If you weren't already aware, Nando's has a bit of a cult following. People love it! I always get the boneless chicken breast with peri-salted chips and supergrain side salad. The chicken is really good and the peri-peri flavor is so unique and delicious. I love that you get to choose your spiciness level. Not only is your meal cooked to the level of spiciness that you want, but there is also corresponding sauce that you can yourself at the table. I've gotten both medium and hot spice before and have enjoyed both. I figured out though that I prefer to order the medium spice level, but then use a mix of the medium and hot level sauces to dip my chicken and chips in as I eat. Nando's only location in Brighton city centre is located on Duke Street, despite having three locations in Brighton and Hove (one in Hove, one at the Marina) this is probably their main and most central location in the city, which is within walking distance of the Pier, Railway Station and main shopping area (Western Road and Churchill Square) One thing which sprung to mind straight away on seeing this store is how cramped it was, the store was tiny on the ground floor, with a larger area with the traditional Nando's open kitchen being on the upper floor with one or two stairs separating them, which for me makes this one of the most poorly designed Nando's stores as you walk into the store, to reach the waiting area straight away, meaning when busy it can feel so cramped especially for the tables sat on the lower floor, and there isn't too many either. The bar to order is also pretty small, again when busy and there's queue it could cause many issues with the surrounding tables and waiting area, the whole design of the store isn't thought out well, especially when it is busy, and considering I visited on a weekend after watching Manchester City lift the Premier League trophy with a 4-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium, it was busy so felt really uncomfortable for me. The staff seemed friendly enough and accommodating, but I felt the wait for a table was too long, especially considering they seemed to be sitting down people who had just walked in ahead of me. They did offer me the chance to come back, which I declined hoping it would only be 10 minutes as they promised, it was slightly longer. My food quality again was poor, I ordered my regular Nando's order with a twist - Medium chicken butterfly (chicken flavours were good with the medium sauce as always from Nando's, but the chicken tasted worse than normal as it was a little chewy and a lot tougher) - Peri-salted chips (could have been cooked for a little longer for more flavour and crispiness - Corn- I'm sorry but it was dry as fuck, it was like biting into mini yellow balls of sawdust on a stick, added to the fact it was underseasoned and a little undercooked and they had forgotten the marinade I'd asked for. The staff were too busy to come over during my meal too, which was a disappointment. Nando's is a chain I love and I'm a regular at, but again this is another one of those chains I noticed on my recent Brighton May 2019 visit, which doesn't follow regular standards and it is a real shame to see a store constructed so poorly, with food which doesn't meet expectations too. I'd even say a relocation to a larger branch with a focus on improving the food quality is a must for Nando's in the future, but with this branch open for over 10 years based on previous Yelp reviews, I sadly doubt that is a possibility, despite the fact Nando's has been hyped up and grown so much of late. read more

The chicken was good; it was juicy, the sauce tasted SO GREAT. The hot was not that hot. The portions were pretty good. However, for $10.80, it's not the most cheap meal. I got a side of charred vegetables, and it's definitely not worth it. Tastes fine, but it's overpriced. If you want decent chicken, this place won't disappoint, but it's kind of just okay. With so many good reviews, I had to check this place out. I couldn't decide between having a burger or a chicken but heck, I was at "Chickenland", I might as well go for the chicken meat! I had the 1/2 chicken meal with fries and coleslaw for £9.85. A nice waitress recommended that meal over the burger and butterfly chicken meals because it had more meat at a better price. Some parts of my chicken were dry and overcooked but overall, it was a nice and tender dinner. I love how this self-serve place offers free refills on drinks (a rarity in Europe) and a buffet-line of sauces. My favorite sauce was the Lemon+Herb and the Hot Peri-Peri. Those two together made the perfect combo on top of my chicken and fries. Mmh mmh! The creamy coleslaw definitely lived up to its name; had it been cold rather than lukewarm, I wouldn't have mind the creaminess but I felt the coleslaw was total mayonnaise-OD (overdose). It gets pretty busy around late dinner time but you'll be seated within 15 minutes. Attentive and quick service, hip ambience, hearty food. If you're not afraid to work for your chicken, I recommend the 1/4 or 1/2 chicken meals. If you're a knife-and-fork kind of guy or gal, the butterfly chicken meal has no bones, but less meat. Wraps and burgers looked yummy too. Overall, it was a messy but fun experience. I enjoyed my meal so if this place wasn't so expensive, I'd definitely come back more often. read more

