The repair person was good at communicating, was on time, friendly, courteous and competent. The reason for the three star is because I believe they over charged for the replacing of the water valve supplying the ice maker. I had no idea what others would have charged not knowing what the issue was with the ice maker until they came out and charged a trip and a diagnostic charge, non refundable. This was applied towards the repair. I went online after the repair to see what the going rate for the ABQ area was. They are definitely at the very high end. read more

The tech had to reattach a water line to the part that directs water to the inside spigot. took 2 minutes. Cost me 258.25. - 158.25 before they would come out at all and the another 100 to the tech. I actually thought some of the prepay would go towardthe service. when i tried to talk to the office to understand the young man said there is a statewide flat rate that only repair people are privy to. I also talked to awoman who was super rude and told me to go elsewhere in the future. GuessI will. read more

The repair guy is nice enough, but it is taking a month to fix my dryer. He came yesterday to "finish" the repair then says he needs another part that is sitting in albuq. So instead of going to get it and finish the job so I can have my dryer back and not keep using a laundry mat, He says another appointment is needed a week from yesterday. At this point, people due yourselves a favor and look for someone else to repair your appliances. Yes my dryer is under warrantee so no cost to me, but this company is not organized at all and taking a month to fix a dryer is a little ridiculous. DO NOT RECOMMEND Something electronic gave out in my 2 year old washer. Called Ortega's and scheduled a week later. The guy came and behaved like I asked him to come in on his day off. He installed a part that, regardless of whether or not it fixed the problem, I had to pay for ($400+). It did not work. So then he said it's probably the control panel, but he didn't have one. Another week later he comes back, installs the part, leaves my washer unbalanced and in the corner, says it's fixed, charges me, and doesn't restack the dryer. I called right away to get him back and they say I have to wait until he has an open appt. I've had to take 3 days off work for this. The kicker is that they charged me more than a brand new one is. I called again and they seem to have no interest in making this right. Two thumbs down and I still can't use my washer or dryer, yet the "job is done." Update, the guy came back, moved my washer into the corner and showed me it was level. Problem is that he didn't leave room for the dryer piece that the lint leaves through and still wouldn't help me put the dryer back on without an extra charge. So, do not recommend. Update, got a call from Ortega's saying that the technician wrote in his notes that he didn't even install a part on the first trip he made to my house, which he did. He did, and told me it didn't work so he needed another part, but had to charge me for the 1st part since he already installed it. The customer service person that called me because of this review said that her technicians don't lie, interfering that I'm the liar. I have pictures of the install on the first day and of today. I was very pleased with recent service by Ortegas's. We had replaced most of our appliances a few years ago. Some of these items included a wall oven and a washer and dryer. The gas wall oven had problems with ignition that caused a booming sound when it lit up. The dealer tried twice to fix the issue and failed. Ortega's technician checked with the manufacture and solved the problem by making some adjustments. The dryer had stopped drying items- the drum turned but no heat. The tech - Ramone checked and a wire had burned off a connection. He made a new connection with a higher temp rated connection and the dryer works fine now. My wife and I were very pleased with the prompt and comprehensive repairs by Ramone. - I will note I am a retired general contractor and I know that appliances are not the quality units we used years ago. I had priced replacement appliances before I called Ortega's knowing it sometimes is more efficient to replace than to repair. - The wall oven and dryer were repaired at a fair price and continue to operate just fine. We will certainly use Ortega's for any future problems. I recommend them. read more

More or less, I'm happy with the service. They do charge an upfront fee. Had a wonky oven. Tech showed up and began work. Then something happened that I won't go into detail, but it was quite unacceptable (not criminal just....ick). He did fix my oven, and it still works which was a relief since I wasn't in the mood to price out new stoves/ovens, have a delivery/hookup issue (and there is ALWAYS an issue with a new purchases/delivery). After the service, I sent the manager an email detailing the "issue" and was cleared of any further charges. So, I will say, despite the unpleasant experience with the technician, the service worked for me and the owner's resolution to my experience/issue was acceptable. read more

