A great find in this neat little town on the eastern plains of Colorado.. Oscars Pub & Grille... And just a few steps our hotel ( Comfort Inn). It's named for the movie oscars, the decor is cool. The bar tender, Hardy, is amazing!! He stayed open later than usual because we showed up at closing !! He made us a 'custom made' Jack Daniels Lemonade... I really debated between a 3 & 4 star rating. We went in at about 4PM on a Sunday. I was taking my husband out for dinner for his birthday and we happen to be in Limon for his work for a few weeks, so this place seemed to be the best hope for a decent steak, which is what he wanted. We were greeted promptly when we entered and chose the sit in the dining room, as opposed to the bar mainly for ambiance. The decor it movie/music themed and so is the menu. It didn't thrill or offend, although my husband did comment about the antique movie camera by the hostess stand. It was pretty interesting. On to the service/food. The waitress was polite and good with service, in general, but not necessarily in follow up. She took our drink orders, dropped them off and walked away without asking if we were ready to order or if we wanted any appetizers, which we were ready and we did want apps. Once our order was in, the jalapeno poppers (or whatever their movie themed name on the menu was) show up promptly and they were hot and good. Our dinner; I ordered the sirloin/shrimp combo, my husband ordered the porterhouse steak with fries, arrived looking delicious. Well, looks can be deceiving. My food, for the most part, was good. The loaded baked potato had fresh cooked yummy chunks of bacon, ample butter and sour cream, but, unfortunately, was a bit undercooked and still kind of hard. The fried shrimp and the sirloin were good, but nothing over the top and imho, not worth the $22 price tag. My husband's porterhouse was toted as 20 oz. ($32), but I think it'd be hardpressed, even prior to cooking to be 16oz. When i asked him how it was, his reply was, "Acceptable." He's a many of very few words, but "acceptable" isn't high on his list of words to describe anything he enjoys. It was a bit overcooked and (I tasted it), not all that flavorful. NOW, what I will say is, this is a restaurant in the middle of truck stops and travel centers. Was I expecting a 5 star fine dining experience? No. Thus the reason I decided on 4 stars rather than three. I am sure if I went back and ordered a burger or some bar food, it'd be at or above my expectations. So for that reason I will say it's a decent place with decent food and I would go back again, but next time I'd save myself $100 (check plus tip) and just sit in the bar and order a burger and a beer. read more

I am NOT from the area but was staying at the first in Gold motel 3 miles away and the lady there recommended this place, so I figured we'd go eat there. We were seated immediately by a very friendly host who promptly brought our menus and got our waitress for us. She was also very friendly and promptly got our food & drink order and brought it back to our table. I ordered the hamburger but on the menu it was the name of a movie. It came with gorgonzola cheese and it was delicious. I had the salad bar to go with it. Very simple, make your own salad basically, but I like fresh salad so it was good and only 2 dollars extra. My friend got the steak and a baked potato and he said his meal was also very tasty. I will definitely come back again if I'm ever through the area. read more

It's actually pretty good. The service is quick but there weren't many people when we arrived but more people came for lunch. Fortunately it's possible to order simple things from the menu. I had a burrito which was filling but not overwhelming which is always nice. If I ever have to drive from Denver back to the north east, I would revisit this place. read more

We were traveling via I70, and I wanted to stop somewhere to have a sit-down meal and let the kids stretch their legs. The wait staff was friendly. However, the restaurant was out of everything we wanted to order, and the food we were able to order came out completely burnt (my Reuben, my daughter's grill cheese, even my other daughter's bread for her lasagna). I know that restaurants are doing their best during this time. However, previously working in the food service industry, I never would have served the food we were given. We spent $70 without tip, and think we would have gotten better food across the street at McDonald's. read more

Spent a week here working on the wind farm outside town. Ate here just about every night. Nice bar and pretty good food. Best steak I've ever had- ordered the ribeye with Gorgonzola cream sauce and mash potatoes. Large selection of bottled beers (nothing on tap) and good selection of liquors and whiskey. Excellent food and service. We ordered a variety of items. Pepperoni pizza that was so good, did take a little longer to cook but they were super busy. Got a rueben sandwich, grilled catfish, chopped steak & chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo was soooo good!! Definitely recommend stopping here to eat. read more

