Whether you're a beginner driver or someone who has been on the road for years, it can be an extremely satisfying activity. Just imagine, stepping on that gas pedal without regard for speed -- the faster you go the better. It truly is exhilarating. City Kart provides a 700-meter clean track with challenging technical turns and ramps. They use imported, professional-grade karts that make it safe to try. With the design and balance of each kart, it is physically impossible to overturn a kart. They are also big on safety so you will have a briefing on what you should and shouldn't do. Each rider is also fully garbed in the standard safety equipment which includes a track suit and a helmet. If you are one with a competitive nature, you might enjoy a fun race with friends. They have top-of-the-line monitoring systems that can be tagged with individual names and speed records. It really is a great way to spend a few hours with family and friends.

Well if you are…read morethe type of person who's favorite LOTR character is Legolas, or CW's Arrow is YOUR show, or even if Katniss Everdeen is your life peg. I'm pretty sure you think archery is pretty damn cool and it's something you've always wanted to try. Hidden away in the basement level of Makati Cinema Square you will find Kondanda Archery Range, where you can do just that. Definitely a fun activity to do with friends or even a nice unique date idea if you are looking to try something new. You get an hour of as many arrows as you can shoot! They hook you up with the equipment (bow, arrow, target, arm guard, etc.) and an instructor to help you out with the basic techniques and stuff. Then they just let you fire away and have as much fun as you can! I've already gone like three times this year. It's become my go-to activity whenever relatives from abroad come over and I wanna take them out to do something fun!

The bows are dummy proof making it super easy to line up your arrow with appropriate markers. The instructor explained everything quite thoroughly and gave great advice for good stance and form. I was a bit confused on how many whistles meant what, but after a round or two you get the gist. It's a bit of a pain to have to keep re-racking your bow, but it makes sense as it's a safety issue. I will say that I think I got worse the longer we were there haha. After 30-40 minutes my arms also did cramp up a bit, but I'm terribly out of shape so that could just be me. My only gripe is that they kept playing slow jams which really doesn't jive with archery. It'd be cool if they played something more upbeat as if we were in an action movie or something. Then I could really get into character! In all I would definitely come back. Archery is really fun and it can get quite competitive making it a great date night or just something different to do with family or friends.

Grown up kids all excited to get suited up, it was the dorkiest I've felt in a long time. They said we only had 30 minutes inside and I felt a bit bad for paying so much money for just half and hour but when you're running in the dark with a laser gun strapped to your chest, it does get pretty tiring. So the end goal is to get as many hits to your opponent's target without getting hit yourself. Each vest is equipped with a sensor that you should aim at, when you're hit, your gun temporarily shuts down and you'd have to wait until it's turned on again. I was a girly girl growing up so you can imagine the struggle I had aiming at boys running at lighting speed. But it's all good fun and even if I finished last on several occasions, yes we've been here more than once, it's a great place to blow off steam and burn off a few calories.

This place gives you the opportunity to release stress, have fun and exercise at the same time. I got to experience Lazer Maxx with some officemates for a team building activity and it's been a very memorable experience. You will be divided into two teams and you each have a gun or what they call phasors. You will also wear a vest with sensors on it that your opponents will try to hit with their lazer and different points are given based on the location of the target that you hit. Sorry but no headshots here. They assign you a cool code name like Achilles or Perseus so you can keep track of your own score. Once everyone is ready then they release you in their arena. And then all hell breaks loose. I mean, you are in this dark arena with guys shooting lazers at you and you're trying to shoot back and you're trying to take cover while a comrade is asking for cover. The game is so frantic that the fifteen minute game play seemed like an hour for me. I exited the arena sweating and panting like I just ran a marathon. So yes, bring an extra shirt if you can. There are some things that I find interesting in this experience. For one, this is a game of wits. There are holes in hiding places that you can exploit to gain advantage over your opponent. It's fun to just go crazy and shoot at everything that moves but you'll just end up getting shot more by the other team. Strategies are needed. Plan the position of your team and make sure that someone covers your back at all times. On a side note, the game brings out hidden personalities and you get to see peolple for who they really are.The cute, prim and proper girl in the office is suddenly shooting wildly like a homicidal maniac who just drank a gallon of Red Bull. You also get a glimpse of who has a hidden angst against the boss, the one who has his target on your manager at the onset of the game. Or the one who keeps on "accidentally" hitting you even though you're on the same team. This is one of the most fun experience I've had. Your calves will be aching afterwards along with other muscles you didn't even know existed but it will definitely be worth it.

Outbreak Manila has taken place in various locations to fit the zombie theme, including the outskirts of Nuvali (for that isolated wilderness feel), an empty amusement park (Enchanted Kingdom at night), and the historical walls of Intramuros (My favorite! Intramuros gave it an extra creepy atmosphere). They also hire professional actors and hosts to dress up in military attire and get the audience into the Zombie Apocalypse atmosphere. Don't worry though, no one actually gets bitten! Contact is strictly forbidden in Outbreak Manila. Runners have 3 red flags attached to a belt around their waist which signifies their health. The zombies pull these from the runners when they "attack", so it's basically a glorified patintero game with guys in zombie makeup. When your red flags are all gone that means you're dead, but you can still finish the run - you just don't get the bragging rights that you survived. Fast runners that finish within the top 40 get a medal. Recent Outbreak runs have taken the game forward and included some role-playing elements into it, like certain objectives for the runners, recurring characters, and continuing storylines. You're also encouraged to come in costume too! I've seen people run in full airsoft gear, bathrobes, office attire, historical costumes, and even a group dressed up as plants (Plants versus Zombies, hehehe!). This is definitely a fun run unlike any other! :)

I'm not too sure about their speed though because the karts that we had in the good old days were pretty fast themselves. The principle remains the same. Gas fed engines power the karts which for all intents are like small cars, but much lower. Today's kart enthusiasts are lucky that there's CityKart Racing in Makati, where the old Sta Ana race track used to stand and which is now being developed by the Ayalas into the next big commercial/residential center. In the meantime, the race track of the karts is pretty decent. My kids have gotten the karting bug for the same reason that I had it in my teen years. It's fun and feels like being on a Formula One race, but only safer. There's something about being so close to the ground traveling at relatively high speed that gets the adrenaline going. Karting can be a terrific barkada or family activity. I don't know what the plans are for the area the track now occupies, but I hope they can keep the fun activity going for years to come.

Its a bit expensive but all worth the fun. You would probably spend about Php1,000 per heat but getting through this circuit is already a good challenge. Its fun to do go karting as a cool date, bonding with friends and family, and even team building for companies and groups. If you want to take it more seriously and you're stoked from the rush of it all, they also offer some classes at their racing school and the price is all inclusive of the rental of the kart. If I had the time and money to spend on racing everyday, I think I would! Its not only thrilling but mentally challenging because you have to focus a lot and be able to make quick gauges and decisions in just a matter of seconds. Its really cool we have something like this close to where I live because its something fun and different you can do if you want to veer away from the usual eat, drink, shop scene in Makati!
