I came to this store after just having moved to Los Angeles, super excited to decorate my house with non ikea stuff. I was not very experienced with furniture buying at more expensive stores.
It was the first time I bought such big ticket items and I was hesitant about buying stuff from orientalism because I was not sure if I would like the way it would look in my house. The store owner led me to believe that if I didn't like the stuff, "we would find a way to make me happy". When I took the furniture home and quickly realized I was not happy with it, I called them the next day to find the store owner treating me in a completely different way.
He told me that it was my problem, not theirs that I didn't like the stuff and that they did not, quote, put a gun against my head to buy them. I agree, but I was surprised they never offered me the option of a "memo," where you take the furniture home for 24 hours to try it out. When I told them I was never informed of this option, the co-owner / his wife said that it was not her job to inform me about these things and that I should have figured this out on my own.
When they said we will make sure you are happy with your purchase, I was not expecting to be kicked out of the store for not letting them run their business. I am disturbed by how rude they were to me. read more