This was well rated on three sites...but I'm not going to echo those reviews. We had a salad, taco special, and a hamburger in our group. The salad was rated as "good". The burger (with coated fries) and not the coleslaw she ordered was rated "average". And my Tres Amigos soft corn taco special was just plain "poor". Tasteless ground beef in a rubbery corn taco with pinto beans (not refried) and plain, bland, and somehow greasy white rice. You don't have much to choose from in Limon, Colorado. Wow their food doesn't taste that great and they want to charge to arm and leg for it. I walked in their waiters sat me down than disappear for 20 min. Finally my food arrived but it was missing few things that they r going to charge me extra. My waters dropped my food and disappear again. When I was done I had to asked them to remove extra stuff they charging which I never received to remove from bill. Now they were all apologies but I am done so it doesn't matter. Food was good. NY Strip was HUGE and cooked very well. My only complaint was that the bar staff kept showing youtube videos of kids singing over the main speakers while working behind the bar. It was annoying as hell. They kept playing the same one over and over again to show friends as they arrived. Be prepared for loud music, but if you can stand that the meal is actually pretty good. We were staying just one night in Limon on our way home. Oscar's was close to our hotel. Upon arrival we were seated immediately. The restaurant was busy but not loud. This has become one of my pet peeves...loud restaurants. We were able to sit and enjoy a glass of wine before our dinner. Oscar's has a nice list of beers also which my husband appreciated. My husband had the ribeye steak which was flavorful, tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare. I choose the lasagna. It came with 2 large pieces of garlic bread. Baked to perfection, with lots of sausage. The tomato sauce was slightly sweet and flavorful. A perfect dish. We each had a small salad from their salad bar. By the time we finished our meal we were very satisfied. We just wish this restaurant was closer to our home as we would certainly return. read more

I was so excited to order a grilled salmon with salad. It was called "I am the legend". I was less than impressed as the salmon was super scary to eat! My significant other ordered the lasagna and I thought good choice as lasagna is safe. It was literally thrown in the styrofoam container. Aweful presentation. Literally we felt as if we were an after thought as they scrambled to put our order together when we showed up to pick it up. Don't eat here!!!!! It was absolutely horrible. As mentioned in so many posts before, a great little food outpost as you make your way away from or towards the Rockies. Got the Burger which, if I remember correctly, was unfortunately called "Grease" after the movie. Asides from the embarrassment of ordering a dinner named after a musical, it was delicious. Not huge but definitely filling, and not as greasy as its name implies. Decent selection of bottled/draft beers, particularly some good Colorado locals to try if you're just passing through. With a few motels/hotels around it makes Limon not a terrible place to crash on a long-drive. read more

IF our server would've said ANYTHING besides having a dumb look on her face, or if the food was actually WORTH the wait & the ridiculous prices, I wouldn't be making this review. THAT'S HOW BAD THIS PLACE IS! Also - the womens restroom smells like a dirty dish rag, & the wine selection is non-existent. The funny thing is - we came here because we thought this was the "better" restaurant in the area (based on the reviews.) I realize the people of Limon have NO idea what real food is! I had lunch here in August 2017. I guess we should've guessed the quality of the food when we walked in at 1 o'clock and the place was virtually empty. This is despite being in the middle of a very busy commercial area with lots of visitors off of the interstate. I ordered the beef tacos. While they weren't exactly bad, they certainly weren't good either. They tasted like tacos you would make on a Tuesday night because you're too busy to do anything else. Like they came from a mix from the grocery store. I don't think this restaurant will be around for very long. The food just isn't really worth the money. read more

A respite from fast food, and some pretty cool movie posters and other Academy Award trivia. I had some pretty bland alfredo. My granddaughter had chicken strips , my wife had something like a Ruben. 8 hours later I hardly remember the good. Can't give much of impression. This place is trying but misses. They need to pick 1/3rd of the menu they are offering, purchase better ingredients for those choices left, and they might make it. The food cost has to be sky high, so quality suffers with the myriad of menu items offered. Cant be everything to everyone, even if your patrons are captive in the nearby hotels. Its clean, staff seems nice, fix your food before its too late! Only way this place makes it is the fact there are NO choices in the area. BTW tonight, table of six.
