If I could give this a zero star review I would. I do not feel this business deserves even one star. I am writing this to let other consumers know that they should stay away from Origins Granite (Cranberry Twp. store).
It started this past January, 2015, when I went to the showroom and met Ashley who is a designer. She helped me pick a granite I liked for a countertop from the samples she had. The cost was $3,500 after everything was added. Since I had not had a new counter top for 16 years, this seemed expensive yet I was excited to have my kitchen look newer. We thought about it for a while, went back, and placed the order. Ashley said they do not lay the granite until they have full payment. This was worrisome, but we did it against our better judgement. We had not heard back from Ashley for some time, so I called her. You never know who is going to answer when you call the store. It is nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone. They send you to voicemail and do not call back. After many tries, I was able to get an install date. We heard from Bob Stoffer, manager. After the original install date was cancelled, by Origins Granite, my husband was able to come home to be there during installation. I looked at the countertop when it was almost completely installed when I returned home from work and thought that it looked different than the one I had picked out in the showroom.
The next morning I looked at it and knew that I had not gotten the correct granite. I called Ashley, who did not call back. So, I went out to the showroom and spoke with Ashley. I took the granite cutting board that I received along with me to the showroom. The cutting board had sticker with the name of the granite- Giallo Verona which is a greenish gray in color. The granite I purchased was Giallo Amarillo- brown and tan in color. She tried to say they were the same, just a change in the name. I took the sample display off the wall in the show room and set them side by side. It was apparent they were not the same. She stood there with a straight face and lied to me saying "I understand, I understand." I left knowing that her explanation was not good enough.
The next day I went back to the Cranberry showroom and there was Bob Stoffer, filling in for Ashley. Ashley had since gone on vacation. I told Bob what had happened, and he said he would straighten it out. After one cancellation by Bob, Bob did stop over at my house to look at the granite. He took multiple pictures, and he admitted they were two different granites. He told me that the granite I had chosen in the showroom should never have been sold to me because it had in fact been discontinued. He called and spoke to Peter, the owner. He went outside to make that phone call, so I do not know what was said. Bob also said that Ashley never came back from her vacation. Bob told me that they had a few samples that I might like in the original color that I had picked. Bob was showing me these new samples because it was discussed that the original granite that was placed in my home would be taken out and replaced with one more similar to the one I had first picked in the show room. He told me he would drop the samples off.
After several days and many text messages later to Bob, he finally dropped off two samples on my front porch. I have contacted Bob twice in the last two weeks to tell him I had chosen a new granite and he has not responded back to my texts. Now, I have granite I did not order that I spent $3,500 on, two granite samples, and text messages that do not get answered. I know not to call the store because you get sent to voicemail and no one ever calls back.
In my 59 years, I have NEVER experienced this poor of service from any business. I am also contacting the Better Business Bureau. I doubt this is just the Cranberry store. I believe it is the lack of honesty and integrity in the owner and those who we have been in direct contact with.
I have already spread the word and have already stopped at least two other potential customers from going to Origins Granite. I thought Bob could be counted on to solve this, but I don't think so. I would love to hear back from others who have experienced the same sort of issues with this company. There may be something more that can be done in numbers if more people come forward. My husband and I did sign a contract which was not fulfilled and we are looking to take further action. We believe that this is a breech in contract. Also, it is the principle. We should get what we paid for and what we have wanted for a very long time. read more
