Where do I start? From the minute I talked to Paul on the phone I knew he was the one for us! A couple of days later he came to our home and met our Lily and Putter. He was able to observe their behavior and talk to us about different plans. Not only did he we feel confident in what he was talking about but we felt his compassion and devotion towards our babies. This is definitely not just a job for him but a passion. We opted to board and train both of them. Lily is our 3 year old. She WAS completely out of control. Lily had become quite aggressive and many times we couldn't even walk past her without her growling and jumping at us. I had been bitten by Lily a few times just putting her harness on her (drew blood once). Outside walking her had become more than a chore. She would jump on anyone that came near us and then started barking and showing aggression towards outsiders as well. Lily was in full control of our home and lives. I was at my end. Putter is our 2 year old. I was not planning on getting any training for Putter until my husband suggested it. Putter's issues WERE his walking me and showing aggression towards any other animals. My dog now walks confidently on a leash through crowded parks around other dogs, joggers, strangers just inches away from him without any reactivity. I am able to have people over and use the "place" command to allow my dog and guests to peacefully coexist. Scamp is also reliable off-leash which is an incredible bonus! We had a new puppy and no serious behavior issues other than the typical challenges of her wanting us to chase her, pulling on the leash and having to have way more patience in training her at home that we had time for in our lives. Someone suggested that I consider Paul and after a conversation with him on the phone we decided to make the investment in this type of training for 2 weeks. Our thinking was that although we would really miss our pup for those two weeks (and we did!), having many years of enjoyment of a much more well behaved and happier dog would be worth it. I would HIGHLY recommend Orlando Dog Wizard to anyone who is looking for training. My dog, Maverick, had separation anxiety and we had tried nearly everything everyone was telling us (even other dog trainers) and nothing seemed to work.. he still did NOT want to be left alone, until we found ODW. We had three continuous weeks of training, but after those three weeks, training wasn't just finished and ODW went in his direction and I went in mine. Patrick continued to come to our house, check on Maverick, and make sure he was still progressing. If I ever need anything, ODW will be there for us and wont give up on Maverick - and that's the important thing. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG (S) HERE! I found the Orlando Dog Wizard, Patrick Shackleford, in February 2017. I looked up his reviews on Facebook, Instagram and The Dog Wizard franchise website. I called and asked questions, I made a consultation appointment, in my home, He came out and spent two hours with myself, my son and our 6 yr old chihuahua, Ziggy. He seemed reliable and Ziggy was walking with him on a leash, with a leash muzzle and was listening to basic sit commands. Patrick offered two packages for obedience training. One in home and one at his residence, boarding Ziggy while training him. I chose the boarding training as I had read great "5 star" reviews, watched posted videos from prior clients and the consultation went well. Ziggy went with him that day, for what was to be 14 days. I texted asking how Ziggy was doing and always got a text back saying he was doing "good, relaxing, learning a new environment...doing great, etc." Patrick posted a picture of Ziggy on Facebook and he looked fine; however, that changed drastically over the following days. On March 1 (10 days at training) Patrick called me at about 10am and said he found Ziggy, at 7am, in his crate, non responsive and in his urine. His wife and three little girls ( ages 5 and under) took Ziggy to Tuskawilla Animal Hospital. When I got to the vet, about 30 minutes later, Ziggy was almost dead!! He lost half of his body weight ( from 6 pounds to 3 pounds) he could not move at all, he could only move his eyes to look at me. He was cold to my touch, the vet said his temp was only 90 when he was brought in ( the vet said she had NEVER seen a dog with a temp that low, in all of her years of practice), he was malnourished, bruised on his chest, legs and paws. Xrays showed he had no broken bones, no collapsed lung, and also showed no food in his stomach or intestines. Ziggy had blood work done and the vet determined there was no biochemical reason for him to be in this condition. Her diagnosis was starvation and trauma. Patrick continues to say Ziggy was happy, healthy, eating and drinking and going for walks up until the night before he was found non responsive in his crate. This is not possible! Patrick also said he didn't take my dog to the animal hospital himself because he "had other dogs to pick up" so Ziggy's life didn't matter to him, in my opinion. Ziggy spent 3 days in the animal hospital, fighting for his life ( the vet told me she did not think he was going to live), he made it out and has physically recovered. But Ziggy and my family is forever changed. Ziggy is completely afraid of people now, except his family. He does not like to be outside now. He eats as if he is still starving, gulping his food down most of time, he is afraid of small sounds around the house.. this was very traumatizing. I filed a complaint for animal cruelty with the sheriff, but could not "prove" Patrick harmed Ziggy, I then got an attorney who said the same thing and that I could send a demand letter for payment only of vet bills. Patrick paid me the vet bills a month later. He originally said his insurance was handling a claim, but then said he did not have the "endorsements" he needed so he would have to pay out of pocket. So I am left with my poor Ziggy, forever traumatized and had to resort to doing online reviews. Please pass this around, if you can. As the vet, sheriff, lawyer and myself have said since this nightmare started..Patrick should NEVER be around another dog again to abuse them the way he did Ziggy. I can not say enough good things about the Orlando Dog Wizard. Our dog Sheldon has had a host of issues since we rescued him from an abusive situation. My experience with the Orlando Dog Wizard has been exceptional! I brought my dog Comet to this trainer because she began developing aggressive responses to new dogs after we moved to Orlando. We used to live in an area where I could manage her behavior with lots of exercise, but this year she has been cooped up a lot more. It became really hard to control Comet off leash and her reactions to new dogs were getting out of control. Before working with the Dog Wizard we had to stop going to the dog park and I was constantly afraid that if she got out of the house she would terrorize my neighbors or their pups. Now she is extremely responsive and obedient both on and off the leash. She will lay down while other dogs walk around her and she doesn't move as they sniff her to say hello.