I'm quite sad to confess this place was a bit of a disappointment for me. It's not that the food or anything in particular was bad or went wrong, it simply wasn't what I expected. The size of this place is good and it also has some tables outside for you to enjoy a nice day if the weather is good enough. Nando's is all about chicken, so what you can find on the menu is somehow related to it. First thing I didn't like is that I found the menu too short and a bit expensive. I ended up ordering a chicken sandwich, the least spicy I could ask for, with some fries as a sider. It was fine... But that's it, just fine. I also found the selfservice thing a bit uncomfortable, specially when it took them a bit to realise it was our first time in Nando's so we didn't know what to do... We also had to pick our own sauces and other dressings ourselves. Again, it was ok to do so, just not what I expected. I had heard lots and lots of people rambling about how amazing it is to have a "cheeky Nando's" but for me it wasn't that good. Nando's is a pretty safe bet. They basically just sell chicken and chips so you can't really go too wrong with that. It is great for group meals as very few people would struggle to find something they like on the menu. I also really like that they have free drinks refills and lots of different sauces to put on your food. What I do not like about it is that it is very overpriced for what it is. Additionally, the service in this branch is incredibly slow. I went to Nando's today, as my boyfriend received a gift voucher to use there. Free meal? - why not! Nando's is one of those places where the food and standard is pretty consistent whichever branch you go to. It always seems to be heaving at any time of day. We got there just in time today, because after we got seated, around 20 people walked in and had to wait for quite some time! I don't eat at Nando's very often, but I always go for the Butterfly Chicken with Coleslaw and Chips (I'm sure I could have a healthier option but what the hey). Seeing as our meal was free, we also ordered some chicken wings to start. Disappointingly, they arrived stone cold. Of course I informed a member of staff, and they happily changed them for fresh ones straight away. The meal was fine, nothing amazing. nothing for me to rave about and say 'YOU MUST GO THERE!' I love me some chicken! Normally I really rate this Nando's, but on this occasion they managed to dry out the chicken thighs... the most moist part of the bird!! Everything else about the meal was good, chips were crispy and hot, corn peas and coleslaw tasty as always. It's just those damn thighs. I dunno how they did it but they were dry as hell. Service was delightful and staff were apologetic about the thighs, we were told to mention it earlier so they could have swapped them for us, so that's always good to know. read more

I can't think of a scenario where chicken is not the answer. I love Nando's. When it's busy, I've found that it takes a while to get served in the Brighton restaurant. Had to send back food a couple of times because it's been cold. Nobody likes the squeal of shivering Halloumi. Most of the time though, it's great. It's the Wagamma's of chicken. I've never had a bad meal in this place. I know its not a high-end trendy place that your going to find Prince Harry in but it does cook a really good bit of chicken. The chicken burgers are out of this world and are full of flavour. They have some great sauces on the table to add a bit of extra oomph if you fancy. If I'm after quick service, great value for money and dependable food, then I head to Nando's. You know it ain't gonna be gourmet, but it's going to be good. Although I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to mega-spicy stuff, I find the medium peri-peri completely palatable (with mayonnaise anyway). Although the chicken isn't amazing quality and you get more leg and thigh meat than breast, I always find eating here very enjoyable. Their spicy rice is really tasty, their coleslaw is creamy and their corn-on-the-cobs are well cooked and fabulously messy to eat. But the pièce de résistance? Their ENORMOUS spicy olives with roasted red peppers, mushroom and garlic. Very generous portions and absolutely lovely with a large glass of their house Portuguese white. At around £6/£7 for a rather generous main course, I don't think you can fault Nando's value for money. And their bottomless soft drinks are also fabulous value seeing as the food is so spicy you have to down an average of three glasses during your meal. I've always found the staff to be friendly and happy to accommodate large groups. The only trouble is that you can't book a table, so it's worth being prepared to pop across the road for a pint in The Victory while you wait 15-20 minutes during busier times. read more

Great cheep cheep chickens. No eggs layed by lots of yummy dishes to try out. The venue is long and thin with interesting graffiti style painting on the far wall. The toilets are down stairs which is a bit annoying if you are stuffed and can't be bothered to trot to the loo. The bottomless drinks are always a good option. The food here is standard. I think it has gone downhill as it has now established itself. I recall the first time I went to Nandos i thought it was fantastic but each time I go back, I am disappointed. The meal itself came promptly but the chicken was quite dry. It can get rather busy in this stretched out narrow restaurant, and noisy too, that's why I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Nando's, in my opinion, is one of the best restaurants in Brighton. Where else do you not have to wait for a waiter to come over and ask you what you want to nosh. Where you can choose a chicken marinated in hot peri peri and then make it even hotter yourself at the table with their amazing range of sauces and THEN you have the side orders - Halloumi, Olives with chilli mmm, mmm, mmm. The food is never bad. Always perfect, always delicious (nom, nom, nom). I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Of course, every thing has it's downside. The tables can tend to be a little too close together - which is all very good if your nosey like me and love listening in on other peoples conversations (hehe, everyone's going to look over their shoulder now when I'm around), but if you don't like to feel crowded, perhaps it's not the place for you. The other problem is, as it's SO popular, it can take a while to get a table. Don't let that put you off though Chicken fans - you haven't lived until you've tasted Nando's - so get yourself down there and save me a seat! read more

Even my Mum got it wrong before. She thought it was table service. So it's actually nice to take your time with your meal and leave when you're all done. No waiting for the bill. I missed out on many years of Nando's because I only found out about its goodness last year. If you are into very hot and very spicy chicken most of your needs will be fulfilled here. The sides of sweetcorn and rice are really good and the chips are nice and crispy. I always like the layout in Nandos and this one is pretty nice, good lighting and not overly fussy. Ok, they may not be striving originality but Nando's seem to be stuck awkwardly between the fast food and restaurant markets. I personally like spicy so I get the hot but if you don't enjoy spice get the herb sauce! Definitely one of the best chicken places I have eaten at. The place is very different from most fast food restaurants and it serves very very good chicken with varying degrees of hot sauce to go along with it. I got the double breast wrap with hot sauce and it was delicious! Top it off with chips and some other sauces for dipping and you've got a great lunch!
