Wow! It's been many years since I've been to the Oshawa Centre. I used to be the assistant manager at a photography store in there in the mid-eighties. It never used to look like this! And it never used to be this big! I don't know when it happened but the mall is twice as big as it used to be and looks very modern and clean. Where did they find the space to expand? I'm excited because it's a huge change from the last time I was here. I believe this was originally a strip mall that was enclosed by the time I worked there. It is now the largest indoor shopping mall in Ontario, east of Toronto, with over 230 retail stores and services. They have a lot of the popular and trendy stores along with some good restaurants and a large food court. One fact I remember hearing from back in the day is, the mall is 3ft short of half a mile long. That sounds like a good place to do some laps and get some exercise. At roughly twenty minutes or 20km from home, I would consider shopping here.

The last time I was at Oshawa Centre was a good decade ago. I broke that streak when my friend and I decided to choose a midpoint to meet between Markham and Peterborough. We went with this mall. The area where Sears used to be is still unoccupied. The Bay is still there. Chapters is now Indigo. It has been renovated and is stunning. It looks modern from all the renovations. I love the new food and drink stores, such as Pie Squared, Real Fruit Bubble Tea, and Eat My Shortbread Cafe. This mall has a Marshalls. My friend wanted a Winners. We both didn't find anything we liked at the former store. We tried the interactive directory on the main floor, just before the escalators. The touch screen was highly unresponsive. It took us about twenty times touching the screen to finally get the directory to work. I'd come back for the food and drink places, and Indigo. It's a good mall that continues make improvements, which is always encouraging news. (10)

The last time I was here was yesterday for their October 2016 sale. I went on the last day of the October sale, and I found that the selection wasn't as good as from their sales about a year ago. First off, there wasn't much selection for women, and a lot of their merchandise are for guys. Last year, I was able to find a $10 warm hoodie, but now, the cheapest one I could find was $40 and I got the last piece with my right size. My fiance was able to purchase many hoodies, and there was a lot in stock - for guys. This time though, I was impressed by the abundance of Timberland shoes, I was able to purchase a couple of men's boots for my fiance with a good price. I checked my receipt and the calculated average of savings I get is 50%. I would recommend still checking this place out, as this is a big warehouse sale, and they have a lot of different types of clothing to shop for. They have hoodies, sweaters, t-shirts, work-out clothes, work pants, winter boots, safety shoes, winter jackets, golf apparels, even beauty products and jewelery! The warehouse is very organized, they have a lot of staff who can help, and the check out process was also fast and efficient. Review 100 of 100 - YAYY!

Pack your patience. - Pickle Barrel and Moxie's are a part of this mall, but are standalone buildings on the property. - Farm Boy is a part of this mall. It's good. I like the fact that the original name, Pickering Town Centre, is still alive and thriving on Yelp. The mall changed its name to The Shops at Pickering City Centre. I remember disliking the longer name. I don't call it that. Neither do the locals. It's like Rogers Centre. It's still SkyDome to me. Markham doesn't have a Farm Boy. The Farm Boy at this mall was my closest location until the Sobeys on Laird recently got converted to a Farm Boy. This location is my second-closest one. It's decent, especially the custard tarts and the hot foods. I have been to this mall several times recently. I've been to both Pickle Barrel and Moxie's for a late lunch on two consecutive Saturdays. The former has brunch and happy hour specials on weekends. Moxie's has brunch twice a day, every day. I enjoyed everything that I ate and drank at these two eateries. This past Saturday, I visited the Cineplex that's a part of the mall, but I didn't see that you could enter the mall through it. It has two VIP theatres. It's lovely. Staff were amazing, the food was yummy, and I loved my VIP experience. The downside is that parking was challenging to find an available parking space. It's funny that I haven't explored what the mall part looks like these days. I guess old habits are difficult to break. Growing up, my parents and I would come to the Pickering Flea Market. At one point, it occupied the back parking lot of this mall, facing highway 401. This flea market moved locations over the years, but eventually ceased operations during the pandemic. It was in operation for over forty years. I need to hit the food court. It has Edo Japan and Bourbon Street Grill that I like. I need to explore and figure things out. It's a decent mall. I need to come here on a weekday and see what the parking scene is like. Hopefully, it's better than my Saturday excursions! (185)

It was held in front of the old Sears store, which is currently Spirit Halloween. That's my first impression of this mall. Stores close, but this mall and the folks behind it find creative ways to lure shoppers and eaters to come here. While heading over to the ribfest, I noticed an L.L. Bean sign. As a fan of casual, comfy clothing, I knew that I had to return and check it out. The mall's layout is interesting. I parked by the entrance closest to L.L. Bean and Moxie's, which was the second floor. This mall has two floors, but the top floor is more like a third of space than what you get on the first floor. If someone forced you to choose a single floor to shop, you would want the first floor because you've got more variety and the food court is there. I would be torn if this restriction was there, for Coles and Showcase are on the second floor and I love them. The main anchor stores are Hudson's Bay, SportChek, and Homesense. The former is massive and decent. I checked out the food court because, hey, I like food and my feet automatically moved me here. You get your usual chains, such as A&W, Subway, and Teriyaki Experience. The ones that I didn't recognize were Good Karma (Indian fare that looked so good) and Wikki Hut (Asian-South American mix of food that looked yummy). There is a blocked-off area to dine, with two staff members checking for your proof of vaccination and ID at the entrance. I spent most of my time in L.L. Bean and Hot Topic. I enjoyed looking at cool merchandise in both and ultimately making a purchase in the latter. I ended up getting snacks at Mr Pretzels and Kernels Popcorn. They are away from the food court, but the aroma from the latter lured me over here. I love that they are practically next to each other. I am a fan of both places and would definitely return to this mall just for these two businesses. The mall is clean and nicely kept. The women's washroom was bright and in great shape, which also included a separate nursery section. I saw a dental clinic. I didn't see any other health services, so you're not coming here for a doctor's appointment. However, you can get your prescription at Shoppers Drug Mart. The only downside during this pandemic is that there aren't places to sit down to take a breather, other than the blocked-off food court. I wanted to eat my pretzel and pretzel dogs somewhere. I ended up sitting in front of the fireplace where you technically aren't supposed to sit down, but I did anyway. It's a decent mall that has practically everything you need and a lot more. There was lots of parking available. I like it here it and would come back to shop some more. (405)

Because it covers such a vast area, it's best to figure out which stores you'd like to visit and drive over to them. The stores range from outlets to regular retail. You also have eateries and professional services mixed in for good measure. My go-to stores tend to be Winners, Kitchen Stuff Plus, Gap Outlet, and Krispy Kreme. The first two are next door from each other, so it's a two-for-one shopping extravaganza for me. I have found some nice merchandise at good prices at both stores. I love this Gap Outlet, as I have scored some nice discounts on jackets and clothing. I don't consume donuts often, but I love Krispy Kreme to the point where I've been known to do a donut run before heading back to the office. It takes me fifteen minutes to get here from my workplace. It's deadly and cool. Besides the stores that I have just mentioned, here's a running list of stores at Heartland that I have visited so far: - Bath & Body Works - Best Buy - Loblaws - Marshalls - Old Navy - Roots - Seafood City Supermarket Here are eateries that I have stuffed my face at: - Grill City - Heart Sushi - Jollibee - Tandoori Flame There are so many stores and eateries. I haven't visited them all yet. It'll take a while!
