My daughter's car was towed in for an evaluation and I got a call from Rod the co-owner of RMB. Not only did he tell me what he thought was wrong with the car , but he said it in a way I could understand it, and quoted me a great price! I am an educated, professional woman, but I know nothing about cars and I am sick of auto repair places that tell you something that you can't understand and get condescending when you ask them to explain (" it's OK little lady I'll take care of it")....and dealers are cost prohibitive. When I told Rod I appreciated the fact that he explained everything in plain English that I could understand, he informed me that his wife Maria (the other half of RMB) was responsible for that. Jeff and Mike work hard to make sure they get all parts at a discounted rate so that it doesn't cost a fortune, but are just as effective, and look just as good. They went over the estimate (4500 rather than 3700), but still turned out lower than the next closest estimate (4700). I hit a deer driving down 96W, an hour from home, and car sat at a tow shop. Vision Collision has a mobile estimating service, whereas most places require you to be towed to their shop. They had a detailed estimate within a few hours, and were super friendly and helpful. Also they completed the job two days early.

I was initially told that a partial repair was sound and not hazardous. The following day, I was told they would not perform the repair due to safety concerns. I understand that a shop should refuse work it believes is unsafe, but I am extremely frustrated by the contradictory information and lack of communication. They did not explain what had changed or why they could no longer perform the repair. Instead, I had to call back, chase down the only person who could actually answer my questions, and figure out what I needed to ask. They failed to communicate when they said they would, despite knowing I was working against an insurance deadline. They also failed to have the estimate that I was told they were putting together for multiple days and had to put it together on the phone in two minutes. This put me in an incredibly stressful position and left me feeling that my time and circumstances were not being taken seriously. The shop also frequently smelled of nicotine and marijuana vape smoke during my visits, which added to my discomfort with the overall experience. Ultimately, my biggest issue is not that they refused to do a repair they considered unsafe. It is that they gave me conflicting information, failed to communicate critical details to inform my decision, and left me to chase down answers while facing a time-sensitive deadline. Based on my experience, I would be very hesitant to trust them with another repair. Another thing is he seems to have an extremely low frustration tolerance level... everybody there does. I guess that's what's to be expected when you wake up one morning and realized the American auto company you work for basically sells and manufactures foreign automobiles - and that's what we've got, a made-in-mexico Yukon. You could paint the entire vehicle to look like an American flag, it's not going to take away from the fact that it wasn't manufactured or made in America. It's a foreign automobile, thru and thru.
