I can never stop by San Diego and not get Oscar's! Their tacos are so good! Unfortunately, the day we came they were out of octopus tacos which is our favorite, so my husband and I ended up getting surf and turf plus fish. With their salsas, it was so great. Definitely coming back!

Limited number of tables. Ended up sharing a table with another couple who was nice enough to share half their table. Seafood Tacos are larger than your average street taco. Got the taco special which has scallops, smoked fish and shrimp. It had good flavor. My friend got the grilled fish taco which wasn't fishy. We shared the mixed ceviche. The light orange sauce you could add on the tacos was delish. Food was as good as I remember.
Only reason this place does not get five stars because of how long it took to wait in line and then after waiting in line to get our food Food was fantastic. My personal favorite taco is the taco special with shrimp and chorizo being a close second. My friend said the smoked fish taco was one of the greatest tacos he's ever had If you come here prepared to wait at least 30 minutes to order and then probably another 20 to 30 for your food, depending on the size of the order
Came here with my mom right after paddle boarding and the food hit the spot! We got a taco especial and a mixed ceviche! Both were a good portion but the fish in the ceviche was too big and chunky. Even though we beat the rush, we felt bad for the people behind us. They waited SO long to order. The cashier moved at a snails pace and showed no sense of urgency when the line was out the door! We had to leave because my mom was getting super annoyed. Still recommend coming here because the food is delicious.

I feel like the asada and al pastor tacos got smaller... none the less. Great flavor, the open air style restaurant adds to the vibe. I will stay coming back.

Great food with large portions. The service was fast and friendly. It's a no frills Mexican restaurant with excellent food. The amount of folks coming through was pretty impressive.

I had one wish when I came out to California, well maybe more but one was an octopus tostada or taco , something I can't find in Florida. The octopus taco was excellent. The grilled octopus was tender!! There was a minimal amount of cheese so as not to overpower the octopus. Topped with shredded cabbage and fresh pico de gallo along with slices of avocado. The soft corn tortilla was tasty and didn't fall apart. Loved it!

I personally love their Torte De Oscar and you can't go wrong with any of their tacos. The line is usually super long and inside is usually very crowded, so taking everything to go and eating it alongside the beach just footsteps away.
Food was AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!! Fresh and sauces were delicious. If anyone is cilantro-adverse, use the white sauce and red (a little spicy) sauce you can find in the fridge in little squeeze bottles. Service is quick and efficient. Noisy and busy on a Sunday night. Well worth the wait! Parking is busy too, but small price to pay for excellent tacos!
If you're looking for some great ceviche, look no further. My partner and I stopped by for some lunch and enjoyed some tacos and ceviche. We ordered the mixed cup ceviche which was super good and extremely fresh. It came with two fried corn tortillas that you could break into chips and put the ceviche on top. We ordered 4 tacos: grilled octopus, battered shrimp, skirt steak, and grilled fish. Our favorite by far was the octopus. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. Battered shrimp was also wonderful. Least favorites were probably the grilled fish and the steak. The fish taco didn't have a veggies on it, just avocado so it felt like it was missing something. Yummmmmmmm, I love the octopus taco $8.75 here! This is the Pacific Beach location. Parking is on the street. There is a lot of seating inside. Bathroom available. They specialize in seafood, so the ceviche $9.50 is a must try here. Besides the octopus taco, I recommend the surf n turf taco $7.50. Someone once told me the tacos here are yt, and they're not wrong. It's def not a street taco or one from TJ. But they make my taste buds happy. Sauce bar is on the side. You have to add your own sauce, but they don't let you bring the bottles to your table. Water dispenser is free and self-served. read more
the BEST fish and shrimp taco west of the Mississippi. Battered fish and battered shrimp is what you have to get no doubt. These are no joke.... The freshest, juiciest, crunchiest, most delicious and perfectly balanced tacos you can possibly get. One bite will make you close your eyes and shake your head in disbelief and how something this good exists. I've been here many times and the last time they offered me a small free cup of some fish soup which was great and comforting. Oscar's Mexican Seafood The line was super long on a Saturday night, but these tacos are huge and totally worth the wait. I started with the Battered Fish Taco (3.75): cabbage, onion, tomato, and cilantro. It was amazing! The fish was very well done and the batter was perfectly crispy. My absolute favorite was the Surf & Turf Taco (7.50) with steak and shrimp; it was honestly insane and easily the best of the bunch. Casual taco spot. Pretty long line, wait was over 30 minutes on Sunday at 12 pm. The tacos are alright but I would max wait 15 minutes for this. The thing probably worth getting first time is the tacos especial. I liked the smoked fish taco but I can see how the flavor could be strong for others. Bluefin tuna ceviche was alright. Nothing truly outstanding about this place. Probably would not come back again. read more

Saddest burrito there ever was. Please do better. My husband and I stopped by to grab some food to eat by the beach today. There was no line when we got there to order. We waited awhile for our food but I initially didn't mind until I saw my burrito. This was my first burrito of the year.. extremely disappointed. We also ordered their mixed ceviche which was a lot better. Flavor was good but heavily salted today. Maybe it was an off day for them today? Still, please do better. read more

Had a delightful lunch at Oscars last week. We tried the beer battered, pork and asada tacos. We also got the ceviche and everything was delicious. There isn't a ton of space, so get friendly with strangers and share a table. Having it right off the beach is so nice and everything tasted wonderful. Will be back next time! read more

