I saw some reviews which seemed like people just wanted to hate so here's an honest review: - I've been here when it's packed and I smell nothing I always see people cleaning and wiping when I visit. - I've been here at 4am and there were two employees there so I felt safe enough. - as for gym bag I always carry it with me. I wouldn't trust leaving it on an open rack. For the Philippines working out anytime you want is quite difficult but not anymore! - this is one of the first main stream 24/7 gyms in the Philippines There equipment is top notch. They have : - bosu balls - boxing bags - trx - foam rollers - elliptical - stair master - bikes - yoga room - classes - bench press - free weights And much more What's cool about this gym is that if you sign up for this gym you're allowed to go to any anytime fitness gym around the world. Which is perfect for me because I travel a lot Some gyms can get pricey especially in BGC also not many gyms are open 24/7 especially for the price so this is really the best option for me

But being in advertising makes that a bit more difficult given the long and late hours I spend at work. I try to wake up early to sneak-in a workout session (I can already hear Yoda saying - -"Do or do not. There is no try.") but my nightly overtime keeps on shooting that horse in the face. It's gotten so bad that sometimes the only workout I get in a week is hopping around the conference room on a pogo stick during brainstorming (which is actually fun, but I digress...) I've been a member of two gyms already in my 15-year quest for abs and I usually encounter the same problem - -I don't get to maximize my gym membership because of operating hours. But that's about to change thanks to Anytime Fitness High Street - -one of 2,900 Anytime Fitness gyms around the world that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - -in short my kind of gym. With my previous gym membership expired, I was on a lookout for a new gym that operated until later hours. While searching online I found out that Anytime Fitness BGC High Street branch was already open. Excited, I rushed to visit on the same day, just to inquire initially but I found myself walking out a member. Signing up was so easy, and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. If you plan to pay for your monthly dues via credit card you're initial cash out on the spot would only be P3, 500 - -P1, 000 for the joining fee and P2, 500 for your very own Key FOB - -which gives you 24-hour access to the gym (and if you've been a member for a month, 24-hour access to all other Anytime Fitness branches worldwide). The gym is clean, it has all the equipment you need to get in shape and is even set up in a way that allows you to do HIIT workouts and even circuit training if that's what you fancy. And if you're very particular about bathrooms/locker rooms the gym offers you private bathrooms each made for individual use --complete with shower and toilet (yay privacy!) Now I get to work out anytime I can. So while everyone is out at midnight or at home asleep, you'd probably find me at Anytime Fitness Hight Street running on the treadmill, swinging some kettle balls, or doing a few burpees. Now that's fitness in your own time.

It's something different versus boring and repetitive movements you'll do at a regular gym. There's a class that starts every hour and newbies are welcome to join. Get your first session free! Applying circuit training in the routine, your body will be gasping for energy during 45 minutes of what-did-I-get-myself-into and charged fits of Spartan brawn! Bring a towel and a bottle of water. But more than just those things, I felt awful. I was slow, I slept poorly and overall felt so unhealthy. I felt like I needed to make a switch to another form of exercise that would have me back to where I was years ago. I needed to find my own drill sergeant, someone that would make me do rounds of painful exercise and see to it that I finish strong. Aware that I was too hard-headed for my own good, I headed to Hit Arena with no idea about what they would make me do. After 30 minutes, I was severely hit. There is nothing sweet about this type of workout and the instructors don't tell you that it will be easy. In fact, they tell you that it will be difficult but once you understand the motions of this high intensity workout and see the effects on your body you'll soon know why they don't take it easy on you. It's go hard, rest briefly and go hard again type of training captured in 3 but very short brutal workouts. The instructors explain to you things that you already know but tend to forget such as why donuts are bad and make you experience why they are bad based on the number of burpees they will make you do to counteract all that evil sugar. It's a great workout for those who want to get serious at being fit and for others in dire need of some Spartan training.

That incident gave me a little bit of a trauma, and I felt helpless and defenseless for a while. I posted about it on my Facebook, and then days later, I got an invite to a self-defense class that was organized by a friend's mom. It turns out that friend was almost abducted by a gang while she was heading to her car in a parking garage. These are scary times that we are living in, and it is always a comfort to be able to rest in the fact that you know how to defend yourself in case ill fortune has it that you will encounter bad forces in this rather gritty city of ours. The self defense class that I attended was taught by the members of IKMF. I had karate when I was little, but that was about it. I was glad that IKMF taught basics, and in that two-hour class, I was able to learn a lot about the basics of safety and self defense. I appreciated the fact that they taught us to read the situation and not get into defense mode if you clearly can't overpower your attacker. Krav maga, the Israeli martial art and self defense discipline is wonderful in that it uses your body's natural instincts as a foundation for defending yourself during an attack. Basically, they have developed it in a way that it weaponizes your primal reactions to certain stimuli. In a span of two hours, the IKMF staff taught the class the basics of blocking and self-defense when attacked from different approaches. I don't ever hope to get mugged or attacked in the streets again, but at least now I know how to keep myself relatively safe just in case. I strongly urge everyone, especially women to take at least a basic self-defense course because you can never be too complacent. IKMF's basic class is enjoyable and fun, and you don't even have to have a background in any sport or martial art. It is also good exercise, and the IKMF staff can help you if you want to make a hobby or a sport out of it.

After some research, he discovered a fitness center just a walking distance from here (FTX Gym) that offers Krav Maga classes. Well, when he asked my opinion, the only think I knew about it is that it's an israeli self-defense technique. I had no idea it was possible to practice it inside a fitness center, so we both got curious and excited about that. The fact the classes are offered by the International Krav Maga Federation in the Philippines made us even more confident about the instructor's competence. Krav Maga is actually one of the most effective self-defense system offered today. It was originally created for military purposes in the early 50's and nowadays provides self-defense solutions also for the civil sector. Hubby enrolled in the class and practiced it for one month. He just quit it when our baby was born, but he intends to return as soon as possible. What I could notice is that Krav Maga training is never-ending and constantly improving. He told me classes are really amazing. First the instructor teach a set of self-defense tools and hen you're invited to put it in practice with your fellow classmates. Besides being an excellent technique to protect yourself, it's an awesome working out session as well. And the best part of it: instructors have always in mind that safety comes first!

Occasionally I'd still come here for special events. I came today because it was the only Fitness First gym I know open on Christmas day. The last time I was here was May 2015 so let's see if anything's changed. AIR-CONDITIONING/VENTILATION I remember writing on the club's complaint form a year ago because air conditioning was very bad. So bad that a lot of people would be leaving group classes especially RPM/cycling because it gets too warm in some parts of the room. But now it's very cold that I was shivering in the locker room. EQUIPMENT The tricep rope thing that attaches to the cable machine smells! Other machines were fine. Glad to see 2 preacher curl benches (gone in FF RCBC). Not all the workout benches used for the BodyStep class have the rubber that grips the floor! While they might be safe to use for BodyPump, be careful not to use them in Step classes. Bikes for RPM/Cycling are new-ish, can't complain about them. Yoga mats didn't smell bad. CLASSES I attended Crunch's BodyAttack and Ahlee's BodyStep class. Love both classes and teachers! It was my first time with Crunch who I think is one of the manager of the club. I kinda like the class atmosphere in this club, everyone's just doing their best to workout plus they seem to be enjoying what they're doing.
