD again and left a voice message. I then sent an email. Then another email. Weeks have gone by and no one has gotten back to me. What a huge waste of time. We were ready to drop serious cash on an installation; now we're just going to do it ourselves and find a contractor for the range hood portion. tl;dr Don't waste your time! Do what you can on your own and get specialists for the rest. Osprey Bay doesn't have their stuff together, and IKEA, if you monitor these, your company needs to find a new partner for installations. read more

We went to Ikea at the end of April and paid the $199.00 to have someone come out from Osprey Bay (the company they use to do installations) to measure the kitchen and come up with a design. We did have a consultant come out and measure and design the kitchen with us. A few weeks later, he called and said he was leaving the company and would not be able to work with us. He had very negative things to say about Osprey Bay but I thought that it was just sour grapes. Was I wrong. After months of trying to get someone to take over the project and get our kitchen installed, we finally gave up. We are still trying to get our deposit back from Osprey Bay and have since hired another company to do the installation. I would highly recommend not using Osprey Bay. They are unreliable and have extremely poor communication with their clients. It is too bad that Ikea has chosen them to do their installation exclusively. We have heard through the grapevine at corporate that Ikea may be menacing a change soon. I hope so. Dealing with Osprey Bay was painful and non productive. We will probably have to sue them to get our deposit back read more