We stopped by Oscar's for dinner and really enjoyed their fish tacos. The line was a bit long so we did wait about half hour to order, but it was well worth it. I ordered a grilled fish taco and smoked fish taco and both included plenty of fish. Hubs ordered a grilled fish and their Al Pastor. The grilled fish taco included cilantro and avocado. The smoked fish taco included cabbage, pico and avocado. The grilled fish taco was cooked perfectly and was super moist. It was also amazing that the tortillas never fell apart. We've found this to be the case at a few places in San Diego, such a nice surprise. read more
I wish I had an Oscar's closer to home!! Every time I visit San Diego I make sure to stop by to get some delicious seafood tacos. The shop is located on the beach and the interior has a lot of windows, giving it a classic beachy vibe to it. I always get the taco especial and the pulpo taco; the pulpo might be my favorite. Oscar's is definitely worth the hype. Their battered fish tacos are always a hit. They don't skimp on the amount of fish that they give you. The pieces of battered fish are pretty thick. All the flavors blend so well together and it tastes fresh. We also ordered the shrimp ceviche which was also delicious and tasted fresh. It comes with two tostada chips. Service was excellent. The workers moved us through the line quickly and we received our orders quickly. They have a self service sauce station where you can get however much sauce you like. There are a variety of hot sauces on each table as well. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. Seems like they have a lot of space but I'm sure it gets packed often. Parking can be a struggle as it shares parking with the beach next to it. We were able to find parking in one of the spots in front of Oscar's. read more

This place is incredible. We came for some fish tacos and were super impressed with the selection! Great for pescatarians! We got a bunch of tacos and elote and everything was amazing. The taco especial was my favorite. The server even came over and went over each taco individually so we knew we were eating the right ones. He also came over and gave us free fish stew! Ventured to this lovely and lively beach location on a sunny Sunday afternoon. My girlfriend and I loved the open windows right next to the beach, and the service was quick. We ordered beer battered fish and shrimp tacos with the mixed ceviche. These are some of the best fish tacos I've had, they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside without being too greasy. The salsa selection was fantastic, all three options impressed us and we enjoyed mixing them together. I came really excited to try the ceviche, but I was a disappointed as it was way too acidic, and the tostadas were too hard for my taste. Regardless I would certainly return after a day at the beach to get the tacos, which are excellent value for the price! read more

Absolutely must go if you are in San Diego! The line gets pretty long / feels slow but it's because they are taking orders and filling drinks/ ceviches right as you order. You only have to wait less than 10 minutes for your actual food. So don't be scared off by the line waiting to order. The octopus taco was hands down the best. So tender and great flavor. Some of the best octopus I've had. The battered fish was so crispy and the salsas were great with it. The surf and turf was probably my least favorite because the steak was a bit chewy. 3 tacos was about too much for me as they are pretty big. Horchata yummy too! Great vibe and it's just down the block from the beach! Lots of seating too. read more

I love Oscar's! The food never disappoints and it's always so delicious. The inside of the restaurant is clean and casual. I usually order to go if I'm by myself and sit by the beach since it's so close. The service is friendly and usually quick unless it's super busy. Can't wait to go back! read more

Came here after seeing all the hype about their fish tacos -- and OMG, it totally lived up to it! The staff was super friendly, the place was spotless, and the food was seriously amazing. We ordered four different tacos and a couple of drinks -- the strawberry fresca (so refreshing!) and a classic bottled Coke. While we were waiting, we noticed everyone ordering the ceviche, so of course we had to jump on that too. Then out of nowhere, one of the staff came by with fish soup samples for us! She said it was something new they were testing out -- and honestly, I hope they keep it because it was so good. Our tacos came out quick, and every single one hit the spot. My top pick was the grilled fish taco -- super flavorful and juicy. The battered fish taco was my close second -- crispy, light, and not greasy at all. My boyfriend was obsessed with the especial and the surf & turf tacos. The ceviche? So refreshing and packed with limey goodness -- perfect balance of bright and tangy. I have loved Oscars since 2015. 10 years later I'm older and wiser and well the expectations for good food are higher as well. I judge a Mexican seafood place based on how good their fish batter taco is. I do like Oscars fish taco but it could def use some improvements. This taco has too much cabbage and not only is it unnecessary but it will speed up how fast your taco gets cold. Last- the tortilla is too big for the fish taco. You need smaller tortillas. Less cabbage and smaller tortillas are a good start to a better taco. I might as well comment on the cabbage, its thick, choppy, cut it thinner, finner. I did discover their seafood stew this last visit, and well it's just lovely! And, totally worth ordering. Their fish ceviche was dry/meh. I think that's my bad because I meant to order shrimp ceviche. Which tends to be juicier and more delicious. I love how much more space they have now. A lot more tables and seating options. Quick tip for customers: the line moves slow enough that by the time you get your food you will be seating at a table. No need to save a table or freak out bc all the tables are taken before you get to order. A table will open up. read more
Let me start by saying I love oscars especially their smoked fish breakfast burrito. So good. But today I also ordered the fish stew in the morning. What came out was a cup of warm onion water with some bland seafood and cilantro floating in it. I've had the fish stew before and this was not it. If you dont have something just say it, I'll order something else it's that easy! Don't whip up some random fish onion water for me. See picture read more
