Have been coming to Oscar's for several months now, and have been satisfied. I had to change barbers due too, appointments being kept. Oscar has been very consistent with keeping them. He also knows what time your appointment is, so if you walk in early he's aware. I will say that it's one of few places I have gone too, that they will shampoo your hair. I had a very disappointing experience. I went in with blonde hair looking for a change to strawberry blonde; I left, however, with dull, ashy brown hair with some white and red streaks. No shine at all. He colored all of my blonde hair the ashy brown color, except for some strands that he bleached to a white blonde (some of which he later colored to red). I spoke up immediately when he removed the color foils and started drying it. I was shocked at the stark contrast of murky brown with white stripes - they did not look at all like highlights. The stylist / owner was defensive and not at all apologetic. That made it so much worse, and even though he said I could come back later in the week, I had lost all faith in the process with him. He did color over some of the white stripes to soften them, but that just left me with more murky brown hair. I had trusted him to make the right color choices to make my hair look at least close to the picture we discussed. It wasn't close at all. My original color was much closer to the picture. I woke up on Tuesday wanting to chop my hair off, but everywhere I went was either closing early or didn't have an appointment. I saw the reviews for Oscar's and noticed it was right down the street from me, so I thought "why not?" I walked in at 5 and Judy said she could squeeze me in at 6 if I could wait an hour. My first hair salon in America, I got my new hairstyle here. The staff is courteous and welcoming and always smiling, I was first timer yet no strange. We went there without appointment but Oscar gave his immediate time slot without making us wait and wasted no time. Suggested some hair style and started his art. I got out of my chair after 20 mins, looking really neat, smelling nice and refreshed. My hair style is really nice work of Oscar. Got many compliments by many on how nice it looks. The location is beautiful, but got a manicure that was horribly done. She did not buff my nails, trim any of my cuticles and she used top coat as a base coat. She used water instead of cuticle oil to push them back. No attention to detail and she didn't even paint my nails to the edges. Less than an hour after we left my nail polish was already peeling off. Next time I'll save my money and do them myself before wasting $15. My husband did get a fantastic haircut at the salon by one of the hairdressers so we will probably go back for a haircut at least. :/ read more

Oscar's Salon is simply the best. A hidden gem at Josey and Valley View Lane in Farmer's Branch. If you transported this to North Dallas, you would be paying 2 to 3 times more. This is the real deal here. A really good cut at a really good price. It's a place that deserves a look. Seriously, this place is a hidden gem. Oscar and Maria are wonderfully gifted and talented at color and cuts. This was my third time back, second time with a color, and I got exactly what I was hoping for with my crazy pinterest inspired galaxy colored hair request the first time, and then peacock colored touch up request for this visit. I am glad I decided to give them a chance! I initially visited them due to not getting an appointment in the day I was free at my original hair salon for touching up my purple bayalage highlights. Based off of great reviews online and the fact that Oscars Salon was so close to my house, I wanted to see if they could keep the more difficult colors (like purple) in my dark hair for longer without fading so quickly as I had seen with some other places I had tried. I was sold after the first go, and my 'fashion colors' lasted twice as long before fading. I then decided to entrust Oscar to chop about 6 inches off my hair to freshen up the cut and go for an angled choppy shorter bob and he totally delivered. Went in with an appointment for partial highlights but somehow ended with full highlights. Service was great however took much longer than expected. I showed the hair stylist a picture of the Carmel color, chunky highlights. Instead it ended up being too light (almost gray) and thin highlights. I had my hair cut by Oscar on Friday, June 21. I made the appointment one day before and was pleased to learn he could fit me in the next day. The salon is located on the NW corner of Valley View and Josey Ln. in a strip center. Nice traditional modern salon atmosphere inside. Oscar meets me right away and we review the picture I had brought for the cut I wanted (Emily Maynard's hair from the Bachelorette). He said it should work fine for me and sent me to Juanita to wash my hair. Oscar was very kind and interesting to speak with during the cut. You can really tell that he knows hair and seemed an artist at his craft. He cut my hair while it was still damp. Juanita dried and styled my hair at the end I am thrilled with the final look. I am definitely returning. They are a full service salon but I only needed a cut. He did a completely new style for me and charged $40.00. The price in relation to the work and end result is an incredible value. He says they have been in that location for seven years and they do not plan to go anywhere. I think it's important to go to the same stylist when possible so you can learn what works best with your hair together. This will be my new spot. I feel like it's a hidden gem that I will recommend to friends. read more

My last 2 haircuts at other salons were a nightmare (including Clive & Co who butchered my hair). I have been looking for a while for someone who knows how to cut hair. I let it grow out for months - after my last haircut, I felt I had to just to get it long enough on the sides for a decent haircut. This past week, my hair was completely uncooperative and looked AWFUL! I was ready to risk even a bad haircut today, just to get it cut. I had seen Oscar's Salon when I shopped at Big Lots, and looked them up on Yelp before making an appointment. I'm so glad I called them! I was able to get in on short notice on a Saturday no less! And I was a little nervous, because I didn't have a photo with me of what I wanted. Yuri took the time to show me photos, and to make sure she knew what I wanted. She even said we could cut the layers shorter after my blow dry if I felt they were too long. I really LOVE my haircut! This is one of the few haircuts I have EVER had where I didn't want to go home and immediately wash and restyle it. It looks fantastic. I will definitely come back for my next haircut!