There are many reasons to beware of Osprey Bay. They are a company who have expanded much too quickly. They were having issues servicing the Washington DC and surrounding areas and then were handed the entire east coast. I have been dealing with them since December of 2011 and my kitchen reno started at the end of Feb 2012. They owe me money and I have been fighting for months to get what is due to me. They have kept me thinking that this money was going to materialize since May of 2012. I wish I would have went with my gut; when they told me that 100% of the money was required up front, I got a very bad feeling. I should have gathered my things and RUN......but, instead I ignored my gut feeling and went forth into a nightmarish situation. I thought that since IKEA endorsed Osprey Bay that they were my best choice. WRONG!!!!! Beware of Osprey Bay, they do not do what they say they are going to do, they overcharge, and they do not give money back when it is due. Their employees seem weary and this is understandable after finally meeting their CEO last month. The installers that came into my home were all privately contracted to Osprey Bay. They were not employees of the company. They all had many jobs going on in and out of Osprey Bay. For this reason, I now know that if you seach hard enough you will find someone to install your IKEA cabinets; you may as well be your own project manager from the start....you will have to do it anyway if you choose Osprey Bay. If no stars was an option; that is what I would select! These are the most unprofessional contractors I have EVER dealt with!!! They take your deposit then you have to call them for months for an update only to find out your project is just sitting on a former employee's desk! Then they will finally schedule for an appointment, call you 4 minutes before someone is scheduled to be at your home and then cancel. Damaris Gonzalez is the absolute worst at her job...IKEA should cut their ties with this company as they cannot handle the load and will continue to cause IKEA to loose business!!! PLEASE PLEASE search the interwebs for reviews...specifically ikeafans forums and here at yelp (the reviews are filtered, but are accurate I am sure) before even talking to this disaster of a company. I really am not going to get into too many details b/c it infuriates me to recount them plus it would take too long to type. In general the company is unresponsive, will not communicate, has their own employess (project managers) quit in the middle of projects, does sub-par work, and generally sucks at everyhting they do. It's a shame IKEA has partnered with them (some internet traffic says that Osprey is out as approved installers as of Sept. 2012.). I can personally say that I will NEVER buy one thing from IKEA ever again just based on this one experience. I'm sorry, but the whole 'guilty by association' thing is apllicable in this instance. Though we complained to IKEA on multiple occassions, they weren't able to do much with regards to their approved installer's lack of professionalism and absolute inability to function as a company in a customer-centric industry. We had an installation scheduled for a certain date and got a message from our project manager that he left the company. Just getting to this point was like pulling teeth (getting a contract, etc). We never heard from OB regarding a new manager so I began the arduous task of calling on a daily basis, being lied to, told that I'd get calls back, etc, etc. Scott Keates assured the woman I talked to for several days that I'd hear from him before the end of the day. That didn't happen. I finally got a conference call with him, some other lady at OB (Dee Dee), and myself. At this point I was furious and demanded that we receive a refund for the 'total project management' fee we contacted. We were assured tha fee would be removed (it was not, but that's another story). Crap, I'm now mad again and need to stop writing. Suffice it to say, dealing with Osprey-Bay was/is the single most frustrating, perplexing, infuriating, exasperating, terrible experience I have ever had with anyone/entity/company in my life. Do yourself a favor and check the internet for reviews. People have resorted to showing up at OB's office demanding to see the CEO. I sincerely wish someone had posted here like they did in consumer checkbook (which I saw after signing the contract), because it might have saved me a tremendous amount of money, time, and aggravation. Really wish that there was an option for no stars. One is WAY too generous for these buffoons. Went to Ikea on 8/16 to schedule a contractor from Osprey Bay to come to my house and measure my kitchen for $199. We scheduled the appointment for 8/24 at 2pm. The day of on 8/24, we sat around until 3:30 and no one showed up. We called the offices at Osprey Bay and the customer service rep was very contrite about what happened. They admitted that it was an error on their end as they had never entered the information in their computers about the 8/24 appointment. I was a little ticked off because I had to rearrange my day to fit this appointment in, but I was forgiving as mistakes do happen. No big deal. The customer service rep and I went back and forth looking for other dates to re-schedule the appointment and today, 9/8 worked on both ends. I'll let you take a wild guess as to what happened. Yup, no one showed up AGAIN!!! My wife called Osprey Bay and the CS rep was rather rude and wouldn't hear her out or give a good explanation as to why no one showed up. At this point, we are fed up beyond belief. She said that Ikea had placed a hold on all service projects involving Osprey Bay and they (Ikea) should have contacted us to let us know. Oh, here's another thing. On the automated message where you get options to get to different departments in Osprey Bay, it CLEARLY states that their hours are something like 9-9 M-Sat. The lady that we spoke to today said that they are actually closed and she was just in the office to help someone book a flight hahahahahaha. Are you kidding me! Booking a flight...BOOKING A FLIGHT! She said that she would then try to call the CS rep that we had spoken to that booked our 9/8 appointment. We were placed on hold (after she took our info) and when she came back she said she called her cell and left a message and she should get back to us. Whatever. At this point, I was beyond done w/ Osprey Bay. We then called Ikea to get everything settled. Ikea told us that it was Osprey Bay that should have called to say that there was a hold on the projects (even though Ikea had our $199). It's nothing but "he said, she said" at this point. We don't know who to believe but we just want our money back. Ikea said that we would be re-imbursed, and to make up for the missed appointments and for not telling us that they NO LONGER WORK WITH OSPREY BAY (sorry to you folks out there who actually put down a couple grand for their upcoming work with Ikea products), we could get a free 2 hour consultation in store. Great - but that's not what we need. We actually need someone to come out and measure our kitchen. When the Ikea rep calls us back (which they said they would), we're going to let them know that they messed up as well. They had our $199 and never bothered to tell us that things were severed w/ Osprey Bay. It's a mess. My head is about to explode and I need a drink. read more

