This store wins 5 stars on customer service! I called Friday last afternoon and inquired on a specific item I'm looking for and was lucky to speak with Jose. Not only did he chat with me for a few minutes on what I was looking for but then emailed me photos of things he thought might fit the bill. Now that's what I'm talking about!!! So all the customer service that has gone from every chain store - this is where it ended up... Who knew! Jose was very up front with me that his pieces were probably out of my price range but that did not stop him from helping anyway and he might just get a customer outta me yet. I did visit the store the next day just because of his kind treatment of me on the phone and it was a lovely store. I've got my eye on a piece that if it is still there after I save more; I might get it or at the very least I have a new option for any future pieces. Well, first of all, this place bares my name, so I'm partial to it, but above that, it's an amazing Zen place where you can find all kinds of pillows, furniture, silk pieces and trinkets. I was looking for floor pillows to put on my sofa for the back and found the perfect ones there. The colors are vibrant and so full of life. I loved the music! Don't buy any lamp with the little beads on them,the beads keep falling off. I paid over $ 200 dollars for the lamp and nothing should be falling off. There's lot of other great lamps in the store. The sales guy was very nice.I still would shop at the store but the beads are still dropping off. read more

I used to frequent this store when it was on Melrose and I recently purchased some pillow covers and bolster pillows. This is a great store if you are going for Indian, Moroccan, or Chinese decor but it can be a bit pricey. What prevents me from giving Tara Design a 5 stars is that most items in the store do not have a price tag. Therefore, when you are told a price and told you are given a discount, you truly don't have a reference point and this comes across as deceptive. Nonetheless, I will be back when I need some more items. read more

Love this place!! The furniture is exactly what I am looking for which is a problem whenever I go there and feel the need to hand over my entire savings. We bought a stunning carved daybed/couch and I am still in love, several months later. Larissa is a dream. She is so honest, nice and helpful. I can in knowing that I wanted to purchase some floor pillows so I could create a peaceful place to meditate and serve tea. I was blown away at the quality and range of their Bedouin, Moroccan, Tibetan, Indonesian and Indian style imports. I met Larissa and we went to work. She listened to my ideas and together we laid a new space out in the parking lot. Rugs, pillows, color options, tables - we went through quite a few iterations. I ended up getting an amazing setup and felt like I got a free interior design consultation as well. I come home and am inspired by my new arrangement. Best. Customer. Service. Ever. Jose has been AMAZING to work with. I ordered a Jhula Daybed (gorgeous, btw) to have it shipped to me 2 states away. First the shipping company apparently forgot to pick it up, so Jose tracked them down, got them to come back, updated me on what was going on, and made sure I could track the shipment. It arrived broken. Jose, the delivery guy, and I were all appalled at the condition. He spent the next full day twisting every arm he could find at the shipping company until they agreed to air freight me a replacement. He kept me updated every step and made sure I didn't get charged for the air freight. So my daybed got on a plane from California and arrived the next business day at my doorstep... even more broken than the previous one. The same delivery guy photoed all the damage, called it in, and then came up to my place and showed me -- I didn't have to fight with them, and he'd already taken care of the paperwork. I called Jose and he told me it had become his personal mission to make sure I got my daybed. (Of course he offered, alternatively, an immediate full refund.. but you're just not going to find a piece of furniture like that at Crate & Barrel.) Since they were now fresh out of Jhulas, he actually found someone else who had one available, and they are actually *driving* it to me, making sure to arrive around my travel schedule. So, negative five stars for the shipping company, positive five stars for the delivery guy, and eight million stars for Jose. read more

This is my favorite place ! I get so excited whenever I go there and each time i find more things that I am fascinated with and drawn to. The store is filled with treasures of all kinds -and everything is top notch quality. It's a fun-filled colorful adventure every time I set foot inside and Jose, one of the owners, is one of my favorite people on the planet. I always find exactly what I am looking for - and more. So many pieces there speak to my soul and if I could -and one day I will (!) - I would decorate my whole house from Tara. I find it to be a very magickal place, with a vast array of exotic choices in their colorful selection of high quality pillow covers and curtains, to beautifully carved statues and finely detailed, painted and/or carved furniture items. I just brought home a 3' Tara statue that I had been eye-ing for some time. It is magnificent and has significantly altered the whole tone of my living space. It was definitely the highest priced item I have purchased in the store (or elsewhere), but I see it as an investment in which the value never depreciates and I get to have some of the wonderful Tara energy in my home every day. A wonderful place! Beautiful unique exotic pieces that would cost five times as much in the designer stores. Furniture and wonderful textiles and accessories from China, India, all over Asia. Wonderful woods, and amazing colors--it's like Aladdin's cave! I bought a Chinese "wedding-type" bed that I love...for the same money as standard stuff from a tacky furniture store.
