I've lived in the Shoreham area & frequently have visited Osaka for hibatchi many times whether it's dine in or take out. Two of the people in my party have real allergy restrictions our server did not take any precaution to. After we received our drink orders, the lady with redish hair and glasses took our hibatchi orders. My sister explained she has an allergy to egg and my grandmother gets heart burn to onion and all 4 of us did not want any mushrooms. At other hibatchi places we never encountered an issue to customize our order by leaving certain things out. When the server got to my order all I said was that I wanted no mushrooms and everything else in the hibatchi was fine for me. She gave me the biggest attitude & asked why I can't just not get onions & the same order as my grandmother. I explained that everyone else wanted onions and it was just my grandmother with the restriction & onions are one of my favorite parts about hibatchi ?? lol . She gave me an attitude before turning away to bring our orders to the hibatchi chef. He was very nice and was checking our orders & we came to find out that she did not even put "no egg" and "no tiny bits of onion" in the rice on the order so she completely dismissed the allergies. He was extremely understanding after replacing the rice because of her lack of carelessness 2 times and said he could cook the bigger onions on the side for the rest of us so we could still enjoy them (which is what we wanted from the beginning.) The whole time I was getting looks from her & another women who was clearing out any dirty dishes all because I asked for onions in my hibatchi.... I will be sticking with Wasabi in Miller Place from now on as their service is way faster & employees way nicer! :) read more

We have been frequenting this place when we are in the area and couldn't be happier. The service is polite, fast, and efficient. The food is excellent too. We love the shrimp gyoza and shrimp shumai dumplings. Their sushi is very good also. My wife orders the shrimp fried rice every time and it never disappoints. Five stars from us. Thanks! read more

Osaka is one of many sushi/hibachi places in the Miller Place/Rocky Point/Shoreham area. My wife and I are regulars here. There are fast, accurate and tasty. There are a lot of specialty rolls to choose from; my favorite is the Dragon Roll. Service is always good and the restaurant is open until 10pm most nights. Once, my wife's chicken was a bit rubbery, but compared to the 100+ times we've gone there, it pales as complaints go. read more

Sorry but the portions and the quality of their Sushi went down hill . Not related to Cov-19 at , prices went up to . I ordered 3 Sushi Deluxe's and they where like kids meals !! They stoped with the good selection of fish and gave us all same Salmon and Mackerel. No Tina what's so ever and pieces shrunk too. I been going to Osaka for few years and even through this trial times of Pandemic. I was over charged for Sushi not even regular Combo and it was like rubber . My family of 4 came here for dinner last night & what a mistake. First our reservation was bumped because they were busy. Ok I can understand that. We arrive at the newly given time & the greeting was lackluster. I would think you would at least make us feel welcome & apologize for bumping the reservation but nope got a whole lot of nothing. The food was flavorless & sauce's felt watered down. Honestly for the pricing you should've served higher quality ingredients. The cleanliness was not to my liking the menu's were sticky and the pages stuck together. Our waitress had zero personality & just did her job. Drinks were refilled but that was it. We felt very uncomfortable trying to finish our meal because the staff were actively cleaning as if they were closing. The hours on the door stated they close at 10:30. It was 8:00. We quickly paid the bill & let. We thanked the staff & not one person replied or looked in our direction. I can spend my money elsewhere. Don't waste your time here. read more

Normally I don't post reviews unless the experience is terrible and this was one of them. Ordered sushi take out on 9/26 brought it home and found a small cockroach crawling around. Called the establishment and they instructed me to bring it all back for a refund. The girl at the counter could not be rudder she told me to take the food and throw it away out side. It's bad enough I had to come back and ruin our Sunday dinner. Her unapologetic attitude was what really got me. I told her to throw it out her self and left. read more

First time here because our regular place for sushi is closed on Tuesdays. Osaka is small, yet modern and sleek. We were seated immediately and our waitress, although very busy, was very attentive. We ordered the crab and avocado appetizer, very nice. Also ordered a very nice Bento box with tempura shrimp and all the regular sides (rice, California roll, tempura vegetables, dumplings and some delicious stir fried shrimp as well. Used to love this place but as of late, the food quality and quality has greatly diminished. They jam all the sushi you order to go in the same dish, can hardly figure out what is what, smaller portions and an attitude that they don't care. Last time I tried to order it wasn't during any type of dinner rush and they wanted me to wait over 45 minutes, they almost didn't want me to order. I then ordered from a place called Wasabi, down the road a bit and I ordered, picked up the food and was home before Osaka would have me still waiting. Wasabi was also less expensive. read more

