After reading about strength training as a way to build bone instead of using prescription medication with side effects that concern me, I scheduled with Mend. Rani. got me quickly moving up in the amount of weight I could use as I had worked up a decent baseline strength. After starting with 20 pounds for presses, I'm already able to bench press 70 pounds. I quickly learned how to do the exercises on my own at a gym and can go in to see Rani after a few weeks to make the latest adjustments in the program. Deadlifts were new to me and Rani helped me work through some trepidation about the movement and I've continued to increase the amount of weight there. Within a few months I was already feeling much stronger and I'm also excited about how weight lifting has increased my metabolism. My bike riding feels stronger as I have gained strength. Rani has been very encouraging and works with me on a schedule that works for me. What a great resource Mend has been. I started with her 4 months ago when I could lift 20 pounds fearfully due to what experts told me after an injury years ago. I am now able to lift as much as 65 lb (barbell back squat) and being able to lift my grandchildren without worrying about injury is a tremendous gift. I also can now ride my bike, something I had temporarily given up. Rani was patient with my questioning concerns and ways. She keeps strength training safe, as she is very present guiding my form, which is much needed. She gradually increased my challenge level to enable me to grow in strength. It's been a couple of years since that first injury, and I still go and visit Kyle regularly as part of my body wellness program. I'm getting a little older and she helps me with aches and pains in my joints, and she gives me regular advice on how to better care for my body. Kyle has even advised me on nutrition - she knows a lot about that too. I have a goal of losing 25 pounds and she is working with me on that as well. One initial consultation with him got me significantly further than 5 years of…read moregoing to various doctors, PTs, chiros, etc. Within minutes, Mark was already explaining to me what my issues were, how to deal with them, what to avoid, what exercises to do, etc. He spoke in words that were easy to understand and even walked me through diagrams, pointing out my problem areas. The best part was, he clearly wanted to make sure I understood everything. He was so kind and helpful and I finally feel like I 1) have a grasp on what my issues are 2) understand why they are issues and 3) know what to do going forward to overcome them. They will not, by the way.
