Speaking as someone who has been using this product for over 50 years, what in the world has happened to you guys. The last shipment we got (distributed from Famous Foods) was rancid and inedible. Like other comments on this forum, the quality of this long-standing product has dropped considerably. When we called Famous Foods to ask them to replace the unopened boxes of noodles, they thought it more appropriate to argue to the point where we had to hang up on them due to their snarky belligerence. Undeterred, they just kept calling back to argue some more until we finally blocked them. These are the most delicate, the most tasty, the most whimsicly twisty turny chow mein noodles you will probably ever see, taste, eat. I've been getting my chow mein noodles, gravy mix, bean sprouts, oyster sauce from this company for as long as I can remember. Always so fresh and you can eat the noodles as a snack, I love them. My parents would ship my noodles and gravy to me as like many, you can't find this in other parts of the country. Everyone makes it different but its delicious any way you make it. Have purchased this product in the past and all was good. Did not purchase for a while and bought a box recently. The chemical smell and taste was horrible. After much research, the FDA should look in to their practice. This company has switched to trans-fat cooking oil to make the noodles, which in turn shorten the best used by date on the box. The trans-fat oil is very sensitive and if not monitored closely, it can alter the taste of the product. Unless the product is frozen or refrigerated, the product often doesn't last until the product best used by date stamped on the top of the box. Shame on Oriental Chow Mein Company, your greed and disregard will eventually lead to the demise and shutdown of your business. I will never buy them again. I get the yellow box with noodles and sauce mix. I order from famous foods as i live in florida. Got a few bad boxes. The noodles were awful. Had a chemical odor and taste. So i stopped ordering. We are from Massachusetts and were home for a visit in April 2017. I bought 4 boxes from Shaws Supermarket there. Cooked one box as soon as we got home. The smell of chemical was awful on the noodles. Opened the other boxes. Same awful smell. Threw all out. Later i found out the Shaws was getting a lot of boxes returned. I will never order again. Seems you never know when the noodles will have that chemical odor and taste. Please be leary when buying this product. I cant imagine what is wrong at the manufacturer but i wish they would figure it out and fix it before someone gets seriously ill.
