The lovely lady who works there gave me three prescriptions for my flu, (anti-cough, lidocain for throat pain keeping me up at night, and some ear drops) the copay was low, and I got a strep test. I'm holding off on getting a regular primary care physician until my insurance changes to Kaiser in May, so this was perfect for fulfilling my basic medical needs. I wouldn't say it was super high quality medical care, but it's two blocks away from my house and I don't have a car, and I do have the flu so it was pretty much ideal given that all I wanted was to be home in bed. Another benefit of the minute clinic is that it's just walk in walk out, and you don't spend time in a waiting room with a lot of other sick people.

Even for urgent care or emergency room visits. Today, Kaiser told me they couldn't fit me in for an urgent care appointment until Thursday (3 days from when I inquired) and the in-person walk-ins had a 4-5 hour wait. Ridiculous. Stumbled upon AFC with a quick google search and they confirmed over the phone that they take Kaiser insurance. Yay! From the get-go, they were thorough, empathetic and understanding. They addressed my issue and I didn't feel like I was bothering them like I did with Kaiser. When I checked in, it took all of 10 minutes of waiting to be seen! Can't believe I could have gone here from the start. I could have saved so much time if I didn't do the song-and-dance with Kaiser. Darren was awesome and really nice, and so was the NP who helped me! I wish I could remember her name but she was so nice (Natalia, I think?), and explained what was going on. It's awesome they explain the science behind your issue in addition to treating it. Can't thank the kind people here enough. 10/10 :) Edit: they called the next day to check in on me! That's awesome. My first visit was in Los Gatos and surgery in Capitola late last year to repair a twisted finger due to painful severe arthritis. Second surgery yesterday at the Silicon Valley Surgery Center in Los Gatos on same hand to eliminate carpal tunnel. It is a challenge to accurately relate to the reader a short version of the pain and frustration and trips to the ER for severe pain I endured since last September mainly cause by my middle finger. I am married to a retired Internal and Cardiologist and was seen by two of the top rated hand surgeons in the valley. After two shots of cortisone which was painful and did nothing long term. The second doctor told me I did not have carpal tunnel. This after two aids came in told me to close my eyes and tapped a couple of places on my hand, asked for a reaction. ( I guess I didn't give the right answer) His expert advice was to go to Stanford but not tell them I had been seen by anyone and see if they could help. Again I wish I could tell you their names. UNBELIEVABLE ! I must also add that my stress level due another health issue is moderate. So is my temperament. Going on line not only did I discover Golden State on Dardanelli Lane Los Gatos it is exactly where my husband had practiced for 60 years. After x-rays he explained the procedure and what he could do to correct my severe twisted finger. He scheduled a Peripheral Neuropathy exam which pin pointed exactly the area causing the numbness to my hand. Both my middle finger which was more invasive and slower to heal is doing well and was compromised due to the carpal tunnel. Dr. Menche is a gifted young man with a warm smile and talented surgeon. He called today to see how I was doing. I feel tip top and SO fortunate to have been his patient. Before I end my mini novel. I must say the entire staff at Golden State are over the top.
