I've started secretly referring to this gym as my home away from home; every time I return to the south for the weekend from college in QC, I go here before my actual house.
I stumbled upon HIT Arena one weekend when looking for somewhere to learn muay thai. The first gym I had in mind didn't have a schedule that suit me, so thank god I found this. It's practically everything you'd want out of a gym: clean and well-lit, the front area where the TRX and HIIT classes are held opens to a balcony so there's always a breeze, friendly receptionist and trainers, and the only place that actually smells like sweat is the cabinet where the yoga mats and shin guards are hidden. Bonus points for the bathroom always having tissue and soap - the only feature missing is an actual shower. Not bad. And although it's one of the smaller gyms I've seen, the equipment is as complete as it gets. Probably. I'm not sure. I don't spend any time on the chin up bars or swinging kettle balls around on the mats. My classes are in the little back studio, which would definitely benefit from the addition of an electric fan. But I don't really mind since the floor is fairly clean and the bags don't look like they'll fall down after one kick. There are shelves in the studio for your stuff, and rentable lockers near the bathrooms if you want something more secure.
(Pro tip: do not sit on the floor if you've already started your workout. You'll make an embarrassingly sweaty puddle.)
Final verdict: I love the vibe of this gym. Rarely do I become so attached to a place...and to think I found this place purely by chance. read more
