I originally scheduled a cleaning (which i made pretty clear that's what my appointment was for) and also wanted my wisdom tooth checked since it was hurting. When I arrived, I was told they would not be doing a cleaning that day and that I would need a separate appointment so they only examined my wisdom tooth and recommended removal. After that, I was told to wait in the lobby so someone could explain the next steps for surgery. I waited around 40 minutes, and I was very patient and made it clear I was still waiting. Someone eventually came up, realized I had been waiting, and had another staff member speak with me. Even then, I waited another 10-15 minutes. When I was finally seen, the explanation was very quick (less than 5 minutes) and I did not receive any real information about how to prepare for surgery or what to expect. The staff member also seemed rushed and uninterested. On the day of surgery, I was told I had a copay of over $175 without being informed beforehand. I also explained the lack of communication from the previous visit, but it felt like that concern was ignored. I was not given any prior call or clear preparation instructions. Additionally, my medication was sent to a pharmacy I had already asked them not to use for the second time. The only positive part of my experience was the surgeon and surgical assistant, who were kind and professional during the procedure itself. I was able to see specialist Dr Lin, as I needed a root canal. He was so amazing, very gentle and explained everything that he was doing. I even got to see the X-ray they did in the room with me just sitting there. I then was able to see Dr Morales, which I needed 2 crowns. I was super sore but he was super gentle. I did have a bit of an anxiety cry. Which I felt so bad but Dr Morales, Lucio, Delilah & Angel were so kind. I got to interact with all of them. My crowns look so beautiful!! Rose in the office also was VERY neglient on calling for her crown. It should have been weeks from the time she got her root canal to the time she got her crown. NOPE. After months of pain, calling the dentist they finally made an appt and the Endodontist said her tooth was UNSAVABLE and she had to get it taken out!!!!! So she lost her permanent tooth and of course they wanted her to get an implant. Her other root canal never got a crown either. After months of waiting for it , on the day she was suppose to get her crown Upland Dental cancelled her appointment and said they could no longer see her!!! These people are the most unprofessional people/business I have ever seen. My first visit was very emotional and I was embarrassed and angry with myself for letting so much time go by without visiting the dentist. I am so grateful for Teresa, my dental hygienist who let me cry on her chair and reassured me I was not alone and it was going to be OK. I started periodontal treatment and saw instant results. I had routine cleanings every 3 months and after about 9 months when my gums were healthy again we had the conversation of braces. Not only are Dr. Ra and all the dental hygienist amazing but so is Dr. Dacker and the ortho team! They always worked around my periodontal cleanings to ensure my treatment was never compromised. It was not always easy to schedule cleanings on ortho days but they would move schedules around and do anything they could to make it happen and I am so thankful for everyone's efforts for the 2 1/2 years I had braces. Smile Studio gave me my confidence back and were always considerate of my time and budget. They offered payment plans for my braces, and worked with my insurance to avoid any financial burden. Let me put this review into context a bit - I have been to 6 different dentists and Mountain View Dental is my 7th and not all of those were horrible. In fact some were great. But not one was absolutely exceptional the way this office is. I have extremely sensitive teeth and gum recession which causes pain even when I am brushing my teeth or breathing in cold air, causing the need for a lot more patience and precision for the folks at a dental office working on my teeth. Most dentists are more concerned about patient throughput than actually taking care to not cause unnecessary pain with the extra time it takes. But not here - Dr Rivera and her staff are so gentle and comforting I almost feel like I am going to a spa. I have never felt more well cared for then at this office. They provide soft, cozy blankets, tell light hearted stories to keep my mind off the procedure, and put on good TV shows even though I am too nervous (read - uncontrollably crying from anxiety and nerves) to open my eyes to watch them. They don't shame me for this as other dentists have done - they just make it as quick and easy as possible to take good care of my teeth.