STAY AWAY FROM OSPREY BAY! My in-home consultation was in mid-May and I was assured by the rep that I could have my kitchen remodel finished by July 4th, a 9 week timeframe. Immediately after I gave them my deposit the problems started: My Visa was billed twice for the initial payment to begin the project. It took two weeks and directly contacting the company CEO before I got credit for the second billing. They ordered and charged to my Visa hundreds of dollars worth of Ikea kitchen items that I didn't want, but did not order an appliance I expressly said I wanted. I ended up going to Ikea myself to return the items I didn't want, buy the appliance I wanted installed, and bring it home. (Thankfully I have a minivan.) When the cabinet installers finally showed up, they damaged an end panel they installed, didn't cut the back out of a wall cabinet so that the microwave can be plugged in, did not level/plumb a different cabinet they installed, did a general shoddy job on the install, and left without completing the work. My Osprey Bay project manager assured me that the day after my counters were installed a plumber and cabinet crew would complete the project by hooking up the sink drain, kitchen faucet, water line for the ice maker, and gas line for the stove, and complete and make the necessary fixes to the cabinets improperly installed or damaged. No one showed up the day they were supposed to. No phone call, no text, nothing. Even more frustrating, I called and left messages to multiple people each time a problem arose. The only person who ever responded was my project manager, but on the day the work was supposed to be finished, no one from Osprey Bay returned my phone messages and texts. As I write this, it is August 9th and more than a month after I was told that my kitchen remodel could be finished. As it is, my family will now go without a functioning kitchen for a third straight weekend. Osprey Bay has already charged my Visa thousands of dollars, and I have spent an equal amount on Ikea products. You'd expect that these two partner companies would want to take care of someone spent five figures on their goods and services. Sadly that is not the case. read more

Stay away! My opinion is that the "project manager" sent out to review the design was incompetent. She failed to translate what we discussed to a meaningful quote. It took them 4 weeks to come back with a quote that included features that were not discussed. Very poor customer responsiveness. Find another contractor! read more

DO NOT HIRE OSPREY BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Working with Osprey Bay was one of the worst, most traumatic experiences I have ever had. I hired them for a remodel of my condo, and they performed horrible work took approximately 10 times the contractual time period, were negligent and careless, repeatedly bullied and harrassed me, sending men to my house at 8:00 am unannounced, demanded early payment of work not completed, and threatened to put a lien on my home if I did not comply. I found out later that they literally hired illegal workers from SEVEN ELEVEN, who had no idea how to do the job, and went around the building begging for help. Their workers repeatedly complained to me and my neighbors that they werent being paid. During the 6 months they refused to answer my calls and repeatedly abandoned the job, sending and occasional angry worker by. Now, less than a year later all their work is falling off the walls cracking and falling apart. They only reason I havent sued is that I am so traumatized by the gruelling 6 month experience that I think I might actually have a nervous breakdown if I tried. I had the pleasure of having Marjorie Hochman help me design my dream kitchen from IKEA. There was no way I could explain just what I wanted. However, with the little information I was able to provide her, she worked with me so patiently, changing things as I changed my mind, and came up with exactly what I wanted. This woman is amazing!!! Nothing I described seemed to give her a clear definition of what I wanted in my new kitchen, yet she designed it, moved things around, and by the time she was finished I was looking at the exact kitchen I wanted - yet couldn't seem to convey. I don't know how she did it but she is absolutely amazing at the job she does. I do have friends and family who will be looking to redo various rooms in their homes and I would definitely recommend her to all of them!! She is an asset to your company and I hope you realize just how professional, patient and exceptionally competent she is at her job. I personally thank you for having someone like Marjorie availble to help someone like me and others who will need her guidance to create their dream rooms. They started last Tuesday and are still at it this morning. They have six more cabinets to assemble, the island cabinets. They are now working on getting the range in-place (installing the Wolf stove, anti roll over clip) then the venting hood. By then Gil will have just about all the island assembled. The last thing they will do is to adjust all the doors and put in the filler sections. We very much like what we are seeing. Oh, the eleven foot wall between the two corners, everything fit, with about a half inch to spare between the wall and the wine rack, the guys, Eric and Gil had to play with the cabinets back and forth, until they found what they were looking for, and that 12" base section went right in with nothing to spare. Everything was just perfect fit! I am here with my son and his family, my wife took off with her cousin for Martha's Vineyard until the cabinets are in, and my son's family is head back home. What a petunia, as I though that she was tough enough to take it. At the beginning, and waiting for the delivery of the 171 boxes, and the start of the assembly, I was very worried about my wife's last minute changes, "Major Changes"! And there were none! That tells me that you did a great job in guiding us to what we wanted. I thank you. I haven't used my cell phone in weeks, as that is all I needed, one more thing demanding my attention.
