WaterCamp Resort - The adult slides (fun, but don't expect too much from it ha)

We had our (una at) huling hirit sa tag-init at WaterCamp Resort in Kawit, Cavite. The place was okay, it was a big waterpark (I like saying that word because it reminds me of the movie Grown Ups) with adult and kiddie pools with slides, and a wave pool. The shower rooms were clean and relatively well-maintained considering there are a lot of people coming there. Guests can choose to stay in tables or cabanas according to their budget and there are several areas for grilling, so families can definitely bring their baon, or order from the restaurant inside (which I wasn't able to try, unfortunately). I liked that the place is very family-friendly; it's ok to swim in t-shirt and shorts (as long as there's no metal) and they're very strict about prohibiting alcoholic drinks in the vicinity. I had a slight issue about breastfeeding my four-month old baby in the cabana, but I'm pretty much used to nursing in public by now. The entrance fee was reasonable (240 for adults, 210 for kids) for the place is big with lots of amenities. My daughter had the BEST time swimming there. She just swam and swam until she was too tired and fell asleep. She was so happy that I think an hour drive going to the place is absolutely worth it.

It's something different versus boring and repetitive movements you'll do at a regular gym. There's a class that starts every hour and newbies are welcome to join. Get your first session free! Just a tip, call in advance to check if you can avail your trial class. Applying circuit training in the routine, your body will be gasping for energy during 45 minutes of what-did-I-get-myself-into and charged fits of Spartan brawn! Bring a towel and a bottle of water. It's perfectly located along Aguirre aka BF foodie haven so reward yourself with a perfect post workout meal.

But more than just those things, I felt awful. I was slow, I slept poorly and overall felt so unhealthy. I felt like I needed to make a switch to another form of exercise that would have me back to where I was years ago. I needed to find my own drill sergeant, someone that would make me do rounds of painful exercise and see to it that I finish strong. Aware that I was too hard-headed for my own good, I headed to Hit Arena with no idea about what they would make me do. After 30 minutes, I was severely hit. There is nothing sweet about this type of workout and the instructors don't tell you that it will be easy. In fact, they tell you that it will be difficult but once you understand the motions of this high intensity workout and see the effects on your body you'll soon know why they don't take it easy on you. It's go hard, rest briefly and go hard again type of training captured in 3 but very short brutal workouts. The instructors explain to you things that you already know but tend to forget such as why donuts are bad and make you experience why they are bad based on the number of burpees they will make you do to counteract all that evil sugar. It's a great workout for those who want to get serious at being fit and for others in dire need of some Spartan training.

I'm not too sure about their speed though because the karts that we had in the good old days were pretty fast themselves. The principle remains the same. Gas fed engines power the karts which for all intents are like small cars, but much lower. Today's kart enthusiasts are lucky that there's CityKart Racing in Makati, where the old Sta Ana race track used to stand and which is now being developed by the Ayalas into the next big commercial/residential center. In the meantime, the race track of the karts is pretty decent. My kids have gotten the karting bug for the same reason that I had it in my teen years. It's fun and feels like being on a Formula One race, but only safer. There's something about being so close to the ground traveling at relatively high speed that gets the adrenaline going. Karting can be a terrific barkada or family activity. I don't know what the plans are for the area the track now occupies, but I hope they can keep the fun activity going for years to come.

Its a bit expensive but all worth the fun. You would probably spend about Php1,000 per heat but getting through this circuit is already a good challenge. Its fun to do go karting as a cool date, bonding with friends and family, and even team building for companies and groups. If you want to take it more seriously and you're stoked from the rush of it all, they also offer some classes at their racing school and the price is all inclusive of the rental of the kart. If I had the time and money to spend on racing everyday, I think I would! Its not only thrilling but mentally challenging because you have to focus a lot and be able to make quick gauges and decisions in just a matter of seconds. Its really cool we have something like this close to where I live because its something fun and different you can do if you want to veer away from the usual eat, drink, shop scene in Makati!

Facing the field is a complete bar set-up where you can hang out and watch some sports on a flat screen, or live on the field. Their food is also really good, I've tried a bunch of their dishes, and a lot of them have had the pleasure of following me to my dreams at night. (Aside from the field, they also have other sports facilities like the gym, a lap pool, badminton court, tennis courts, squash court, and others I haven't yet explored.)

Non-participants get to walk around the facility, as well as the Shrek House and Madagascar areas. Basically a cheaper chaperone ticket for the adults that are accompanying the children. You can also upgrade from your ticket at any time if you decide you want to take part in the fun. There's also a VIP pass for 2999 pesos which includes a meal (food, drink, and ice cream) and the ability to skip the line. Although when we went there weren't really many lines for anything so I'm not sure if it's worth it. We only got non-participant tickets just to take a look around but even that was pretty fun. The facility is well designed and well maintained it feels like a legitimate theme park. Even just walking around the themed areas was entertaining and there were various activities scattered around. We got lots of cute pictures and even got a pic with Alex the lion from Madagascar. Although we didn't try any of the attractions they also looked like a ton of fun for kids. It includes things like ropes course, cooking class, theater, and lots of games. DreamPlay is definitely a place to check out if you've got children, especially if they're a big Dreamworks fan!