Osaka is a gem of a sushi restaurant. The fish is extremely fresh, the sushi beautifully presented, and the servers are all lovely people. I ordered the Hawaii roll, which contained salmon, tuna, seared salmon, avocado, and seaweed salad. WOW the fish tasted incredibly fresh! I like how they put the sauce of the side instead of drowning the roll in it -- nothing to hide here! My friend got the steak hibachi. This was really fun to watch. Would recommend bringing guests and the family here, as it can be a really amusing and funny experience. Only slight quip is that the hibachi grill has to be cleaned in front of you right after the food is cooked. This is understandable, but it kind of made the eating area around us smell soapy for a while. Fried ice cream was decent. The fried exterior didn't add much to the dessert. There are an abundant sushi places new to the area and surrounding towns but Osaka stands out among them. Dine in or take out, their service and efficiency is impeccable. I've tried this place many times, I used to bring a large party in for hibachi cause it's close to home, but they are rude, so then I tried taking food to go and they don't listen even when I've told them to separate the sushi orders they are always put together in the same container then you have to figure out which one is yours, so now I go further away to better places that actually listen read more

Service is always impeccable. Friendly staff. The restaurant is spotless, so clean! We've been here a bunch of times for hibachi with the kids and each time, the food is cooked perfectly and it's delicious and the chefs are entertaining. Get take out here a couple times a month. Always perfect. Also have been here for date night a few times. The calamari appetizer is delicious - I don't know what it's breaded in but it is so yummy along with the dipping sauce. Perfection! My family loves this little spot in Shoreham. Ambiance is great, food is delicious and plenty of rolls to choose from. They also have hibachi but I havent tried that yet. Staff are nice and they usually have coupons. Now that we are in quarentine they have a fancy little takeout window set up. read more

We're definitely regulars; they always know what we're going to order, and they even deliver to us on slow nights when they can. Nicole is the sweetest server, and she's absolutely wonderful. The sushi guys are fast, clean, efficient, and nice. Presentation is always perfect as well. Coconut shrimp, tuna raviolis, shrimp yakitori, beef negemaki, paradise roll (with banana), rock n roll, crunchy spicy tuna roll, rock shrimp, avocado salad, everything. Yum. I've never had a bad thing there, everything is fantastic, and so way past "good". I also love that they use colorful soy paper for a lot of their special rolls, and don't just wrap everything in a tough piece of seaweed like other places. Their spicy mayo, eel sauce, coconut shrimp sauce, and ginger dressing are all fresh and great. Hibachi is a little sweet for me but always tasty and fresh. Every appetizer there is amazing, sushi is bomb, super yummy special rolls, edamame never overcooked, Japanese sodas are yummy, entrees, desserts, everything there is fantastic, and everything is actually better than Kotobuki for the most part. It's a lot smaller, very tiny actually, and thankfully not as well-known or crowded as Kotobuki. They do have a liquor license now, but I believe you can still BYOB if they don't have what you want. I've been here about 5 or 6 times already. Its a short 5 min drive for me which is nice. The interior is very modern and clean looking, service is quick and the staff is super nice. I always get the Kani Salad to start, and theirs is the best one I've had on Long Island. Not to much mayo and not bland. The I get either 2 specialty rolls or a specialty roll and a spicy crunchy yellowtail roll. The rolls are always a good size, not super small like Benten's, the fish always tastes fresh. I never get cooked fish so I don't know about the toaster, but I have seen many other sushi places on Long Island do that. Lastly its BOYB, which is great. I'm a beer snob and I hate how none of the sushi places around here carry good Japanese beer, just bud ripoffs, and I can bring some Hitichino which pairs beautifully with sushi. read more

We live local and this was first time for us. Clean restaurant, nice atmosphere. Service was good, attentive and timely. We sat for the hibachi lunch which was really really good! We had one Salmon Box lunch, (which was awesome with every yummy bite) Three Steak Hibachis, one Teriyaki Salmon Hibachi plus we orderd one of each ice cream for a fun ending. The steaks were cooked perfectly by our chef and the salmon was melt in your mouth perfect. We also ordered an extra side of hibachi noodles (which in MHO are the best in Suffolk). No apologies they just make you wait, this happened four times in a row. One of the times I waited for my dish until everybody in my party was just about done, no apology, nothing off the bill, no here is free desert for waiting so long. Osaka is a clean, quaint little restaurant with a cute bar and minimal seating. This wasn't to its detriment -- the size made for an intimate dining experience with attentive service. It's set to expand over the coming months, adding hibachi to its menu. My family ordered specialty rolls, and I ordered a mix of classic sushi. The dishes were presented nicely and tasted extremely fresh (I'm a harsh critic when it comes to raw fish). Highlight: J-Pop versions of Disney songs played softly as we finished our saki.
