Offers a really varied menu but every thing that came was over fried and kind of greasy.

Including the desserts. I loved it so much that I excitedly tweeted to them that I would singlehandedly keep a restaurant open in Brighton. And they replied to me telling me to wait. Well... the wait is over! Today I was invited to the opening of the new Leon Restaurant in Brighton which replaces Eat. I think this is a brilliant swap as Eat was far too similar to its neighbour Pret. But Leon is quite different in that it offers warm, hearty food. Setting up just before winter is also probably a good move. The decor is really nice and chilled out. They make good use of the space which I've previously found a bit dark and claustrophobic. Katy and I were greeted by some of the nice workers at Leon and told we could each choose a meal and drink to have on the house. We both went for the Moroccan Meatballs (on my recommendation). I had a lemonade to drink and Katy went for a green smoothie. We also picked up a few sweet treats: my favourite lemon and ginger slice and a billionaire shortbread for Katy. The meatballs are my favourite so I knew I would like them, but Katy had never been to a Leon and she loved it as well. She began talking about how close it is to her work and how she will be able to pop in on breaks for a relatively healthy and warm meal. We also tried searching for the menu online and a sneaky link to Deliveroo popped up. So we're hoping they're going to be one of our delivery options soon.

Saffrons: Saffrons…read moreis one of my favourite Indian restaurants that I've come across in Brighton. It's fairly new and I feel the interior has a great sense of style with pleasant shades of blue and calming lighting. The main thing I have to brag about this restaurant is the food. I can be quite particular about my Indian food and I have to say the taste and quality of Saffrons is fabulous! I ordered a chicken korma and thought it tasted delicious; creamy and rich but with the right texture to really taste the coconut flavours - my stomach came away very satisfied and content indeed! For a side dish I had a peshwari naan and thought that tasted just as nice, perfectly complimenting the korma, however my friend has said that she found it to be a little sweeter than she likes it. Personally as I prefer it sweet as I generally have quite a sweet tooth, so this didn't bother me! The prices are average but you get more for your money than you do at other places taste and quality wise, and the portion sizes are good. I have ordered take away from this place before numerous times and although the food is great, the service on take away isn't something to brag about, I have had to wait over 45 minutes before now which isn't fun on an empty stomach! Apart from that I would highly recommend this place when you're craving Indian food, you won't be disappointed!

We usually go there in quite large groups so book in advance and have no problem getting a table. The decor is nice and light and airy and the seats are really comfortable. I usually order the Tikka Marsala with rice and a couple of different naan breads but we usually all order a dish each and have a share. Its all really well cooked in here. Value wise its so quite a bit cheaper than some of the ones in town but miles better!

It is both a blessing and a nightmare that Brighton Burger is so close to my current flat. A…read moreblessing because, let's face it, these are some of the best burgers I've ever tasted, and a nightmare because it's going to be hard not to get one every single day... Set up in a tiny, shack-like kitchen just beside the Giggling Squid, Brighton Burger serves hearty, honest, flavoursome food. Their menu is wonderful, hosting many unusual eats and obscure burgers - from wild boar to buffalo- but they also server your usual burger and fries to a very high standard. The burgers themselves are almost moist and full of flavour. So moist, in fact, that my takeaway burger soaked through the paper bag (my only teeny complaint!). This can be forgiven though, for as soon as you bite into the juicy burger, cuddled by sweet, soft bun and topped with whatever glorious accompaniments you opted for, everything can be forgiven. Literally everything. This last visit had me trying out the buffalo burger, which was absolutely delicious! Not as different tasting as you might expect it to be, but certainly different enough that you notice you're tasting something new and out of the ordinary! I added chips to my order and they came out, all thin and crispy, just how I like them! I almost typed there were 'too many chips' there, but let's be honest there's no such thing. There were loads of them though, in one portion, so maybe share between two if your appetite is not massive! The man who served me was pleasant (they always are!) and the service was quick and painless. The burger and chips came to around £8 which, though not the cheapest in Brighton, is so so reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of the food here! There's also a few tables and chairs dotted out by the front of the place, so you can sit in the sun (when it's about) and enjoy your burger in peace, watching the world go by! If you're in Brighton and you haven't tried these burgers then, firstly, shame on you, and secondly TRY THEM. I'll eat my hat if you're not impressed and back again for seconds the next week! :P

This is a call for burger pluralism. As Sophie said, Brighton Burger is equally good in a different way. Every burger here is special. At first glance each one of them could have come from a different restaurant. Most visibly, the buns are completely distinct. All time favorites are of course the Brighton Burger and the Ranch. There is something here for you regardless of what kind of burger you like. Purists ought to grab the eponymous Brighton Burger, but even if you want pulled pork there's a sandwich for you in the Tennesse Terror. Rest assured, the patties are succulent, the unique buns are always on point, and the veg is top notch. Just look at the photos and try this place out.

You can walk in off the street at 3 in the morning, order mussels in a garlic and cream sauce, and finish that bottle of Pinot as the sun comes up: a unforgettable experience for so many reasons. The chief reason to go to Buddies is the fabled Buddies all-nighter: grab some friends, head to Buddies at a reasonable hour, and don't leave until the morning traffic has subsided. This is bloody marvellous, for easedropping potential if nothing else: the people who frequent are an eclectic and wonderful bunch. Last time I did this, a man punched a woman over a dog, some drunk students threw up on each other, and a man proposed only to be unsurprisingly turned down. What do you expect? It's on the seafront, it's open all night: who are they gonna attract? Drunk people and insomniacs, and neither really wants to be there. The menu is huge: most of it is awful. Stick to chips and well-cooked to avoid a premature end to your all-nighter. And if you've been clubbing, and want to stay up, pop in here to end the night with a more sanitary alternative to the kebab dripping down your shirt on the long, meandering walk home.

The menu isn't anything extraordinary; everything you'd expect in terms of rogan josh, kurma, passanda, tikka etc. But in terms of taste, Empire really steps it up a gear. Lewes Road is a bit skanky, and therefore unsurprisingly, the Lewes Road take aways are frequently equally poor, not Empire Tandoori though. If you were placing a telephone order, rest assured that your belly is in no danger of unwanted additions to your meal! The prices are standard curry rates and they threw in a complimentary papadum per main dish ordered. Always nice. I went for a pathia that was a good blend of heat and fruitiness, whilst my flatmates vindaloo seemed to hit the spot from the expression on his face. Definitely a worthy addition to your collection of take away menus in your kitchen draw.

A friend and I were whizzing through the area in need of a quick bite before an appointment and this was a welcome stop off. A cheese burger meal and a bacon burger meal (with fries and drink) for just a tenner. I'm in. They are also super speedy. I received my order within 5 minutes (I timed them) and that was with 3 other food orders ahead of me. Taking no pride in their presentation my burger was rather hastily slopped together, but that gave it a rather reassuring freshly made appearance in stark contrast to the artificially uniform burger fare of more famous fast-food chains. In my haste to eat, the cheeseburger barely touched the sides. But there was no need to linger as the taste was so-so. There are a small number of tables if you fancy a sit down. If you want to drop in and pick up an order there are a handful of parking bays or you can nick a residential spot round the back. There is one toilet which is a bit shabby, but it has disabled access. If you're after your bog standard burger and chips on-the-go then this is certainly worth your custom. But if you're big on burgers, then this doesn't quite cut the mustard.