It was very confusing to see the 5 star reviews here, because my experience with Ortega was both traumatizing and horrific. I suspect many of these other reviews are planted, since my experience mirrors almost exactly the experience that other 1 star reviews had. Ortega will take your 200 dollars, make you wait weeks for an appointment, make a meak effort to service your home and cancel at the slightest inconvenience to pocket the 200 dollars without actually doing anything. Provided below are the details of my terrifying/horrible experience with Ortega: I moved into a home in Santa Fe and the washing machine broke. The landlord had used Ortega before and he cautioned me that Ortega was complicated but that his elderly sister had used them once before. I called Ortega and spoke with Jocelyn. She was cordial but made it clear that since I lived in Santa Fe, I would have to wait weeks before the technician could come by. She immediately asked that I pay the 200-dollar service fee, which I did. There was no agreement but Jocelyn said that the 200 dollars would cover the service fee and the technician to assess the problem. In June, Jocelyn called me and asked if I would push my appointment by a few days to accommodate their "busy schedule." I agreed, but then realized the next day that the new time would not work. I called Jocelyn back the next day and told her that I would actually prefer my original time. Jocelyn then told me that they had given that appointment away (this was less than 24 hours since we last spoke) and that I would now have to wait another 2.5 weeks for a new appointment. I agreed though I requested that they contact me if anything came up sooner. I also asked that they call me before heading out to Santa Fe because I have poor reception, and she requested that I hold a 5-hour (!) time window for them. Given how busy I've been with work, I asked her to communicate with me and give me a specific timeline. Jocelyn responded that this would not be possible and that this was the way they had always done it. I never heard back from Jocelyn regarding any new times. On the day of my scheduled appointment, I stepped out to go water my neighbor's plants down the street while she was away. El Dorado has spotty service and calls don't always go through. I told Jocelyn this at least twice. For whatever reason, the technician arrived at the home and immediately called my landlord in LA. He did not immediately answer and the technician waited for approximately 23 minutes (this was based on our footage from the Ring Camera) and then left. It's not clear why the technician did not contact me directly (as instructed) or come back after his other jobs in Santa Fe. My landlord then called me and I called Jocelyn back immediately as I did not have the technician's phone number (Jocylen refused to give it to me). It was unfortunate that the technicians had to wait but this could have been avoided if Ortega had communicated with me (as requested) letting me know hwen they were coming or en route to Santa Fe and created a more realistic time window for customers-rather than requesting that customers hold 6 hours of their day for Ortega. With a full-time job, this can be difficult for many people. I called Jocelyn back and pleaded that they come back to fix the dishwasher, reminding her that I had already waited for almost two months now. Jocelyn responded coldly and with a snarl- "actually-we don't want to service you anymore" and I asked her why and she responded: "you're too complicated." Stunned, I asked if she could reimburse me for the 200 dollar service fee since no services were rendered. In addition, there was no signed agreement so Ortega had no legal claim to the 200 dollars and should have returned it immediately. Jocelyn then responded "we will not be returning the 200 dollars." When I told her that this was shocking and unethical since no service was rendered, she replied "that's what we always do." I then replied that I would share my experience with other customers on google, she stated "I don't care. You can bring this up with the owner of the company." The lack of empathy, compassion and understanding in her voice terrified me. It felt almost as if I were speaking with a robot or someone with a deep prejudice for me without having actually met me. I remained calm and hung up, stunned and feeling helpless and taken advantage of. I don't have very much money, and 200 dollars was not an insignificant sum for me. I called my landlord up in tears and he called them. Jocelyn told him the same that the owner would handle the issue. He has heard nothing from them either. Ortega's unrealistic expectation for customers to hold 6 hours of their day for an arbitrary window is an example of poor customer service where the business places the responsibility on their customers and then combined with poor management of scheduling makes Ortega the worst company I've ever dealt with read more

Washer filter needed cleaning. Ortega's asked for $130. for the service visit up front before they would even come. Once the serviceman got here, he told us it would be $231. for half an hour's work to open the front of the machine, pull the filter out, says it's fine, put it back in and put the front back on. I called the office to state that I felt this was way too much and asked what the $130. was for. I was told it was for him to simply come out and "diagnose" the problem. (obviously we didn't have a problem). We have used Ortega's for several years and have been mostly happy with them but I feel we were unfairly overcharged in this instance. read more

it took 4.5 weeks for Ortega to repair my Bosch over the range microwave at a cost of $260. they said it was due to back ordered parts. several on-line sources of Bosch parts claim to have the part in stock for less than $20 and offer next day delivery. Furthermore, Ortegas won't even come to the door unless you've paid in advance by credit card. lousy service and very unfriendly. read more

I had Ortegas come out today to fix my clothes washer. It was a gasket that sells for $49.99 at LG.com. They wanted to triple charged me for the gasket. With the gasket and labor, they wanted to charge me over $400! I told them they could leave. They still charged me $107 for the service call. I bought the gasket on eBay for $75. I pulled up a YouTube video and I will fix it myself! read more

We purchased all new appliances at a local store. The store hired contractors to remove the old appliances and install the new. The new included refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. Frankly, it was too much for the two person crew to do in one day. As a result the GE bottom freezer refrigerator and the gas stove were not properly installed. Since under warranty, we worked through GE, who set up an appointment with Ortega's. First for the refrigerator. Then later for the stove. So, first things first. We called Ortega's to narrow down the all day appointment window given us by GE. The administrator who answered the phone was friendly and easy to talk with. For our convenience, she even changed the day and specified a two hour window for our appointment. Stanley, the technician, came and leveled the refrigerator and aligned the doors. It sounds simple, but the left leveler had never been adjusted and the right leveler was all the way extended. As a result, the left door would swing open and the right would swing closed. Once he got the fridge leveled, then he had to align the doors. Perfect. Our second appointment was for the gas range, which, though level, had a front support piece that was only attached to one side. Because of this, the leg levelers were canted in -- like pigeon toed. Again GE made an appointment, the gal at Ortega's rescheduled for our convenience, and Stanley came out to fix the stove. This was a big deal. Turns out that little support trim was crucial in aligning the whole right side of the stove. It was a lynch pin support. The whole stove had to be brought, raised up, somewhat disassembled, then reassembled, then leveled. You get the idea. It was a project. Once done, the legs on the stove were straight and the stove was level. I cannot say enough for the friendly phone service and Stanley's technical skills, persistence, and determination to do the job right. read more

