I don't know that this is a 5 star market, but it's definitely better than the ratings it has so I'm pushing up the average if I can. My wife is Thai and we cook a lot of Asian food at home. This is far and away the best place to buy the Asian ingredients to make that food. Whether it is Thai or Japanese or Chinese, they have most of the things we need to at least stay moderately satisfied with cooking. The people at the counter - whether it is a man or a woman - aren't the friendliest people. Certainly not Texas hospitality like you might come to expect, but that has never been a problem for us. If I've asked for something they may be abrupt telling me if they have it or not, but at the end of the shopping experience, I get the food my wife and I need to cook the Asian meals we like so I guess I can tolerate the staff. We come here every 3 or 4 weeks and will continue to come back while we are living in Lubbock. read more

It's a grocery store run by Chinese people so most products are Chinese but you can find some other Asian food here too. The store is bigger than other Asian stores and seems to have a decent selection. The man at the cashier gave us a weird look and did not say anything to us as we walked in or out (but still looking at us). Meat-wise, they seem to have all kinds of cuts and organs in the back if you need them. read more

I went in here and nobody greeted me or asked if I needed help. So I went up to one of the employees and showed him a photo on my phone of some noodles I was looking for and he said something like "I don't know. That's Korean. I'm Chinese." I was really taken aback by his rudeness. I also felt he was implying I was being racially insensitive, but I wasn't! How could I be?! The store is called "Oriental" market, which they themselves are bunching their Chinese race with ALL Asians. I just assumed he would be knowledgeable about all Asian foods, since his store was called "Oriental Market" not "Chinese Market". I enjoy going to the Asian Food Market down the street. They're always so friendly to me and don't make me feel weird or bad. read more

I was there to look for ingredients for Com hen (a Vietnamese traditional dish). They have what I need (frozen clamps, sate-chili in oil, noddles, nuoc mam--fish sauce and mam ruoc--shrimp paste). The last ingredient is hard to find in Lubbuck. read more

I went to this market on a Tuesday afternoon and was the only shopper in the place. It was very nicely stocked but the young girl behind the register was doing something and was clearly irritated with my questions about where some things were located. She practically threw my change when I paid. It may be good if you know what you are doing but if you are unfamiliar with the products and need some help I would go somewhere else. read more

I went here looking for ingredients to make sushi. I found everything I needed at a reasonable prices (got a 4.4 lb bag of sushi rice for $7). They had a large variety of oriental foods, and I am looking forward to taking my wife there to find ingredients to new dishes we want to make at home! read more
