I was recommended to go to West Coast Brace & Limb, by my orthopedic doctor. Since I had orthotics…read morealready, I was told to get them adjusted and see how I felt after. West Coast is in Palm Harbor, near my home. I walked in and told the receptionist what I needed to have done. She asked for my prescription and orthodic, then went back to the doctor. When she returned, I was told that he was with another client, being fit for a boot, but it should not be too long. She then went back to the doctor, and when she came back, informed me it would cost $50 for the adjustment. Being in extreme pain I agreed to it. She again went back to the doctor and upon her return, told me they usually deal with appointments only. I took my prescription and left. I do not like to be treated this way. I could have been told up front that they deal only with appointments, instead of being lead along wasting my time.

My 83-year-old mother has Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease. She has suffered from the pain caused…read moreby her heels curved in a 45-degree angle for well over a decade. Since she did not live in an area serviced by Westcoast Brace and Limb, she could never find anyone to fit her with the correct Ankle Foot Orthotic (AFO) or brace. That all changed when she moved to the Tampa Bay area. Making our first appointment at the Brandon office with Liz was quick. One call, one appointment. When the day arrived, we met with Walt, a Certified Orthotist. He was the real deal. My mother's condition was complicated, so he had to take his time to find a solution. As he figured out how to find the correct product to use, he called in on his colleague Juan, a certified Pedorthist (a specialist trained to modify footwear). Between the two of them, they came up with a working solution. I prayed that this time my mom might finally be able to walk without severe pain. After a few weeks, I received a call from Liz. The shoes with braces had arrived. Yajaida made sure the insurance authorizations needed were there at the time of our visit. So, that was a big relief. So, we go back to the Brandon office for her first fitting. It went well but more was needed. After a couple of weeks, all the pieces came into place, including my mother, but then came Covid, and like everyone else, we had to shelter-in-place. Ugh! Finally, we got a call to come in. Of course, the office was taking all the mandated health precautions. That reinforced my trust in the team. So, mom tried on her new shoes with braces. She stood up and smiled. Hope, I thought. I was right. She walked back and forth inside the safety of the parallel bars or, as we nicknamed them, "the catwalk." We did have a couple of follow-up visits to make slight adjustments, but thanks to Westcoast Brace and Limb, we finally had a real fix to a decade long struggle. My mom is truly comfortable, stable, and pain-free. Thank you, Mauricio Rosas

I was given the name of the Hanger Clinic by my chiropractor because I needed a huge orthotic lift…read moreplaced on my shoe. I contacted the Hanger Clinic was told I needed a referral. I went and got one from my doctor and then set up an appointment with the Hanger Clinic to get an orthotic. At my appointment Paul, one of the orthotic doctors at Hanger Clinic, did some brief measurements to confirm what both my doctor and chiropractor had said. He talked to me about the process that I needed to go through in order to get the lift put on my shoe. This included buying a pair of nicely soled shoes (New Balance worked well) and bringing them to the Hanger Clinic. The shoes would then be sent out (no in house shoe changes here) and would come back in one to two weeks. At that point we would have a followup appointment to make sure the lift evened my body out and would eventually get rid of the back pain I was having. I went out and bought a pair of work shoes and a pair of running shoes and returned that same day so that Hanger Clinic could send them off right away. Paul gave me a discount because I brought in two pairs of shoes to be lifted. This was welcome because buying the shoes and then paying to put a lift on quickly added up, so the discount alleviated some of the financial strain. When the shoes arrived, I came in for a test run. Paul took measurements again to make sure that my body was even. He ran through what I could expect, physically, over the next few weeks as I changed the position of my body. Paul then suggested that I look around at some cobblers in town to see if any of them could put a similar lift on my later pairs of shoes at a cheaper rate. Again, looking out for me to see if he could save me some additional money. I can't argue with that. I have since brought in another shoe to be lifted by the Hanger Clinic and was given yet another discount. On top of that, the original shoes that I had lifted have worked and I have been back pain free for the last five months. Oh, and for those wondering, thanks to Paul's suggestion, I did find a local cobbler willing to do the lifts for about half the cost. I have yet to try him out but will be doing so when the Hanger Clinic shoes wear out.

Very kind gentleman. He removed my shoes and socks for me and he measured my feet so I would get a great fit. This is my new diabetic shoe place.