UNSCRUPULOUS PROFESSIONALISM When trying to get dishwasher serviced. Manager Manny was extremely rude. The repair guy sent did not do a thorough assessment, so the manufacturer was wanting to have a return diagnosis, they tried to shift blame. Fabian from front desk actually lied. I would not trust shady characters and unscrupulous professionalism. I finally went with other guys. read more

I scheduled a dryer repair and I am very pleased with the service from Ortega's. They arrived on-time, performed the repair quickly (only here 45 mins) cleaned and sanitized the area afterwards, and the dryer works great. Beats having to buy a new one! This company completely screwed us over. The first time they came they were supposed to fix the door of our dishwasher because it is dented and leaking. Scheduled the second appointment when parts arrive, and the repairman was angry and slamming things around in our kitchen, and then left our dishwasher in worse condition than when he arrived. It was functioning when he got there and completely inoperable when he left. Pieces are even missing. When I called, they said they already closed the ticket and that we needed to contact GE. Called GE and they had no record of Ortega's calling for a replacement unit. After back and forth, GE promised us a new unit and connected us with a different company to install when it arrives. Not even GE wants to refer customers to them. Customer service was terrible despite my compassionate attempts to resolve the matter. I do not recommend this company. read more

The office staff and the technician were helpful and professional. The issue with my dryer was straightforward and took all of 20 minutes to diagnose and repair. The part was about $50, and the total bill was $300. I appreciate that people need to make a living, but I feel gouged for being charged $250.00 for twenty minutes of labor. I'm glad the issue was small, but I can't imagine using them again. If it was serious, it would probably end up being less expensive to buy a whole new appliance. read more

No communication with this company guy came out Jan 6 did not know how to fix my washer said he would call in 3 days never did. Pulled my washer out scratched my wall and left it like that. 2 weeks later left message with girl said service manager will call me never did. Called again said part was on back order till Jan 29. Called on the 29 no call back. Called on feb spoke to service manager/ owner who could not do a simple thing like apologize and on top of all this said now my part is not coming in till late February. Told him all I wanted was an apology he laughed and said I don't make the parts. Asked him how he could run a business like this he laughed and said "you have choices" so I canceled his poor service. read more

When opening the door of our dishwasher, I noticed a torque-like sound coming from the base of the door. Initially, we thought it was a hinge or a loose part that needed replacement. A technician stopped by for a diagnostic and found that the "bottom panel of the tub was flimsy, causing the door to catch." He maintained that the entire dishwasher needed to be replaced but it was still functional. This dishwasher was just 3 years young. When I questioned his diagnosis, I called to speak with the owner about a second opinion, he refused to come out and stated that he would "stand by the technician." We then had a plumber friend come to check out the dishwasher and found that a small part needed to be replaced and it was very inexpensive and efficiently done. We were very disappointed with the technician's appraisal, the cost of the service charge--$97.00 (with no repair) and owner's refusal to review the situation. We would not recommend Ortega's Service to anyone. read more

The technician just left my home. He called early and said he was available if I wanted him to show up. I was unable to but appreciated that I had an option. On time and honest in what the washer needed for repair. After the intense bobby pin removal the washer sounded great. Courteous, helpful and checked the drier and all was good. The Technicians for this Company are very good and do great work! But, the Owner/Management of this Company treats Customer's very badly. In October 2018 we asked Ortega's to diagnose a problem with our Bosch washer/dryer combo...which a Tech did. We paid $150 for a Service Call at that time. A part had to be ordered to repair our appliance. We are part-time residents of SFE so we did not return to SFE (primarily because of the severe Winter weather) until June 2019. In the interim I voluntarily paid for the part. And, prior to arriving in SFE on June 13, 2019 I called Ortega's and made an appt. for June 18, 2019 for the part to be installed. Despite my efforts to be a good, responsible Customer I was charged a second trip charge of $170...because 90 days had elapsed between October 2018 and June 18, 2019. Be advised that this is Ortegas's "warranty" policy re: parts and labor. But, the appliance was not used between October 2018 and June 18, 2019; and, the October 2018 appt. was diagnostic...there was no part installed. When all was said and done I wrote to Ortegas's Customer Service and explained by dissatisfaction. I received no response. I sent a second email requesting a response and received a call from Manny at Ortega's. Bottom line: Manny asserted that his cost for a clerk to call us every 30 days (until I volunteered to pay for the part) was justification for the second $170...REALLY? He would not even meet me half way. We will be finding another Company to service our Appliance. Just another example of SFE businesses sticking it to part-time residents. read more

Just had our sub zero refrigerator fail on us right before Memorial weekend. Ortegas was outstanding as they were able to come the same day with the subzero part and fix our refrigerator for a reasonable price. Their quote was less expensive and I was a minimum of five days out from the other companies I called. I highly highly recommend this ortegas for all of your appliance needs as they're honest, family-owned and do extremely good work. read more
